Your PCT thru hike video is by far my favorite. Probably my favorite thing on YT. I think I have watched them all at least 3-5 times. Please don't ever take them down!!
Your PCT video was my first one. I remember coming across it during the COVID pandemic, with nothing to do, and nowhere to go. I wasn’t there, but for some reason, seeing this 5 years later, makes me feel nostalgic for memories that aren’t mine.
Since 1982 and my 1st PCT thru attempt, the trail has always been there simmering through decades of parenting 6 kids. Re-igniting the flame in 2018/19 and watching your (& others) videos Elina, i finally set foot on the Trail again on March 12, 2020, only to be forced to retreat back to Oz 10 days later. And finally returning to the 🇺🇸 in ‘21 (before dubious entry mandates came into force) I was able to complete my end-to-end continuous footpath goal Since then I have thought of the PCT every day (yes, Every Day!) Now, After three years of helping care for dying relatives, as i dictate this I am on my regular 10km,10kg training hike and it’s exactly 299 days, until I start again at Campo on the spring equinox. OMG can’t wait. Thanks for your videos Elina. Your ‘People’ video is the one I always shared to anyone wanting to know about the Trail Clint🇦🇺
I have seen many PCT and thuhiking videos in the past. Your PCT video series is what really changed my life. Last year I quit my job and thruhiked the PCT SOBO. I changed my outlook on life ever since I returned to normal society. As a result, next year I plan to quit my job again to finish the last 800 miles I have of the AT from Georgia to Virginia. Then end my triple crown goal till I’m older. Then go over to Switzerland to meet back up with my friends I met on the PCT last year. This time not to hike, but to catch up and explore with my girlfriend. Until that time I will continue hiking 30-60 mile days in VT, NH, and ME. As well as running more ultra Marathons. I just ran a 60 mile race a few weeks ago. I want to thank you for expanding my mind and changing my life. Without your series I would have never done what I did.
I watched the whole series 5 years ago and randomly stumbled across this video today! I remember when I watched the series for the first time, I felt like I knew everyone so well. It was so good to see them all and hear what they're up to. And I echo what everyone else has commented: watching you hike the PCT made me feel like I could take on anything hard and come out the other side. I watched the series when I was studying hard and struggling to get into medical school, and now, here I am, five years later finishing my second year of med school! Hard things can be achieved. Thank you so much, Elina. Your work, your challenges, your beauty....it's all such a gift and I am just happy to be able to partake in a small piece of it.
Tip Tap, I just completed my thru-hike of the PCT. Your videos were my first ever interaction with the trail - I'd never even heard of it before that... Thank you so much! You literally changed my life and I'll be forever grateful. - Tea Time
I remember watching your PCT hike while I was doing and filming my first walk across America. Now, five years later, this video is making me relive your hike while I'm walking and filming my third walk across America.
I remember watching the PCT videos 5 years ago and being so inspired. I am now just, if not more, inspired by your authenticity and joy in your videos!!!
its been 4-5 years?! Time flew by and that's how long I've been following your content. I loved your PCT videos and inspiring for sure. Back in 2021, I did a cross-country backpacking/road trip and hiked at least 15+ National Parks. Best time ever and plan to hike often. I agree that Post Trail Depression is real. I would bikepack someday in the future. 😊
No way… thats 5 years already ? For me your movie was absolutly life changing moment. It grow Inside of me for two year when i was rewatching it every few months. After that i decide to change everything and move to Canada. Now i still thinking how i promised myself that when i would be lost In life i have to go and do some long thruhike. Te araroa is still calling today and i think next year would be the year. Thank you for your amazing journey and great videos. Thank you.
I can’t believe it’s been five years since first stumbling into your filmmaking. Thank you. I’m always looking forward to your next adventure. Peace and happiness beautiful Elina.🦋
Your videos inspired me. Finished my own PCT NoBo hike 2023. Your video made me make my desition... now Im "Worth it" (trail name) and Im a thruhiker from sweden... thank you 👏🏻
It’s beautiful to see how the trail changed each of you in different yet similar ways. Those friendships are to be cherished always. Thank you for letting us peek in and share in a bit of the nostalgia, laughter and joy.
Wow, has it really been 5 years?! How time flies by. That film was life changing for me & your films always make me feel like the world is endless. I loved watching this film. Great job Elina. Thank you for always making my day better when I watch your videos! ☺️ I hope you’re doing well!
I just got home from a short hike and while out I found myself thinking back on having to cancel my PCT2020 attempt for covid. I never thought that I was cliche running from anything but I know now that I wanted to leave my job. You were part of the inspiration to hike it and I still love you're videos and would like to but I no longer feel the same need to go hike the PCT since I changed jobs. Thank you for sharing this update.
Beautiful video. You are so talented in telling the story of human’s challenging themselves and exposing themselves in a vulnerable and respectful way. Wow.
Wow... can't believe this was 5 years ago now! I've never met any of you, but I immediately know we'd all have one incredible time together in a coffee shop or a mountain top haha I feel like meeting people in moments when you're each pushing your limits - no matter what it is - is just such a deep and cool bonding experience. Great to see the recap and where everyone is now!
This entire series was my lockdown love! A real moment in time I wish I could revisit for the first time. Such storytelling and passion. Thank you Elina❤️
I did three summer seasons working with youth on trails in the conservation corps world and I'm choosing to not continue this summer after graduating college. So many of the sentiments in this mirror all the things I'm feeling after going through some hard shit, making some really amazing memories, and growing so much as a person. Especially with you showing everyone's trail names then their other names. It felt like the closing of a chapter and a start to a new one. What a beautiful experience to have lived. Thank you for sharing.
So awesome. I liked this so much. I am a PCT section hiker myself and when I long for the trail I often turn to the original PCT video this was based on. And for the most part, it's true: it is the people. So good!
I started watching your PCT videos a day or two after new years 2021 and now I have seen them all probably 10 times. They had such a profund impact on me and my life, it's hard to describe. I truly enjoyed watching this video and to get those insights 5 years later. Thanks for putting it together. I hope you go hike the CDT with parts of the blob at some point. It would be epic to watch.
I watched your PCT series when it first came out! I was in high school at the time and it inspired me to pursue thru hiking and the outdoor industry in general! Three outdoor seasonal jobs later and this is awesome to look back at!
What a great film! I have hiked the A.T. twice and 1000 miles of the PCT but then got altitude sickness on the PCT and then found that I've had Lyme Disease for at least 20 years. I was on a walker for 2 years but since have improved to walking mostly without a cane. Now, at 71 years old, my hiking days are done. Thru hiking definitely changed my life for the better.......much better! geek
Very cool idea. As we can see, the girls are settling down and the boys are still on the move 😉. Reminds me of myself, starting my first thru August 21st and am going to celebrate my 50th birthday on trail 😊🚀 Very nice to see Jerome again, didn't know until now that he quitted.
Elina, you were the first channel I watched covering the journey of the PCT. Have watched all your adventures. Amazing storytelling and driven visuals to enhance the feelings.
I got goose bump when I heard the words "Reunion Tour." Then I instantly teared up. Lets make it happen. I'll be the first to donate funds for help the group make this happen.
I watched your PCT videos after a really challenging day at my summer student position. It was the perfect escapism and inspiration that life was more than my shitty situation on that day.
Wow!!! I've been a fan of your video blogs or vlogs, especially this amazing episode - WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Your storytelling and filming just keep evolving with time. Thank you so much!!! Keep rocking these incredible videos out for us. The Trail Gods has much better acess to our hearts when it is open to inspiration, guidance, and acceptance. Happy Trails... Coconut Wireless aka Kapiko (PCT 2014, 2018). ALOHA
HI Elina. I recently discovered a song which made me think of you, because you're great at incorporating music into your videos (thanks to you I discover Prince of Spain's "Explore"). The song is "Hi Ren", and to me, in regards to you, is it's a song of camaraderie between creative people who have the courage to persist and share their meaningful work with the world. On another level, it's about the struggle of being human and how to gracefully navigate life. The song popped off a year ago, so you might have already heard it, but if not I think you'll find it moving and inspiring. I hope life treats you kindly and best wishes.
Just wanted to say thank you. Your pct video was one of the ones that put the thru hike dream in my head. I’ll be doing my first thru hike this summer and will be starting with the Colorado Trail to get my toes wet a bit and couldn’t be more excited!
You are all so young. I am doing everything opposite of you, where I did all my athletic challenges when I was younger, and want to do my first “major” thru-hike in the PCT after retiring. I would love to have learned the lessons you all learned on the PCT at the age you learned them.

can only speak as somebody who's section-hiked (not thru-hiked) parts of both. but it's kind of hard to go from the grand vistas of the PCT to the green tunnel of the AT. (and also personally I'm slightly scared of the ticks of the AT and getting lyme disease)
Not much to look at on the AT. You're just in the middle of the woods the whole time and the scenery is just about the same the entire time. On the PCT you travel through several different environments, sometimes in the same day. And the views are simply on another level.
This video made me open my eyes of freedom..... i sold my house and im on my bycicle in spain now and just cross the Pyreneeën... I love it..... the freedom😂😂❤❤
