This is the best rant on the homeschool internet!!! Gosh I agree with every single word you said and I feel like it should be played as a PSA for every homeschooler! 😅
Between the two of us I feel like we could have just shared resources (because we used so many of the same things) and spent literally half as much - while overindulging in shiny things. LOL.
So much wisdom in this video - and frankly, in all your videos! I'm not a homeschooler, but I discovered your channel during the pandemic and I'm truly grateful to you for sharing your journey.
Beautiful chair and wall color! Yeah I’ve learned to buy curriculum/resources like you would buy an outfit for a specific event rather than “ooh I think I might wear this maybe someday.” Also, “homeschooling dogmas” is a good way to put it.
This was on point Tanya. Boy have I learned the hard and expensive way. The newbies are so lucky to have your wisdom today but I’m happy that you’ve always been here.
Tanya!!! This is such good advice. 10000 times yes! I also have noticed the same judgement in the current homeschool environment. I’m also a proponent of grace and humility, especially as a homeschool coach. Different families have different needs. They are often different than my own. Thank you Thank you Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤I can’t wait to share this.
💯 knocked it out of the park on this lady. Aaaaaaand that notebook thing is brilliant-thanks for saving this vet from continuing the cycle 😂 My husband thanks you as well!
You are an absolute ray of sunshine and this video is fantastic! Thank you for spreading such a beautiful message for those just starting and those of us who have been in the game for awhile.❤
Suuuch great advice. Love all your videos and this one I needed to hear today - with all the spring sales and 20%offs…. I try my best to only buy what we need for the next 6mo or so ❤
Great video and much needed to hear! I plan on using Miacademy. The program looks great and I'm looking forward to giving it a try plus the Writing with skill since he struggles in that area. You and your son seemed to like it from the vid you posted a year ago. I'm going to be a new home school parent to a soon to be 7th grader. I'm excited and nervous but mostly excited. I have noticed myself wondering, "Is it enough? Am I going to be able to teach him adequately?" A little internal doubt but I've shoved that to the side because my son is excited to be home schooled and I'm excited to be the one to teach him and spend more time with him. These years move too fast and before I know it, he'll be an adult.
Well this is timely... even though my daughter is going into 5th grade next year I was considering buying the sixth grade level of her curricula because I found it for a really good price 🤣

Aw, your compliment is so touching. I humbly appreciate the kindness!

What a great way to think about curricula purchases! I’m going to start doing that. Honestly, I need to do it for shoes, too, lol.
Oh, and thanks for the paint color shout out! It’s Gentleman’s Grey by Benjamin Moore. I’m a total paint nerd.
@@ProjectHappyHome thanks! Do you happen to know what sheen and nap was used to roll it? Hubby’s asking 😄

Thanks for the kind words! I learned the hard and expensive way, too - solidarity, my friend. Lol.

Aw, thanks, Della! I appreciate you so much for all the grace you bring to the community. 💚

LOL, you and your husband are so welcome! It;s sadly too late for my husband. ;)
I use a google spreadsheet for my curriculum planning/budgeting!
That's a great idea! Saves so much time on the backend.
@@ProjectHappyHome yeah and i have it bookmarked on my home screen of my phone, so I can access it easily whenever I stumble across anything. 💁
Thank you! I always enjoy your videos.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate your videos. Thank you so much!
Aw, thanks!

Thank you so much! I need these reminders for myself, too, lol.
Great way to address to the “dogma”. It has been a weird (sad) shift for sure!
Yes, I miss the old casual acceptance of different paths - here’s hoping it comes back.
Can I heart this 23 times?! 🙌🏽
We are 🤡 - but we give good advice. 😂
That we are 😂
I hit the like button before the video even began! I knew it was gonna be perfect.

You and me both! It’s so hard to stay calm with so many curriculum sales. Good luck to both of us!!

That’s very exciting! We did enjoy Writing With Skill in 6th and 7th grades. Good luck for your first year!!
