Dude pulls Hack and DNA, two of the most busted Jokers in the game, on literally the first two shops of his second run (and the first was even holo!). Yet here I am, over 20 runs in, and I haven’t seen either of them _once._
I really appreciate the live learning process being shown. I feel like Balatro came out and everyone I saw playing was already extremely well-versed in the game (or pretending to be at some points, which was annoying) and I'd bet if I was getting kinda exhausted by it others were bouncing off the game thinking it was too complex/fast-paced for them before ever checking it out. Feel like we have too much pressure in games for everyone to be an expert immediately when failure is part of learning and everyone learns at their own pace. Thanks for sharing this Chilled, I know it must sometimes be nerve-wracking to do this sorta stuff but I deeply enjoy/appreciate it.
2:40 it's all right, especially for early game, but late game, you want effects that trigger with each card played, and/or that MULTIPLY your mult score instead of just adding to it
Or things that actually scale well. Wee Joker scales chips in a 2s build, Fortune Teller can scale mult REALLY fast in certain builds, the pants are pretty good in a Full House build, etc. But generally you're looking for the things that retrigger cards played and things that do things when cards are scored, or just big xMult and a solid base mult. Hack to retrigger your Lucky 2s of Hearts, with Wee Joker, Lucky Cat, Bloodstone, and one or even two Oops All 6s? Maybe throw in a Blueprint and a Fibonacci, and perhaps even a Hiker? You've got an incredible build if you can modify your deck to have enough Lucky 2s of Hearts and not much else.
4:10 - Those eight cards are in _your_ hand. The cards you play are _hands played_ . "In hand" refers to being in _your_ hand. "When scored" refers to a card that's active in the _hand played_ ; hands can contain inactive cards (like the fifth card of a Two Pair; you can also call these "kickers", in the sense that you're kicking them to the discard). "When played" refers to all cards in the hand played. Effects that refer to your hand will say "your hand". Effects that refer in general to hands played will say "hands played". The terms are a little confusing at first, but once you've got the difference, it's easy to keep track of. It also helps that there are very few effects that refer to "hands played" like the Hook does.
I laughed when I saw ChilledChaos name on this Balatro video. It's just people i watch play this insanely fast "like gamblers". I hope Chilled have fun playing something "new" like this. :)
One of the best ways to thin the deck is to use Justice to glass the cards you don't want, and play them until they break. Worst case, you get the mult from the glassed card more than once.
Been watching Cheesy play and LOVING it. Now that you're giving it a whirl I'm ecstatic! What an AMAZING run though! It definitely keeps you playing with the different decks and difficulty levels!
If he only stuck with DNA x2 on the glass double proc ace! He could've had a guaranteed 5 of a kind each round! The doubling would've made the mult x2^9 minimum!
Shouldn't have discarded when you had that -1 mult joker per discard. You can just play your discards as a High Card just to gain more multipliers. That Ace combo would have carried you in a single hand.
Speaking as someone who has beaten Gold Stake with most of the decks (some of the early decks I just don't find particularly fun tbh, so I haven't taken Red Deck past Black Stake), I'mma be real with you: even if I saw a polychrome Green Joker, I might not take it unless it's free and I had an open slot. It's that bad. Sure, it _can_ scale, but realistically, if I don't have Burglar, Banner, or Delayed Gratification, I'm not gonna get it because it tanks your economy. IMO, it's a trap, plain and simple. Think of every +1 mult you farm from it, or each hand you play to avoid discarding, as costing $1 when you get it and $0.2 per round after - because that's the tradeoff. Every extra hand you spend to get it up is $1 less at the end of that round, and $1 less to be accruing that 20% interest on in future rounds.
@@loganshaw4527 negative polychrome doesn't exist. There's no free negative I wouldn't always take besides Madness (bc it destroys other jokers) or Marble/Certificate (bc they prevent thinning to win). or in specific builds, a few others: Burglar (in case of a discard build or if I have 4+ discards) Troubadour (if my build scales based on hands played, eg a Vampire+Midas Mask build) Merry Andy/Stuntman (if hand size is important to my build bc, say, Red Seal Steel cards) Midas Mask/Vampire (if I have Lucky or Glass cards I rely on) Oops All 6s (in a glass card build w/o a pre-existing Glass Joker and a triple DNA / Perkeo+Cryptid setup) I mean, even those I'd take for free and then sell for profit IG. But the others I'd take even if they did literally nothing bc they're Temperance money, and insurance for Verdant Leaf and Crimson Heart
This was a very enjoyable video to watch and the game looks very fun. Was still really annoyed that he wasn't boosting green joker enough early on. If he did, the game could've gone on way longer I feel.
Chilled: i do not know what i am doing. Me: at least he is honest about it. Alot of youtubers bluff that they do know what they are doing in a new game they did not research about before hand. You always get different jokers there is a large and later massive joker pool that is chosen form. Have fun chilled the card pool is the hand the one you thought was hand was cards trying to play and only poker plays count as played.
This was fun! If you plan to play more, I'd recommend bumping up the game speed under options. It makes it a better viewer experience having the game move a bit quicker.
Tbf glass cards is the best way to get big numbers, especially with red seal. with double DNA glass red seal is probably the best thing for him to duplicate
Watching chilled learn the game was both hilarious and frustrating at the same time, anyway it was a great stream lol
Insane props to Chilled for making it to Ante 11 in his first winning run

It do be ballin'. Side note - Peglin Poglin
@@BLAPGames wow alot of frostprime overlap today sidenote CLAW CLAW CLAW CLAW

He had just discarded the ten of diamonds and wouldn't have been able to get it anyway.
I've seen more glass break for chilled than i have for anyone else 😭

"If you want my seed" - ChilledChaos 2024
In the same stream where he said "I'm hard."
lol I had to laugh at that even without Larry around. :)
@Mrpear234 idk why but I read that as "Larry aroused" and it didn't change the sentence at all lmao
1:01:09 I thought it'd be a little larger
He had some of the worst glass card luck, but still a great "first" run
Untrue. The glass luck multiplies each time the card retriggers, which made all the red stamped ones a 50% chance to fail
oh man that "1 in 4" 50% break chance on glass.
Lol with all ones it is "1 in 8" also 50% 😅 break chance on glass. Me: it is rigged I tell you. It should be 12.5% even if doubled is only 25%.

ChilledChaos Balatro? sign me up dude lets go
this is one of the best balatro videos I've ever seen (I've seen a lot lmao)
haven’t watched chilled since the original toribash and town of salem days, its refreshing man
The Ace build is so insane, good fucking lord. 15 MILLION in one hand is insane.

Chat telling chilled to make a super glass card because it triggers twice. Lol
Nice to see Chilled tackle this game. It's so much fun.

Wow, it feels criminal to be this early... I don't think I've ever hit an upload from anyone in the first 20 seconds.
7:58 I felt that😂
it should be a crime how Chilled says Yubel🤣
oh buddy you GOTTA increase your game speed in the settings my guy

Oh, I'm so used to seeing it at 4x speed that the normal slow ticks threw me off.
Has Anthony ever played slay the spire on stream before? If not he should defiantly check that game out
omg so early
you are so good at that babe
The description says Venus but with that card font... it just says Penus.
LETS GO BALATRO!!!
Holy cow did Chilled win his first game? It took me 7 hours to win my first game
came back after some time, since when does Chilled looks like Waluigi?
damn chilled you've lost a lot of weight haven't watched in at least 2-3 years. loving the mustache!
When I came back around 3 or4 years ago he was gaining weight and learning to workout eat healthy foods. :)
Nice first run
well at least there isnt as much reading as yugioh
Chilled: ??? This is a fun game. Confused chilled noises.
Meanwhile no royal flush only counted as a high value flush straight
More pleaseeeee:)
Do that again!
Hey chilled if you ever see this the highest score ever reach is 3.049e98
That is 3,039 and 95 zero after.
It's his left hand
this was entertaining to watch, but I dont think i could buy it, i would get burned out quickly

Never expected see chilled promoting gambling
I started playing on controller since my wrist started to hurt. Ngl it's so much better in controller
Really? I feel like this game would be way more smoother on pc, never got it for myself though
😮
Why was chat constantly tell Chilled to make the dumbest plays possible the whole game?
What dumb plays are you talking about? Encouraging chilled to do a bunch of glass cards was the right move, what other things were you talking about?
What on earth is this game
Balatro, it's right in the title
@McBehrer thank you, it was rhetorical. I wasn't asking the specific name of the game.
A very good and addicting roguelike
Balatro
I liked watching this game but i feel like i would not enjoy playing it
Woah, that fist joker is the red salute! Basically the communist equivalent of the N.a.z.i salute.
I hate your chat convincing you to do more glass cards

Tbf glass cards is the best way to get big numbers, especially with red seal. with double DNA glass red seal is probably the best thing for him to duplicate
Did you not see at the end of the video, glass cards were worth 10x more than the regular aces
big number go brrr
