Hey! I completely empathize. This is NOT easy! I just want to mention here that every year, we see several students who don't do well in CAT but shine in other exams. There are many reasons for that. XLRI is one of the top B-schools and the test is quite different in terms of structure from CAT. The result might pleasantly surprise you. :-) Try to start small with your prep - 1 hour a day and then gain momentum. All the very best!
As one of those people for whom CAT didn't fall in place but XAT did, all the best to everyone taking the exam this year! One tangible tip I can give that helped me in my second attempt at XAT: Even if VARC is your best section in CAT, be extremely selective with your VARC questions in XAT. If you are unsure, it pays to skip and come back to such questions (only if you feel you've attempted too few in the section). Of course this may vary in your year but in general the VARC section in XAT had tended towards the hard side in recent years, so be comfortable in answering fewer questions than CAT.
