      Thanks Glenn. Ya I was pretty bummed it went up to $60 for my Catalina 30. I thought $46 was a bit steep before but now it’s $60! Fun trip though 🤙🏼

    It's funny how yday, while at work, the first thing I wanted to do when I got home was to watch the Sole" video I knew was there. I love how you show all of the 'little things' that other channels skip over, like actually handling he mooring lines and the exchanges you have on the radio. Everyone can get the big ticket items from ASA but it's all the little things that are going to make us look like morons. So thx for that.
    And your opening segments are just as addictive as the rest of the video. Pls keep it. Another great vid!

    Another great weekend. Used to anchor at Cat harbor back in the seventies all the time. Idaho potatoes are the best. You have that C30 really running well. From the beginning you have made that boat shine.

    Wow! the price of mooring has really gone up since I was there last. My favorite mooring is Fourth of July Cove, small and very private. Good shot of the Catalina Goldfish the Garibaldi. Fantastic drone footage as well underwater, brings back fond memories. FYI, another thought is a cheap infrared thermometer, to check motor temp. Great video thanks Andy.

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bob. Yeah I have one of those thermometers I just keep forgetting to bring it to the boat. The mooring price is a bummer (more reason to anchor) but the snorkeling was awesome!

    Great vid the calico bass and the octopus shots were really cool !! $60.00 for a mooring FU$K UP is that summer weekend price ? there would be a windless in my future ! LOL

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man. No I don’t think that is an inflated summer price or anything, pretty sure that is the daily rate now. Did you see my photo post about a week ago? I already bought a windlass, just sorting out the installation but it’s coming very soon.

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mike. I’m doing my best to get out as often as I can. I’m using the DJI MAVIC Air (1st gen). It’s pretty old now and doesn’t fly very long but still works pretty well.

    Which AIS did you end up installing on your boat?

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My AIS only receives, it doesn’t transmit my location.
      I have the STANDARD HORIZON VHF w/Hailer, GPS, AIS Rcvr, N2K, Black (GX2400B). It has a small screen of its own as well it will put the AIS targets on my Raymarine Axiom chart plotter screen via the NMEA2000 network.

    Are you still running the electric motor on the Dinghy with the flex solar panel as it looked like that about mid-way in the video? How is it working out or are you still evaluating it?

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Obi Wan, yes I’m still using that same exact dinghy setup as in my video about it. It works pretty well for ship to shore just not long hauls. Been using that setup for nearly two years now and it works great if you’re not in a hurry.

    • @benkanobe7500
      @benkanobe7500 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sailingsole Thanks. I think it is brilliant of you to do it that way. I'm still shopping for a boat and will be going to the auction I learned about from you (with a Buddy to tell me "No" when I get too excited. She knows me well and will make a great Mate). I need to start learning about Dinghys but think whatever I get I will convert to your method (maybe a bigger battery and two of the panels back to back that can be separated if I am by myself)

    • @benkanobe7500
      @benkanobe7500 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sailingsole I keep forgetting to ask, how many feet is your dinghy and can it safely carry three adults for ship-to-shore or is it better to stay with two? How big do they need to get to be safe/comfortable for 3 adults (I'm thinking two adults and groceries or three adults)? For a 27 to 35 foot sloop.

    • @sailingsole
      @sailingsole  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benkanobe7500 my dinghy is 8.6 feet long and can carry three adults safely. It’s all relative really so it’s tough to tell you a formula that works for everyone. 🤙🏼
