Pretty sure you can still use cards like Kogla and Yidaro's cycling/discard ability as cards in hands/libraries/graveyards don't have a card type until an effect specific to card types in your hand/library/graveyard is present. Although it has been a while since I looked into these rules.

@@MattTorres Negate wouldn't work because of Elspeth Conquers Death, but any 1 CMC counter would since she tapped out for Farewell.

The amount of removal in brawl is ridiculous sometimes. More players in a game would easily fix that problem though.
