I used the global west staggered solid bushings. They give the Carnatic a wicker stance in the frame. More responsive directional changes and the resulting stance change is to die for. (Ie. Looks lower on the frame but gives some ground clearance.)
Thank You for the video! I have a 79 Camaro and have not changed them yet. Is the ride too stiff and/or did you feel more engine vibration inside the car? with the solid bushings?
I have not noticed any extra vibrations inside the car, I'm sure there is an increase but not enough to make me notice. Ride comfort hasn't really changed much but the overall feel of the car's suspension has stiffened up slightly. It's not a night/day difference but it was definitely an improvement.
@@ehw1615e I completely understand! Any decent shop should be able to take of this in under two hours. Don't be afraid to get out and try it yourself though! I've taken on a lot of stuff I haven't done before in the last few months and careful planning, research, with a bit of common sense have led to everything being a success!
I didn't drive it much after I got it before replacing them. The bushings are insulators between the front subframe and the unibody so they absorb some vibrations and if they have failed completely, that section of the subframe has no support between it and the body of the car. Be on the listen for creaks/groans, feeling excessive vibrations, and in situations where all the bushings have failed, the entire subframe will be shifting under the car so it will be very unstable and noisy. Highly recommend replacing all of them if you see one going out. Chances are others aren't far behind and the other bushings are having to support more of the load.
Visual/ inspection by feel is, at least in my opinion, the easiest way. Problems may not start to be really noticeable until several of the bushings have failed.
