Another great scientist, scholar, and humanitarian that is no longer with us. We could use his vision today.
Carl Sagan was talking about the danger of Global Warming back in the 90’s. He gives a speech about this issue which is on TH-cam somewhere. Just do a search and you’ll find it.
It was Carl, and his show “ Cosmos,” that gave me an interest in the heavens, astronomy and the wonder that lies beyond our planet’s atmosphere, and stretches on forever!
I miss your wisdom, and thanks for the sense of wonder you instilled in my heart about life on this “ pale blue dot,” and what lies beyond!

  • @supportmerit

Here we are several decades later and things are getting significantly worse than I imagine he imagined.
As a fellow scientist the warming scares me much less than ocean acidification. Plus the resulting water wars that are likely to follow from limited freshwater sources and competition. Topping it all off are tremendous losses of biodiversity, a 33% reduction of global forest canopy, human exceptionalism, and a host of other issues. We have to remember that we are simply the product of 13.8 billion years of the universe trying to figure itself out and the best example Earth has offered. We have to do better and continue to always try and do better forever. ♾️

Name a single species that does it. Even ants colonis will fight each other for resources. Your dream is delusional to the point of insanity. Humans are still the apes fighting each other for territory and food. We're still the repilian mammal hunting other animals for meat. We're still the fish swimming in schools only for the safety and access to mates it provides. We're still the bacteria engulfing the other bacteria and using it to more easily make energy for ourselves. The moment we become what you want us to become, is the moment we no longer qualify as living things.

Leaving them to their vices, will only end in their undoing. the earth is bleeding out and so are the ones who care. well i’m starting to accept it. all they had to do was minor changes back when you brought it up in washington. now those minor changes are a big problem that have brought other problems along with it. I tried help but i don’t care anymore. I’m forced to be amusement for the hoard. I could have easily spoken for this earth not only for its people but for every species that en hábito this once beautiful planet. now as the years go by it eroded bit by bit. all in the name of greed, but what they like to call it excess. everyone wants more and more. At what cost? who cares just give it to me. would be this planets epitaph.

How do you get to heaven?
Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy.
      hell.

@@bigdaddydrip4452 my point was if they were dispassionate, they wouldn't be looking for an explanation. They would just do whatever they want to do.
It's only to a passionate being that we need to offer an explanation and that explanation is that we humans have been on this earth for only a small blip, and in that time we have made huge destructions. Like an aggressive virus, at a point humans were actively killing the planet, and like any aggressive virus, we are learning to live with the host than kill it.

How you explain to this when someone tell you he is the universe ? The first image comes to my mind he would explode into the space according to the discipline of the universe the super power the Big Bang or collapsing in the blackholes.

Observe for what ? As some of your scientists said that we are in the blackhole.

Aliens will not come near us. All we have ever done since our beginning is kill animals, including humans.❤

Because all animals have ever done to us since our beginning was kill us.
It's a dog eat dog world.
Why do you people seem to think the human animal is supposed to be this good, kind harmless thing? Read Ender's Game. If we weren't killers, we'd be extinct, and tigers would rule the world.

We would probably not put forward a philosophical science communicator as spokesman for mankind, because he only speaks for partially engaged couch potatoes. In fact the notion of a spokesman for mankind denotes an extraordinarily high concept of academic hubris.

I would say generate a 3d hologram interface of Carl Sagan as the ambassador of human beings but even that concept would easily get controlled as well. AI / chat GPT could generate presets to whatever officials want it to say. 🤔
