    Great to see you’ve returned to the naval rules again.
    I’ve been really impatient for some clear explanations for this very daunting section of the rules.
    Thanks, keep bringing it on.

    Great video. Carriers in flames adopted.

    Thank you! I'm learning WiF so this video helps!

      Glad they are helping! The next episode will be on Naval Combat, and that will cover everything in the Action Stage of the turn, which is the bulk of each turn. Then it will be on to the End of Turn Stage (where I'll cover topics like US Entry and Production). Stay tuned, and good luck with the game!

    I have no idea why I'm watching when I don't own the game yet, but enjoying this!

      Glad you are enjoying them! If you want to see how the game plays, check out the Playthrough playlist on my channel (if you haven't already).

      @@thetabletopsedge already watched it fully through haha, was excellent to see how the systems interplay, and lowered my own worries of complexity (whenever I get WiF, it'll be my first massive monster game, and probs my definitive one for ww2 hex and counters xD)

      @@joshuabolt7800 You can certainly do a lot worse than WiF for your definitive WWII grand strategic game. But it IS quite a monster, especially when you add all the deluxe expansions (which are generally worth it, but you can judge for yourself when I get the episodes covering all the optional rules uploaded). Most of WiF's systems are not overly complex. The game's complexity mostly comes through the sheer size of it, and having to manage so many assets on so many fronts.

      @@thetabletopsedge oh trust me, the main reason why I haven't already splurged the amount for the game is that I want to make sure I have all the expansions with it, which means setting up organization plans and just having the money to do it. But I feel it'll be worth it. Thanks for the tutorial and play through series, they've been both helpful and interesting!

      @@joshuabolt7800 For what it's worth, I think you are making the right decision with regards to getting all of the expansions. WiF's hallmark is the detail with which it handles the military aspect of the war (at the grand strategic level), so getting the expansions that maximize the game's best feature is smart. That's not to say that I use everything that comes in the expansions. There are pieces and rules that I never use BUT, the stuff that I do use (which is far more than what I do not) makes them easily worth the steep price tag. Thanks again for watching and I hope you enjoy the future content.

    Hi! Did you ever do a video on WiF expansions/options? I just bought SiF and would love to learn about carried planes.

      @thetabletopsedge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not yet. Although with WiF back on the tabletop, there's a decent chance I'll be able to create a few more of those.

    AFAIK, during WWII, escort carriers where used also to "ferry" planes around.
    Yes... I know that in WiF actual "escort" carriers are abstracted into the Anti-sub-warfare counters, but the game allows you to use _light_ carriers (like Hermes) in the "ferry" rule.

    • @thetabletopsedge
      @thetabletopsedge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have found that the small CV's can actually be pretty useful in ferrying new CVP's from the factories to the front line bases for my main fleet carriers. It's a nice, new change in the Collector's Edition, and one reason why I think this edition is the best one since at least WiF5 (plus all the old modules). And I would not argue too hard if someone were to claim WiFCE is the best edition yet.

      @@thetabletopsedge Having had a long pause from WiF, only having played a few 6th ed games between WiF5 and WiF8/CE I agree that this edition feels very much like having the same qualities as WiF5 ... but mostly on an gut-feeling basis. Not any analysis ;)

    Good video for newbies! Surprised you didn't mention CVPs getting 'smaller' but I assume that will be covered in the future options videos.

    • @thetabletopsedge
      @thetabletopsedge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct! I thought about getting into all the CVP rules, but I wanted to keep the video length down, and decided it would be better to cover the rest of the stuff in the later episode when I cover the optional rule in full. For instance, I do like the way CVP's allow you to upgrade your CV's capability, both as better CVP's become available in later years and also as they decrease in class size. It adds another wrinkle to your naval strategy as you try to decide when the best time is to pull back your CV's to get outfitted with the newer, better CVP's. Thanks for watching!
