- In this video I cut the front shock tower off and l move it in to fix my hood and fender alignment. As well as figuring out why it stopped running! Then we do burnouts!

Hi. Your story resonates so much with me. My first car was a 83 mk1 gti. It was the only vehicle I could afford and bought it out of necessity and not choice. I have since owned mk1s as I have fallen in love with them. Keep up the good work. All the way from South Africa

@Gti Joe . Here in south africa, the golf mk1 was produced up until 2010. It then became known as a citi golf. There were different iterations of the bumpers, fenders, seats and even the dash boards. Vw sa even built an mk1 with a 1.8t engine in it but never went into production as they deemed it too unsafe. The last year of the mk1 saw the car even released with a drivers airbag. Just some useless info I thought that you would find intruiging.

Like most folk of a certain age, I also sadly sold too may MK1 GTI’s for pennies back in the day. I currently have a 1990 Mk2 Scirocco that’s almost ready for the road after being garaged since 2004. I dream of having a decent MK1 golf again. Love the rat look.

I dig the Giugiaro lines so hard that even when it's al rusty I find the car incredibly sexy especially lowered on those Porsche rims. Same with a Delta Integrale. I hope you finish this car. I am keeping an eye on the progress from now on. And I never heard of Jimmy rigged before, I thought it was Jerry or Jury rigged...love the term either way, one of my favorites together with 'Bob's your uncle' and 'Snafoozle'

hi do you know what that engine noise is through 11:55 that sounds like a leaf stuck in your bike spoke? ive been hearing it recently on my vr at specific rpms while driving thanks!
I’m actually not sure what that was I noticed it in the video as well but once it was outside It went away.

Man I thought my mk2 was rough 😂 Does your girl actually ride in that thing? I remember back in the day I picked up a mk1 and girl I was dating was like "Why did you buy this..." I was like come on get it, went to open the door for her and the door handle just ripped in half 😂

Why are you using this rotten vehicle with such aggressive rust.
Best idea would be to take it all apart, weld in a bunch of new structural work, then have it acid etched and then galvanised - preferably hot dipped.
If you don’t fix that rust the car won’t exist in a few years
In the future i plan to make a skid plate for sure!
