      @@thetabletopsedge Im still paying Final Edition, but your videos remain relevant and useful. The rules recaps were insightful. One aspect that I find confusing yet is the mechanics of the US entry/tensions pools. I really look forward to learning more about those,

      @@ohalloranjames I'm glad you are finding the videos useful. As you can see, WiFCE didn't change too much from WiFFE. There are some small map changes, and some rule tweaks. I think the biggest changes were in the force pools. The next tutorial episode will cover the air rules, to be followed by naval movement and combat. Then I'll start in on the End of Turn Stage stuff, with USE coming up near the beginning of that. Stay tuned!

    I am sure there our house wives out there that once they saw this game set up in their home a real world in flames would erupt 😊. Great video.

    cool videos many thanks for the series. very clever setup with these cups. But I would wish you show more detailed letsplay with counter shoving and real dice rolling than just an overview what happened in the turn. I think there is room for a clear and well done letsplay of wif.

      Thanks for the comments! I was planning on doing what you suggest when the German attack on France begins. It is involved enough that I think it would be worth doing a “letsplay” type of video for that. I expect it will happen during either the M/A’40 or M/J’40 turn (depending on the weather). Stay tuned!

      @@thetabletopsedge surely I will observe your channel. I think you are doing a great job in presenting the rules. I played wif often in the beginning 90ties, then stopped but your videos are a motivation to begin with the CE anew.

      @@thetabletopsedge I agree with Klaus. Even if you don't show every move or every battle, having a few of them in the videos wouldn't increase the length that much.

    I really appreciate your videos thanks and keep making them. 2 questions for you. 1. When setting up the global 39 - 45 game, there are several extremely large stacks of ships...ie england, italy and japan, how do you handle this as it does not seem practical to stack them up and work with them? question 2. I am trying to set up china, it is..confusing. There are lots of lines, lines with dates etc. It isnt clear to me where china sets up vs where japan sets up. Can you explain or point to where it is clarified in the rules? Thanks so much.

      Good questions! The best way to answer them is to show you, so look for a short video in the next few days where I address both of your questions in much more detail than I could here in the comments section.

    wait did you deploy the japanese reserves in japan? i have been adding them to the force pool. assuming they have been called up for years and would be included in the unit set up specifications

    • @thetabletopsedge
      @thetabletopsedge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I know what happened. When I mentioned shipping their "reserves" from Japan, I was using it in the generic, real-world military sense, not the game specific "Res" unit definition. The scenario info says Japan and China have called out their Reserves ("Res" units), and so I put them into their respective Force Pools during setup. When selecting units from the Force Pools to be setup on map per the setup instructions, my group has been using a house rule for several years that we choose the units in chronological order (now that every unit has a date on its back), and only use random selection when there are more units with the same year on the back as is needed for setup. We treat the "Res" units as having the earliest year date, so they are always the first units selected to satisfy the setup requirements, and thus will start somewhere on map.
      For example, the Japanese setup calls for 5 INF in "China or Hainan" and 1 INF in "Asia/Pacific". That's a total of 6 INF. Using our House Rule, the Japanese player would select the 2 "Res" INF and then the INF with the year dates of 1932, 1934, 1935, and 1937. He would then setup 5 of those of his choice in "China or Hainan" and the other in "Asia/Pacific".
      Technically, all unit selection is completely random, but our group prefers this chronological variant, and it seems to work out pretty nicely. And, hey, it's WiF, which means if you aren't using at least some house rules, you aren't doing it right!

      @@thetabletopsedge thats an interesting way to do it. we had a different stacking limit, counting divisions as stacking the same as corps because i kept getting demolished as the russians by the 1942 german invasion strategy and i hated it when the only casualties i inflicted on defense were little division units. of course the real problem was bad luck on the all or nothing weather rolls (1 per turn back then) and the no limits on air missions during a land move. both of these issues have been dealt with now though. i am looking forward to seeing how a 42 invasion goes now.

    Thanks for the video!
    How long did the setup take?

    • @thetabletopsedge
      @thetabletopsedge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Using the storage system I use, setup time is about 4 man-hours. In other words, trying to tackle it yourself takes about 4 hours, but two players can do it in about 2 hours, and if you are lucky enough to get 4 or 5 players then that cuts it down to about 1 hour. But considering the big campaign games can take upwards of 100 hours to play, the setup time investment is substantial, but worth it. If playing only the Classic version, setup time is probably halved.
