Wait he really did interview Ang Lee? From his autobiography (How I escaped...), there is further references to this routine. What isn't immediately clear, was that Stuart Lee was a comics aficionado, and totally obsessed with Hulk... and he really did interview Ang Lee! The comic book connection extends further, with Lee being used as a cameo in a Hulk comic (google issue 106). I like Lee's humour. It captures the energy and spirit of exploring and subverting 'what is meant to be funny' through razor sharp observations.
She- Hulk Does my choice in religion bug you? You shouldn't judge a person by their beliefs. Saying that you might as well judge a person my the color of their skin. Seems to be the same logic you're showing.
She- Hulk Preferably. And yes there are some atheists that are dickheads. I just like it to be less judging by religion and believing in whatever you want. Sorry if i sounded dickish there.
When does he say that believing in religion is wrong? And he respects opinions and when he expresses it in a video he will always clarify at the end by saying something along the lines of "but thats my opinion if you think it's bollocks then good for you". Please, can you reinforce your statement with evidence?
You do not feel the need to backup you point. You make very controversial statements and you will backlash against people saying "u r pathetic" but when a genuine question is asked you refuse to answer? At least try..
If you ever watched Fist of Fun, you'd know why. He read out a letter where a woman complained about their parody of a parable and asked 'would you do a similar thing against another faith such as the Muslims' and his response was 'No. I may be an atheist, but I'm not stupid'
+RandomGamer Excuse me? If you don't care much about my comment, bug off, go away, I don't care much about you either. Also, I'm not talking, I'm typing... I can't really "shut-up". My comment was only because I saw nothing but NerdCubed comments. Like, some people were a bit more humble about it but others just spam *NerdCubed?*, *nerd3 brought me here*, etc. Not trying to be very rude even if that's what my original comment might've come off as... it just gets annoying what with 98% of the comments being about Dan. I was brought here by Dan as well but I don't just go parading his name all over. This is a Stewart Lee video, not a NerdCubed video.
Stewart Lee - Stand Up Comedian. This is from about 2005 before the whole Jerry Springer controversy sparked up (he covers that in his next stand up show '90's comedian')
+She- Hulk I live in america and it was stupid to put Los Vagas in the middle of a dessert. but of course you never learned america isn't the smartest country.
To be fair you'd have to be British to understand the "tooth hurty" joke in the context Lee uses it here. It's such an old cliche'd joke, using it makes the joke on Stewart Lee, it has nothing to do with anyone's pronunciation. Stewart Lee saying "I don't even know where Taiwan is" is him being intentionally obtuse or ignorant, again the target of the humour is himself not Ang Lee, the Taiwanese director is just used as a comedy prop in this joke.
jesus, just noticed ang lee has his dentist appointment at two-thirty (tooth hurty). Can't beleive he would slip that right by the audience, really a comedy genius. I know theres at least 2-3 more punch lines im missing here, like how Ang Lee's name relates to remembering a dentist appointment
Here's Stewart Lee analysing his audience. I think you'd be sitting near the top. The people down below got it. th-cam.com/video/V4Fi-iti338/w-d-xo.html
Sorry this reply is eight years late! What time do you go to the dentist? 2.30 Sounds like "tooth hurty". Especially if done in an Asian accent, or someone whose first language isn't English.
'Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry' was from the 70s TV adaptation of the Incredible Hulk, not the Ang Lee film. Shame on Ang Lee for not correcting Stew on this most basic of error in this entirely real and not made up encounter between them. Joe Pasquale wouldn't have made this error. Nor Lee Mack.
You and others are missing the joke here. The joke is on Stewart Lee, not Ang Lee. He's mocking himself for failing to tell a simple joke, and the humour is about how bad a joke it is. The point is that they get into a huge argument over a terrible joke (and which ends in another terrible joke). Also, the story probably never even happened in the first place.
@crimsonpermanent haha oh. I can't believe I didn't get that -_-

although to be more accurate the joke is not on stewart lee but on the joke itself. he makes a bad joke and then stretches it to the point of breaking.
This is the most brilliant bit, and his timing is perfect. So well done.
If we talk about his craft as an artform there is no way his bid will not go down in history.
The physical manifestation of disappointment has let itself get AngLee
Still brilliant after many views. He is the best.

I was indeed brought here by one man, he was hulking out.
Thank you NerdCubed.

This is beautiful. Multi-layered, poised art. Fucking hysterical - I was struggling for air.
Why do people who just repeat what the person on the video has said always get the most thumbs up......it makes me very ang lee
hey man, what have you done in 9 years

Six minutes build up for a two thirty/tooth hurty punchline. The master of stand up.
It's multilayered. Not just the punchline

Saw him do this at Glastonbury a few years ago. Never laughed so hard in my life.
he looks so convincing, like he's still in the room making that terrible joke.
Absolute genius comedy, possibly the best joke ever written
these days, you say you're taiwanese, you get arrested and thrown in jail
lol
Go back to Taiwan
He's 10 times better live. If you ever get the chance to see him - go!
i think i remember watching this once on tele the first time it was on

There seem to be quite a few people who find the 2.30 joke to be the essence of his unique wit. Marvellous!

This humor is so dry that America is trying build a resort in the middle of it.
+Jake Lowell What the fuck does that mean?
She- Hulk Isn't Las Vegas placed in the most lifeless part of America?
Jake Lowell Well there are deserts in other parts of the world and funny enough I don't see you talking shit about them.
