Yup. This cat in Mirage and the note from Alex Hay in Starfield are the 2 most wholesome (yet kinda sad) easter eggs in video games that I've seen in a long time.
Hate to break it to you but it wasn't an Easter egg. Small history lesson. Greece had the best position in the Aegean when it came to trade and they were the best at getting wherever they needed. Baghdad through trade spoke 4 main languages. One of them was Ancient Greek. Hey, if you want to look at it through a positive lense, consider it two birds with one stone. 😂
I believe that there was also a mandalorian Easter egg when you are training at alamut. You can speak to a fellow hidden one and practice throwing daggers, if you do well he will be amazed at your skill and Basim will say « this is the way »
Honestly Wouldn't Doubt There Will Be More Answers In The New Assassin's Creed Hexe.. Perhaps You'll Meet The Cult Or Maybe That's Gonna Be One Of The Enemy's Or Both...
About the Darius' first blade, it's not just referencing the Odyssey DLC, but AC2 and Origins as well. Darius had a statue under the Auditore villa and Aya told the story of the hidden blade when she gave it to Bayek.
In assassins creed 2 there was also a tentacle squid-like monster thing Easter egg, and also in black flag there was a squid attacking a whale Easter egg Maybe assassins creed loves evil squid?
The AC series loves their Lovecraftian secrets. Like the Giant Squids from AC II and AC IV Black Flag.. When playing Odyssey, I was honestly expecting a Giant Squid to drag my ship down beneath the waves when venturing too far from the map.
To add to the Cthulhu mythos, there's an eastern egg in AC2 where you encounter a giant squid in one of the catacombs, also in AC4 a "Kraken" makes an appearance, devouring a whale. there's definitely something at play with this eastern eggs.
the biggist easter egg is the building of the assassin home which shows masiaf being built you get to see this in the first game, also number 2 when basim comes to be initiated in to the hidden ones this is the place of the great libray where altires body is found in ac revalations xxx
This is actually a common mistake, the castle being built is Alamut castle, not Masyaf. Also, Altaïrs library is in Masyaf, not Alamut, and has also not been built yet.
Because I wanted to return all the books together I kept it in my inventory and after some time when you look in your inventory the book starts having a weird purple effect like it was sending out purple particals!
Nah bro to the people mad about animations, just wait till they find out literally every Ubisoft game that has swimming, has had the same swimming animation since assassins creed 2 💀
Why is noone talking about the achievement/trophy Hoarder? That is the most subtle yet classy Easter Egg i've seen. "Hoarder: Save up 2007 dirhams" The first Assassin's Creed game was released on November 13th 2007.
I agree, I think for a game that started off as a DLC and is at a lower price point you can't expect it to reinvent the wheel, just wait for the newer games if you're not into it
People want to complain and whine about even insignificant things in some jaded, bitter view of this franchise. Too wrapped in being mad about them trying something different... well I say, excluding the awful walking animation that makes him look like his feet are 500lb weights (which I hoped would die after Valhalla)? I love this game. I love the things we got, recycled or not. And I appreciate your video!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I had a great time playing Mirage, the series was beginning to feel less like an “Assassin” game and more just historical epics, but Mirage’s focus on stealth and assassinations was exactly why the franchise needed imo
I want to say that the Hytam easter egg is also an Ipman 2 reference where at the end of the film Ipman (spoiler) meets Bruce Lee and bruce says that he wants to become Ipman's student, that will become, and Ipman says "Seek me out when your voice begins to break. Then we will talk." I don't know why so many people didn't found this reference
You missed one mate. When Basim is still an initiate at Alamut before he becomes a hidden one he drops a very iconic line during his training. He is clearly heard to say "This is the way", not long before he enters the cave to swear his oath and receive his hidden blade. I love that one because it drives home a comparison between The Assassin's and Mandalorians i have been making for a VERY long time.
I'd like to point out that the Isu Armor in this game features a hood and a mask (a faceless cult looking mask) and the colours of the Isu armour matches the colours Monstrous and Eldritch Talismans. This makes me think that the Eldritch gods were either Isu themselves like Odin, Zeus or Anubis. Or perhaps Isu experiments like the Gorgons and Cyclops's.
1:50 HOLY CRAP! I didn't even put that together until now and I feel dumb AF because I love the Indiana Jones movies, lol. I really like that outfit too.
I think you didn't mention this one but there is a note you can find which has a poem written as reference to Prince of Persia Sands of Time (this is separate from the deluxe edition skins)
@BiggEasterEggs it threw me as well when I found it. It's in the 2nd or 3rd assassins hideout you visit when you do the story. It also states the assassin couldn't wait to cut off his 2nd finger. Didn't exio keep his fingers? Been a while since I played it
This is not leonardo .. he is an Arabian Scientest Called .. Abbas ibn fernas .. he tried to create a flying machine .. after many attempts he failed eventually 😂😂
5:00 there is a reason for this which both you and the same people complaining have missed; Mirage started life as DLC for Valhalla, but eventually was turned to being a standalone game.
There is also a note in Alamut that states a Byzantine Assassin has the idea of 2 hidden blades, and is excited to try it out. But this goes against the Codex pages in AC2, where Altair says he had the idea.
The treasure hunter garb is actually a historical accurate depiction of the Hashassins, its what AC1 is loosely based on. Wear it if you want to look like a historically accurate assassin.
One of the enigmas in mirage that is near a village from the ruins depicts a scribbled eldritch and finding the treasure near the ruins will give you a talisman of a similar theme
Having not finished mirage story and thinking on the cuthulhu stuffs and the Jinn that torments Basim Makes me think maybe they are setting up AC Hexe, and one of the ways the ISU tried to avoid the great catastrophe haaaa turned some of them into phantoms
you know, the writer of el-Azif book, was a sorcerer, te tried to communicate with beings that lived in earth before humans themselves, thats why when he died, his death was glorious, a crack opened in the sky and a great unidentifiable creature opened its mouth and swalloed his house, his name was abd-allah ibn el-Hazard, the word Azif means the flow of cold wind in the desert night
Crazy how they put that squid 🦑 reference when in AC2 there’s a tomb you go down to and if wait long enough a huge tentacle pops out to grab you. I wonder if they’re connected.
Something told me there is an animal related easter egg I thought it was going to be another giant squid or octopus at first but assassin cat is 100x better
You can actually also find a short text that talks about Ikaros, who is the eagle of Kassandra, "Ikaros rises higher and higher and then disappears into the clouds if I remember correctly. If you want to find it look on the roof of the first woman you have to kill to get to the order member in the house of wisdom
When you go back to the hideout at the end of the game, there is a note talking about building a new hideout in Jerusalem because of rumors of a powerfull piece of eden, which is referencing the start of the hideout that you're in in ac1
Great vid, but one little funny Easter egg you missed was someone cooking up the 11 herbs and spices for KFC chicken back in ancient Baghdad! There’s two notes stashed around Cookman’s Quarter: Scrap of Paper Sadir is in deep trouble. Guards are skulking about the Cookmen’s Quarter looking for him and his potent spice blend. All the uproar about the spice has attracted much undue attention. He should stop production if he wants to keep his life. Sadir’s Journal No more! I knew my special blend of herbs and spices would be exquisite. When I tasted it my tongue quivered, my knees went weak! My mistake was sharing it with the servants. The chaos that came once their masters tasted my creation earned me a beating by the Caliph’s guard! Should you desire to taste my masterful blend, come to my stall at the Cookmen’s Quarter for chicken.
The part about the cult of cthullu is linked to the book/ Kitab Al-Azif because in my culture its referenced as an actual book that summons other worldy creatures to our world in which case they either drive the reader mad or just kill him in strange circumstances or so goes the story...
Not an easter egg but I loved playing it with Arabic voice actors (with english subs!), it really added to the immersion. I think you could play AC: 11 and Brotherhood with Italian voice actors as well which was great, I hope it continues with the next games!
@@BiggOnGames granted they have improved since AC3, but you would think they would have at least improved the horse assets instead of making them the exact same since a ps3 game And compared to other games like RDR1, RDR2, Metal gear Solid 5, ect... the horse animations look like something from a ps2 game
The whole lovecraft element could work within the canon ISU storyline. They could’ve been ISU-created monsters that protected something or perhaps they were created to scare their human slaves. Many different ways to go about it but something like that could work

The cat easter egg was recently confirmed by Ubisoft. Also, if you equip the Cthulhu talisman when you have the book in your inventory, it will glow a strange purple. Don't know if it has any other significance.
I don't think that outfit is an indianna jones easter egg, rather its a concept outfit for altier from early development of ac1 based off the real hashshashins
i hate people bitching about the newer games bro okay i agree valhalla was a bit too long but such a fun game same goes for odyssey its my favorite assassins creed game just by fun mirage is amazing
In Lovecraftian mythos the Necromonicon, or book of the dead, was written by a Middle Eastern madman called Abdul AlHazerd. The note references that name. I think it’s a nod to Lovecraft rather than a direction for Assassin’s Creed mythos.
In the round city/ palace of the green dome if you go to the blacksmith close to them there's a wall with bars and inside lies a viking shield with a ax in it
I would just like to mention that in my opinion. I believe Assassin's Creed Mirage is Ubisoft's first ever hybrid Assassin's Creed game (with the micanics of the originals by going back to the roots with stealth but adding a liner open world similar to GOD of War Ragnarok and also adding the similar parkour micanics of Origins Odyssey and Valhalla. But that's just my opinion.
There is another cat easter egg, in the burnt village there is a cat who wants you to kill the snakes. If you follow him and kill all the snakes, he will go back to the village and his owner will come to you and thank you for it
ah c'mon, my favorite one is missed! The letter from the Prince of Persia to Farah signed as Kakolookiyam (find "Just call me Kakolookiyam" vid)! It can be found on the bench near the Palace and it brightens the day of old Ubi fans. Even though they ruined the PoP series, that story still lives in our hearts and it's so great that they added this little easter egg to the game (I so hoped PoP costume will be from the classic trilogy, though...).
Cthulhu in ac mirage is very scary, already scary enough that we faced Egyptian Gods and Greek Monsters. If Cthulhu is coming in a dlc, then Basim is going to need Loki for leverage again that monster.
I think if it's anything it may be a series spanning plot rather than just DLC, maybe AC next world ending threat or something... or more likely it'll always just stay as a fun mystery
Thanks for the video! I didn't catch all of these, I did love the Hytham one though before the reveal was slightly anxious I'd just murdered a child 😅 I was a creep and followed him & his pals to where they lived just outside of the city in case there was another easter egg there, there wasn't one but it was still cool!
The Cat easter egg is so wholesome. Thank you, Ubisoft for making it happen.
😍
Yup. This cat in Mirage and the note from Alex Hay in Starfield are the 2 most wholesome (yet kinda sad) easter eggs in video games that I've seen in a long time.
Definitely agree, it's a good year for tear-jerker easter eggs!
I liked the Greek merchants Easter egg, I think it was an Easter egg at least, when the merchant says “Malaka” it made me think of Odyssey 😂

I still can’t believe Basim really just encouraged a kid to jump off a building, even if it was Hytham
I know right 😂
Especially after him not being able to do it for months of training
Fr, I was like "wait wtf, i thought we were saving this kid!?"
Gotta give it
The Cthulhu easter egg is probably one of the more involved lovecraft references i've ever seen
It's maybe my favourite Easter Egg of the year!
Please could you answer me a question or am I being dumb? How are the notes being read out? Is that an in game option for them to be spoken to you?
I think it must be an accessibility option, there's one for having the menu narrated too
The Cthulhu easter egg might also be tied to that one tomb in AC2, where if you wait at the edge of the water, a giant squid jumpscares you.
I keep thinking about that too, there’s also a giant squid in Black Flag
Yes! I was looking for this comment!

Considering how convoluted AC lore has become, who knows the Eldritch beings are a creation of the Isu like the Greek mythological beasts in Odyssey?
Very possible, I was leaning towards the Eldritch being pre-dating the Isu but who knows!
hands down, best Mirage parkour clip i‘ve seen to date… and i‘ve seen quite a few

There a note in one of the hideouts I think it was, but it talks about a person using 2 hidden blades.
It’s a nice detail but it’s not a reference sadly, just world building - Ezio’s dual blades are hundreds of years later

How can you have both though? You get the Cthulhu Talisman for turning in the book... do you mean the talisman from the enigma?
@@BiggOnGames yes correct. The talisman you get from the enigma.
I don't think that outfit is an indianna jones easter egg, rather its a concept outfit for altier from early development of ac1 based off the real hashshashins
For me, I think the name/description are what make it an EE, not just the look
Very well done, video. Thank you.
i hate people bitching about the newer games bro okay i agree valhalla was a bit too long but such a fun game same goes for odyssey its my favorite assassins creed game just by fun mirage is amazing
Origins was my favourite of the new trilogy and I like Valhalla (but that’s because I’m English) 😂
@@BiggOnGames yeah I agree people just hate without playing I hated odyssey before I played it
Thank you.❤
You are very welcome 😄
Do you think this studio will make an Indiana jones game after they successfully launch Star Wars next month
Bethesda are working on Indiana Jones as we speak
In Lovecraftian mythos the Necromonicon, or book of the dead, was written by a Middle Eastern madman called Abdul AlHazerd. The note references that name. I think it’s a nod to Lovecraft rather than a direction for Assassin’s Creed mythos.
I didn’t catch any of these! Good video
Thanks!
Who is reading the notes they doing a great job
Adela tells me she approves of this comment 😂
In the round city/ palace of the green dome if you go to the blacksmith close to them there's a wall with bars and inside lies a viking shield with a ax in it
I'll have to go check this one out
@BiggEasterEggs it'll be on the roof I just saw it and thought "what use would that have" got close and found the thing
Personally I think they've just gone back to the older AC style, feels a lot like AC 1 with some Origins mechanics
There is another cat easter egg, in the burnt village there is a cat who wants you to kill the snakes. If you follow him and kill all the snakes, he will go back to the village and his owner will come to you and thank you for it
I like ur videos mate I came across the cat one mate 👍👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them 😄
ah c'mon, my favorite one is missed!
I can't believe how bad a role model Basim was in that quest 😂
For the last one maybe it’s a nod back to the squid we see in that one level in ac 2 the one underground. Maybe it was Cthulhu
Could be, it would be a nice callback!
With all the Isu stuff, Lovecraftian mythos might not be too much of a stretch
Well that took a dark turn
😂
Forgot the Sands of Time dagger from Prince of Persia.
Isn't that DLC?
@@BiggOnGamesYeah, there's a whole pack.
Don't remember the exact location but one cave in the wilderness with a gear chest in it looks exactly like the one from Pirates of the Carrabian 1!
3:43 “Shalom Chaver” in Hebrew “Hello/Peace Friend” שמעתי שלום חבר. Great to see the representation of Jews that were there during that time.
Really nice detail! Thanks for highlighting it 👍🏻
Kitab Al Azif is also the original name of the book according to Lovecraft's lore. Abdul Al Hazred wrote it in Damascus I believe
Awesome detail, thanks for adding!
Hold on...... I don't have a voice reading my notes!
Isn’t that standard???
