Any chance of getting a up to date review of the Dirty Dee and Dusk to Dawn in the 1100 series. With the composite polls and talk about the difference/compare between the two of them
@killenukont4170, the swags havent changed other than a pole update, so the videos would pretty much be the same. We have done a video on the difference between composite swag poles and other swag pole materials here: th-cam.com/video/zHxDLGgQlV0/w-d-xo.html Hopefully that helps! ~ Lauren
For motorcycle adventure use, if you used an Exped so that you didn’t need the big foam mattress, could you fold the canvas swag up into thirds and roll it up, and put it into a compression bag? Those poles look short enough to roll to, and look like they’d fit between panniers across the back seat
If you use a more compressible mattress such as the Megamat, then packed size will certainly be reduced Ronan, if I had to put a figure on it I'd say it would reduce packed size by around 30%. I'm not sure how well the canvas & PVC would go in a compression bag though, you'd probably be better just rolling it up tightly and securing with straps. When comparing this to the compact swags designed for motorcycle touring, I think the Dirty Dee would be a little large even if you take the steps discussed here. I hope this helps, sorry I couldn't be more specific. ~ Ben
They are all pretty bulky, unfortunately, rakatumu. The smallest canvas swag would be the Cooper from Oztrail (www.snowys.com.au/cooper-expedition-single-swag). Alternatively, Black Wolf make a synthetic swag called the Ryebuck (www.snowys.com.au/ryebuck-lite-swag) which is basically a small tent but they class it as a swag and the lighter materials give it a much smaller packed size. I hope this information is useful. ~ Ben
hiking/cycling swag could be the options. Unfortunately most of them have 75cm width and 45-50cm mattress which are very uncomfortable. But the weight would be less than 5kg, still very heavy but possible to be carried on foot.
Dune 4WD Bivy is your best option. It does mostly everything a swag does but it's very light and can be carried. Look into a hiking tent, you will get more room inside and it will be even more lightweight. Some great ones out there for a decent price...
We didn't film this bit sorry Hugh Jazz. Darche tends to be realistic with the size of their storage/carry bags though, most of their products pack away in their respective bags without too much of a struggle. ~ Ben
So I have this swag and it came with a 150mm black rod in it that sort of looks like part of a pole. What is it because I have no idea where it's supposed to go or if it's meant to be a spare or something
It sounds like you are referring to the tent pole repair sleeve, Andy, I think the Dirty Dee comes complete with one of these. They are designed to slide over the top of the pole in the instance of a breakage to get you out of trouble until such point that you can repair or replace the broken section. I hope this answers your question. ~ Ben
They are very similar, Jason, we are currently in discussions about how we can help customers differentiate between the two brands as a lot of their products are almost identical. ~ Ben
Really great review! Considering this swag. Do you think the swag could be rolled up with the mattress inside as an alternative to removing the mattress every time? Obviously the roll wouldn't be as compact and wouldn't fit in the bag provided but I'd definitely consider this as an alternative and throw the large roll on the roof tray and save a few steps if there were no drawbacks? Thanks!
Yep, I'd certainly recommend keeping mat up inside, DreamerSeas. The mat comes rolled up separately when the swag is purchased but it is best to leave it inside when packing the swag away after each use. As you mention, it will be bulkier, but quicker to set up when you get to camp. ~ Ben
If you order from Bundy outdoors, you can buy the swag without the mattress and then buy your own self inflating mat to save space and depending on which one you get, it will likely be more comfy too! Sorry Snowy's, love you guys too...
@@jacobharris1846 we've got them too, they are the BYOS range, as in Build Your Own Swag. Check them out here - www.snowys.com.au/dirty-dee-900-byo-swag, www.snowys.com.au/dirty-dee-1100-byo-swag, www.snowys.com.au/dirty-dee-1400-byo-swag ~ Ben
Good idea, Rhi, we'll add this to our list. There's probably a number of slightly different methods here, we'll see if we can collate all the best ideas we have here at Snowys, and put them into a video for you as soon as we can. ~ Ben
We'll add it to the list Parkour guy sam. Our video guy is going to be away for a few weeks so it may be a while till we can put something together. I reckon I can get a few snapshots inside our display model and post them on our product page for you though. I'll try and get this done for you today. ~ Ben.
Heya Parkour guy sam, we've uploaded a few extra images to our product page here for you www.snowys.com.au/mitchell-expedition-swag. G'day Parkour Guy Sam, Sorry for the hold up - we've just posted our review of the Oztrail Mitchell Expedition Swag: th-cam.com/video/azX4iw_EP70/w-d-xo.html Let us know what you think? Laine
I don't think we can get our hands on the King Tourer at the moment sorry GeneralZang. I'll make a note of it though, and we'll put something together as soon as we can. ~ Ben
Good morning GeneralZang, I've just checked our pipeline of products that we have coming into the store, and the King Tourer isn't in there sorry. Not so say we won't be getting them in the future, but we won't be able to put a review together for you anytime soon sorry. ~ Ben.
G'day Brian B, I agree that the poles on this make it similar to a tent set up. Dome swags like the Dirty Dee are a very popular style though, and there is a lot of feedback about their fast setup time. Cheers, Sonia
Could be such great swag BUT... Super - SUPER! shit poles. Don't buy this product unless you're happy to keep purchasing new poles at 70 plus dollars a pop. I've owned one for two years. The swag is a great design. Excellent canvas. But the poles bend and break in a decent wind.
It's actually already on our 'to-do' list killboy 633. Our video guy is away for a few weeks so it may be a little while till we can put it together, we'll let you know once it's done. ~ Ben.
City slicker! Let ME tell you!!!!!!. BOY!!! TENTS NEED PEGS AND POLES!!!! Swags, DO NOT. IF IT NEEDS PEGS AND POLES, THEN, IT"S A "TENT".NOT A SWAG!!!!!!!
I agree, Kerry. Some swags take as longa s a tent to set up! Personally, if I'm going to spend that long setting something up I'll set up a tent and have more space. My swag is a simple envelope style swag with a zip down each side - no poles or pegs, but dome swags like the Dirty Dee are the most popular style. ~ Ben
I've just watched 3 minutes of this you're a total professional.
Thanks, Mark. ~ Ben
Looks like enough room, for a stretcher bed internally, off the ground, personal favourite. Good swag and video.
The foot does taper down though @David Smith, so it would depend on what stretcher you had in mind, and how high it was.
~ Lauren
Great vid. Awesome detail.
Thanks, Gary. ~ Ben
I totally think these are excellent!
Thanks Jack, they're pretty great. The frame work makes it alot roomier than a tradition swag!

Thanks for this video!

Cheers for the review. Very detailed, good work.
Looks like a great 👍 product.
These are a popular swag, Hunter. ~ Ben
Lovely.
Thank you for not having the music 😊

i,ll get one for back of ute who needs a rooftop tent, that,ll do the job

Nice swag. Is the foam mattress that egg crate type or is it solid?
Its a flat foam mattress @Outdoors5352 - some people add their own egg foam topper for extra comfort
~ Lauren
Is there a swag that can be carried on foot, by hikers or homeless for example.

It gets back in the bag perfectly fine. And the bag has extra tightening straps on it to make it better on your roof rack
So I have this swag and it came with a 150mm black rod in it that sort of looks like part of a pole. What is it because I have no idea where it's supposed to go or if it's meant to be a spare or something

just wondering do the two foot end windows zip shut or just velcro?
It's just velcro tabs t keep these shut Emrys, there is two tabs on each side and they keep the cover closely secured to the swag. ~ Ben
