She looks Beautiful. Love the woodgrain look. I had a Ric back in the 80s and foolishly sold it. After watching your video, Im ordering a kit and building my own "RIC" style Bass
A cool trick is to mix your first coat of sanding sealer 50/50 with alcohol. It still seals but it lets more stain color through for more dramatic effects. Cheers.
I’ve seen a couple of these kits before from different companies. There’s currently one that you can buy with the Rick headstock, from the guitar kit fabric. It’s the exact same as the one that got taken down from the fretwire a few years ago.
@@FultonStreetBeats I was skeptical when I preordered it. The site didn’t really have much reviews on their products. But I did actually end up receiving it. There’s no pre drilled holes at all so everything has to be done yourself.
Cool trick with the baking soda man, Cheers? After my p bass build I plan to do a rickenbacker style bass with a gibson mudbacker neck pickup. Can't wait.
You did a great job . I have one that I'm starting but I have a question. Did you tilt the neck any? I mocked up the neck and I have the bridge set to middle height and the saddles just touch the strings . I think there will be plenty of tread on the saddle to set my string height but I would prefer not to have the bridge jacket up.
I got a proper copy of Rick Bridge before I started, and to get your 44 inch to Nut, I couldn't put neck all way in, to get intonation etc, was so glad I tried it first before I glued neck in, otherwise Bridge would had been hanging over bottom edge
Nice!! GREAT way to get OWN a “Rickenbacker Style” Bass‼️✨🎸🎶👍🏾😎..and that Natural Stain is AWESOMELY COOL‼️ I’ll bet you’re a bit a nerved of which Bridge choice is best tho’ huh!?? 🤨🤔? How’d it end up??..and you’ve SOLD IT!! Right?🥹

Just ordered one of these kits, will be here in two days. I wanted to go with a rusty copper type look for the hardware, but I cant find the plum blossom style machine heads I had came across on Amazon, kinda bummed but I'll figure out what options I want after I build it. Really excited, going to have my son help me paint and build it.
I just got the kit in the mail, and I'm beyond impressed. Neck is straight as an arrow, all fretwork is done, no nicks dings or blemishes. it even came with a bunch of copper tape to line the wiring cavity. Was planning on painting it, but the grain looks really nice lol, now I have a debate on my hands. Not a big fan of stained instruments, but I may make an exception lol.
Thank you.... No I also shielded the pickup cavities when I routed out for a new pickup on another video. Although the pickups are wax potted so it really didn't make a big difference.
Thanks for the excellent video! Have wondered how well the neck joint on these Ricken type guitars holds up over time. It seems like the tenons are fairly short. Do you think necks on these will stay straight, in alignment over time? Also, checked Leo Jaymz site and unfortunately, don't see any Ricken style 6 or 12 string guitars listed. Would love to build each of them, if were available, or buy assembled, if no kit.
Thank you. Time will tell about the neck however I didn't see anything that really scared me about the length into the pocket. As long as butts up against the cutout all should be well. I have heard stories of necks pulling up and out. But that would be due to improper set time and or using the wrong glue type. As far as a Rick style guitar goes, I am also looking. My only luck finding a kit is on Aliexpress or DH Gate. But I am constantly looking for one to pop up. Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for watching.

@@FultonStreetBeats Thanks for the link....That one looks a bit crude to my eyes....maybe it's partly due to the one listed is the last one available out of 100 total....
I just bought this kit and I noticed that when I mate the neck and pick guard that the pick guard is not aligned with the screw pattern on the body. Did you not also encounter this problem?
No I did not have any pickguard fitment issues. I did however have to trim the pickguard where the neck meets it a touch. But all of my holes did lineup.
NO!!!! That's BAKING POWDER, not BAKING SODA. The trick is to use BAKING SODA! Baking powder has corn starch and other things in it. Baking Soda is pure sodium bicarbonate.

I've been waiting for this one! Rock n Roll Fulton!

Oops, forgot to ask, about how long would you see it takes to assemble and finish one of these kit guitars? 8 - 10 hours maybe?
Mike did you do the poly?
Poly and stain in one. First Black Varathane followed by expresso.
