I think you need to give Italy more credit on I1. Move the entire navy together. Add a blocking DD to Gibraltar. Maybe IT takes the other side of the canal. This prevents the BR from going back into the med
So the problem I'm seeing with this plan of moving the navy south of the canal is that Italy can load up its transports and take them to Trans Jordan, blocking the way back for the navy. Now Italy has four units there, a sizeable defense force. I would take the battle ship and go after the cruiser, along with a fighter escort. The Cruiser from 97 and a destroyer from 95 would go to 98 to protect the transports from the air force, at least making it expensive to take. The sub and cruiser form 95 would go to 93 with a bomber and the second fighter. It would spread Italy out a bit but you'd clear the med, and chances are be likely to hold it since the battle group south of the canal can't make it through or UK would be likely to lose multiple land units to take Trans Jordan. Troops that can't be replaced. Italy would get their bonus on their turn and likely have enough left over to get it on the second turn. They'd also have a substantial force to take out Egypt on round two. Now that I've said all that, please tell me what I got wrong.
This has to be the worst UK opening ever. Italy combined his fleet around egypt and lands 2 units in transjordan, bottling up your fleet in the red sea and landing 2 units in syria in order to take iraq I2. Germany can cheaply kill your two tpt at Gibraltar. You didn´t anticipate that..
Great vid Sired! Been watching this a lot and GHG's middle earth as well. Trying to figure out a possible marriage of the two. Of course, the biggest issue is "to Toranto or not to Toranto":-). The other major difference is the use of Air Force. I think GHG takes them to Africa to help keep Italian navy out of med. Great stuff!! Keep em coming.
Sired blood thank you for the awesome instructional both for getting ready for tournament play and notmal play and especially for tipping us off on the really cool French tactic of hitting Belgian Ftrs. I usually roll in at least one German AAA gun but from now on it will always be two. If the excess does not bring any AAA gone into Belgium on round one I would argue that using the French fighter to ensure a kill of one or two Luftwaffe would be in good order. If Germany is trying to have a maximum scramble in west Germany then the likely fighters on Belgium are going to be fighter-bombers which only defend it three and the odds are highly unlikely that all three will have hit at least one will not and then increases the probability of you getting maximum fighters with the French tactic.
Not saying I hated the idea of using the French fighter in the vid, I might if the numbers were right.... like you said, maybe they landed 3 tacs there, then ya, ill go in with the 2@2 and 1@3 .... but if the fighter was doomed to not make it, I would not take it.... but that's me.... the option is there though.
i've been looking for the rule that confirms this. Can you point me towards this rule? The way i see it, you can because you use the following steps: 1. combat move phase: You move the cruiser and the planes to SZ96. The transport isn't planning on unloading in a hostile SZ and is therefore not moving this moment. 2. Conduct combat: You (hopefully) win the battle in SZ96. 3. non combat move: You move the transport to the now friendly SZ96. you pick up and move back and unload in friendly territory. Am I missing one of the rules?
Love these vids, very insightful. As italy in this situation id combine fleet & take Jordan send sub and air force to sink cruiser off Malta. May split landing force to hit Alexandra for bombards. Thoughts ???
Yes! Nice video! Thanks for sharing! Same like Alfreduss, it can be harder to recognize the different units by the paint on the video. Still love the paint schemes though!
Nice video thx for sharing your thoughts. About reinforcing Gibraltar; can't German bombers reach seazone 91 from West Germany? (by sea). I like the one stand camera approach, but some things were simply too far away to get a good look. Just a friendly tip😉
They sure can depending on where they were landed... if they are in range, I would recommend both destroyers and the cruiser to stay there (if non tournament) ..... if they decide to go after you, they will more then likely lose both bombers, in addition that means Germany wasted the bombers turn in G2 when they should have done something more important.
Hey Siredblood, I have been watching your videos a good deal in the past week or so, and I greatly enjoy and appreciate your insights into the game. I do have one question about this video, though. If I, as an Italian player, see the UK player send their Egyptian fleet into the Red Sea, then I would load up my transports and invade Trans-Jordan in force to make sure that fleet had a hard time coming back. Thus, my question is, what is your strategy for if Italy closes down the Suez via Trans-Jordan?
yup, but you both also said to give to someone else, which I did lol, fenris said hes too far away don't worry about it, you said give to someone else..... you want a set or not?
3:43 You can't sink the wounded battleship with the fighters if you scrambled them the previous turn. They defended your SZ 109 (also you scrambled the Scotland fighter too, which was an illegal move).
A little late here but scrambled fighters can be used as normal on the UK's turn...they just couldn't be used again on Germany's turn. The fighter in Scotland may also scramble because of the airbase which also borders SZ 109
mmm... for playing in real live, your painted miniatures are awesome, but for videos explaining your strategy its a little messy. At least I have to pause the video a lot more than with regular pieces. But ty for the tips. (since some of your ships colors "camouflage with the map colors for example)

As Germany I would destroy all those U.K. ships on turn one so Gibraltar couldn't be fortified

Im not a fan of Toranto, never have been, I don't like to wash out my only UK units turn 1 lol

Epic, how is it?

You cannot load a transport if you did a sea battle in sea zone 96. I'm referring to the Malta (infantry, AAA) move.

Thanks for the feedback, ill have to bust open the set to retrieve the unpainted units... no big :)
nice great video thanks sired
Thanks for the comment William!

That happens for sure, its an easy fix for UK and ANZAC... yup ANZAC... ill be making a vid this weekend "The ANZAC Express"
Gijoe recommends Italy taking Trans-Jordan. Watch his video in response to Sireblood's UK strategy above:

Nice video. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment!
You will lose the two UK Tpt on G2. They can get them with their bombers.
Nice. UK is one of my favorite, (US is best for me). Also, kamikaze dice?
Oh you want them, thought you passed lol
siredblood im pretty sure you said both me and fenris would get a set
yup, but you both also said to give to someone else, which I did lol, fenris said hes too far away don't worry about it, you said give to someone else..... you want a set or not?
siredblood send them to someone else. (I dont want my parents to think im doing weird shit to get free stuff)(i think you know what I mean...)
LOL, ya I sent the sets to Dtroy and YG.... shhhh don't tell, though they will know that you guys donated :)

these are based off YG tournament rules, however he has taken down the videos.
its wise for UK to take Greece on first turn? for the free units or?
I can honestly say I have never tried to, interesting thought...
