I suggest a luggage type bag with wheels. So you dont have to lug a bag over your shoulder.

I have had one c-section so I have a good idea on what I want to bring, but I like to watch videos like this to help me decide what I should bring with me. I am not even bringing clothes for me because I personally found it easier to just keep wearing the hospital gown because after birth you are a mess. Between the bleeding and breastfeeding it was easier for me to change my hospital gown as many times as I wanted or needed to without ruining my own clothes. Plus it was easy for breastfeeding. I will also say that my hospital gave me Lanolin nipple cream. They also have pumps should you need one and gave me a hand pump as part of my pump parts. Take all those parts home with you too! This time I also bought some silverettes (silver nipple covers) to help with healing those nips. so those are in my hospital bag!

Yes! I totally agree that it’s easier in the hospital gown at first!! Such great ideas. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm 33 weeks pregnant, from South Africa and will be having my third C section at a private hospital, the other two were at a public hospital. Things I'll be definitely taking to the hospital is the following:
    Water
Pajamas 3x button down (I'm planning to breastfeed)
    Nipple cream
    Snacks
    Gown
    Slippers
    Breast pump
    Comestics
    Pads
    High waist underwear
    Breast pads
    Breast milk plastic
Recieve blankets (she will be naked the entire time no idea to stress about outfits)
    Etc

I recommend compression socks versus cozy socks. Compression socks are supposed to help with blood flow and swelling from my understanding. God bless! ❤

I am using compression socks since first trimester. It made alll difference about swollen legs (had to buy more because they ended up loose using every single day😅). So I wasn’t sure about bringing to hospital but it’s a nice idea. Thank you.

Thanks for all the info - but just wondering, if you find that it’s much better without anything over your incision how do find the belly binder? Doesn’t it cause pain being over top of your incision?

Congratulations!! The belly binder I have is the one the hospital gave me when I had my first c section. I have heard that people really like the brand Belly Bandit though. Hope that helps ☺️

When you say u didn’t start having milk till 3 days after, so u mean u weren’t able to produce the milk and breastfeed? I really want to be able to breast feed immediately after birth, and I’m a bit against formula, is it normal to take quite a while to produce after a c section??

    • @KatieAtHome
      @KatieAtHome  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hi! Your body will produce colostrum at birth, it’s not milk but full of vitamins nutrients and just what the baby needs in the beginning, then a few days later your milk typically comes in! It should take the same amount of time for your milk to come in no matter how you give birth. I’m going to film a video on tips to getting your milk to come in fast and how increase your supply in the next week. Stay tuned if you’re interested ☺️
