🙋♂Hello Vincenzo! I have been using and collecting fountains pens for over 55 years. In my opinion, Conid is overpriced compared to older pen manufacturers. Do they make great pens?... Yes! The Chinese pen makers have improved vastly in the past 10 years or so, making some excellent quality pens. Though I own a few Asvine pens, the V200 is their pinnacle of great workmanship and quality. Thank you for sharing this review and kudos from NYC.🗽
Either Doodlebud or Doug Rathburn showed that the Asvine and Bock nibs were not interchangeable because the Bock nib unit is threaded and the Asvine is friction fitted. Worth checking their reviews before you try to achieve the impossible! I do not know if you can do it by removing the nibs and feeds from the respective housings.
In the end I am really happy with my Asvine Fine nib. Now I have to try their extra fine. I can't believe I am saying this. 3 months ago there is no way I would buy anything less that Broad. Talk about evolution or revolution in my case. LOL
For the Bock-Asvine nib comparison, I think they were dealing with a P36, which, by the way, supposedly actually does have a screw-in Bock nib unit EVEN THOUGH it can be terribly difficult to unscrew it when new (...according to a post on Reddit from a P36 Titanium owner...).
When you receive your V200 with the Bock nib, I would love to know "definitively" (from a hands-on owner) if the Bock nib is friction-fit or if it is a screw-in unit. Also, if you have an Asvine screw-in nib unit available - AND - if the V200 Bock nib unit can be screwed out, is the Asvine unit interchangeable with the Bock unit? NOTE: I have a couple of Opus 88 pens with Bock screw-in units. The Opus 88 Bock nib units will easily screw in to my Asvine P36, BUT because the Opus 88 collar is a bit longer, it will not go in all the way (i.e., leaves about 1/8" of the collar exposed.) Mine just arrived this morning! It's fantastic! I was eyeing CY's KYUSEIDO KOSUMI FS TITANIUM pen at Stationery Fest which lead me to this alternative! One day I'll get his but this is so good for the price!
Thank you, fellow TH-camr for weighing in and sharing this. I have four of these pens and in three of them I’ve changed the nibs and replaced them with fountain pen Revolution ultra flex nibs. You have to try it.
The style and materials are the same as the P36. I like it a lot. My only concern has been the inability to fully fill the pen. Yes, I know there is a method to do so but I always thought 2 or 3 pumps of the pen should do it. Other than that the price point is very good for pen using titanium. Very good review, Vincenzo.
Nice review Vincenzo. Mine arrived yesterday, and I'll be inking it up tonight to write with it. The closest I've come to having it aligned while capped is to start with the nib feed facing up towards the clip, and even then, the alignment isn't perfect. The nib is in a nib unit so you should be able to unscrew it out of the section. The only thing is, they are put in pretty tight fitting. Finally, the PenBBS 355 is far more like the Conid Bulk filler with the only difference being how the rod connects to the piston in order to operate it.
I have the Asvine P20 in an extra fine nib and I have to say it writes better than some of my more expensive pens. I will definitely purchase this, thanks for another great review!
I just got mine. I swapped the nin for a Bock Titanium nib and it is a great writer. I think it is a bit mor comfortable in the hand than the P36. One of the better pens thst has come out this year.
After a disappointing purchase from TWSBI with my Eco, I'm definitely trying an Asvine P20. I will probably try one of these or the V126 for my first vac filler. Got my fingers crossed they'll work out 🤞🏼
The big issue with this pen is plastic threads on the piston knob will get chewed up by the metal threads of the pen. Those threads are quiet sharp. Put some silicone grease on those metal threads for a little protection.
I completely agree! I am waiting for the arrival of a V126, and am thinking what to do to remedy that potential problem. I am thinking to disassemble the mechanism and try to remove the sharp burrs with a file, or metal sanding paper. It would be great if Asvine made an all-metal piston knob.
I don't like the smooth grip especially when writing with a dry hand which can become slippery. For the rest I find it a very nice pen. Thanks Vincenzo
Great review, Vincenzo! I just received mine. I decided on a Bock nib due to the fact I currently have several nibs/nib assemblies by Bock and what the flexibility of swapping. And, my experience with Asvine nibs hasn't been that inspiring (think "baby's bottom"). Anyway, my initial impression is photos and videos do not do justice to this pen i.e., way better in person! BTW ... "SHAK MD" just posted a video on how to align that clip with the nib. Ciao!
2 ways to align nib. - tighten bock nib unit, find an orientation of the cap that is closet to that bock nib orientation and loosen the bock nib by a little to match the capping orientation. - remove the clip by unscrewing the cap finial and use the pen without it. Or 3rd, move the clip accordingly but this will not match the engraving with the clip and nib.
Just got mine in medium. Really liking the cylindrical design. I do notice slight difference to the medium nib on my Asvine V126. That being the V126 is smoother and lines more even in perpendicular directions, but both still writes great.

I can see them doing it this way so that the nib is on full display through the cap while it is on a horizontal surface and the view is not blocked by the clip on the cap.

SEATING THE NIB TO THE CENTER OF THE CLIP. Screw the cap slowly in place until it seats. Is it centered? If not, slowing unscrew the cap with the slightest amount of downward pressure on the pen body until you hear the tiny click of the threads. Screw it back in place and the nib should be centered under the clip.
Its very subjective. That flat top look appeals to me more . I guess the cigar rounded shape is so prevalent that the flat top is a nice change. It also reminds me of the Conid that I will never buy.
The PenBBS 355 has been my favorite pen for years now, and quick correction - it is NOT a vacuum, it is a bulkfiller just like the V200. Having to wait over a month for replacement 355s is painful. The V200 looks really interesting to me because it looks functionally identical to the 355 **and** it's available from amazon with 2-day. I just used your affiliate link - I look forward to putting it through its paces in a few days. Also - since I don't fly I always remove the rubber seal at the end of the plunger. I really dislike having to partially unwind the finial for long writing sessions.
That may very well be because if you shut the valve, whatever ink is in the unit may eventually dry up. On the other hand the cap on this pen has a great seal and it has never dried up on me.
If Conid was able to price itself down to as low as $50, I would say this Asvine is straight brutal clone. Otherwise, Asvine is a much more reasonable choice than Conid to most people. I never understand that some channel claiming "$1000 pen from a new brand being at reasonable price", unless they were paid to say so.
You can unscrew the top finial and move the clip where you like, but then the clip doesn’t line up with the company logo. So you have to decide which causes your ocd more trouble.
If your nib does not line up, do not touch the top finial and move the clip because the clip should come lined up to the "Asvine" on the cap ring. However the nib and feed are part of a nib unit. All you have to do slightly tighten or loosed the entire nib unit so that it lines up. Obviously do not over tighten. I have done this with every demonstrator that I have as it not lining up bothers me too.
Nice review. When the pen is posted and the vacuum nob is open, does the cap spin with the nob? That's an annoyance of the V126 which otherwise is a great pen.
Just tested it again , yes it is nice and snug but if you turn it enough there is a spin. The good thing is that unlike piston filler there is no mess. Those O-rings will eventually get used up and may even pop out. In the doodlebud review thats what happened.
Please! Get to the pen as you found it. If I want anyone else's view I'll find it. And (on esthetic grounds) NOT a gold nib! that would cheapen the look - even if sold gold!

isn't conid a buck filler (fancy name for vac filler with extras) ? in which part is the asvine v200 a conid clone ? a clone means that it also have those extras that conid has which i dont see in this pen. this pen is just like any vac filler but NOT a conid (I am still waiting for a conid clone!) dont get me wrong, I am very happy to purchase a conid clone as conid is f**king overpriced inflated price if you will but still better than spending on a pelikan or f**king stupid montblanc ! (the 149 sucks big time that i sold mine and use a majohn which is much smoother !)

My understanding from doodlebud is that the Bock unit is a screw in unit. But I love my asvine nibs.

Prices went up, yes, but it seems the quality as well. So that should be OK with most customers, I guess.
Indeed and they are still cheaper than most main stream brands.

As to alignment, lay the pen on a table with the clip to the right side and see if the nib is strait up and down.

I got you, What you are saying is that if the nib lines up with the clip the clip will hide the top of the nib. A very interesting twist to all this.

Another way to fill the pen (for a full fill) is to remove the section and use a syringe- I do that with all my vac fillers.
I don't have mine yet, so I'm not certain.....
But I THINK the top finial loosens such that you can realign the clip however you want with the nib.
I have dropped any attempt to align it. No longer important for me. The pen is just a great pen.

On my P36 to get the nib up I start threading with the nib in that position. Not sure if this is the case with the V200 though.

The nob has o-rings and they fit snuggly and deeply and when fitted properly there is no spin.

Yes, the barrel is metal and the cap is plastic. But it is extremely well done, Smooth and precise.
The only thing which prevents the v200 and the p36 from becoming iconics is their inability to post deeply.
The posting is better with the V200 but it is still has issues. Ultimately the pen is just to big to be posted.
