There are some great suggestions in this video. Exterior shutters really do add to the curb appeal of many homes. If you opt to build shutters, as suggested in the video, consider pricing new shutters also. You may be surprised that new shutters can be affordable, which will also save you time in the long run.
Ron Howie Oh no, 😥 I can't believe that you would say something so mean. You seriously hurt my feelings. I'll probably cry myself to sleep tonight thinking about this.....😥😥Ugly and stupid? What if everyone thinks I'm ugly and stupid? 😭😭😭.... NOT! 😂😂😂 And by the way, it's "you are" or "you're" not your. 😂😂😂
My husband hates when i watch videos like this. Makes him more work around the house! I love the stone on the front of the steps..... now where did he get to...
J. Smith 😂 mine too. Got him work the front garden bed. The rocks flower bed previous owner kept stacking more instead of digging them up. So got alot of stone go around our trees and shrubs lol.
1. Clean up stuff laying around 2. Put a screen around your trash bins 3. Window shutters 4. Trim around the front door and windows 5. Use stone veneer on columns, stairs, and foundation 6. Window boxes 7.Garage door: paint a pattern, add hardware or fake windows
"Add trim to a window".....If that trim isn't watertight and sealed properly, water will get behind it and cause HUGE problems. That upper trim did NOT look right.
Ooof. No thanks. Shutters! ...That don't shut. Invite bugs into your windows with window boxes! Faux windows for the garage! I think I'll just go for some fresh mulch and a new mailbox. If I'm really feeling adventurous I'll touch up the address or pin up some big bold numbers on the door.
N Hebrews 13:5, 8 (KJV) Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
People in California hide those ugly things all the time. So long as you use the open work lattice.. leave enough room between the lattice and the unit.. and leave the top part open.. the unit should have plenty of air circulation around it.
LOLOL. A lot of great ideas, but no way you're doing these projects at the prices they are displaying. First of all, it's assuming you have the tools and skills to do these projects. That cost alone easily doubles or even triples the cost. Next, many of these projects require the approval of the HOA if you live in a coveted community. Slapping up shutters and refacing your front stairs without prior approval could turn into a very expensive endeavor. This reminds me of those home improvement show on DIY network where they quote these obscenely low estimated improvement costs which never include the labor and/ or consultation fees from the renown interior decorator.
aeromedical67 yeah. Lucky mine isn't HOA however still need building permits for fences or other buildings. So true need be careful if have HOA most should be happy if trying make home nice outside means that area boost up sale value of a home.
Any male at least should be able to paint his own house w out hiring help if he wants to save a lot of money. Every male should know the basic carpentry skills by his mid 20s. Unless you have a huge house or mansion, you should be working on your own crib 💪🏽
Excuse my comment, but this is typical American. Make it look like something it's not. I like the updates, just use better quality from the start and it will last much longer...
They're not tacky ideas, but they are designed for a specific type of "Cape Code" or cottagey style house. Flower boxes and colonial or rustic style shutters look ridiculous, for instance, on a mid-century modern house. The fake carriage windows ARE nasty - they're obviously fake. Just paint the garage door out if you don't want to pay for a new one that has REAL windows in it, keeping in mind that a lot of people don't like windows in garages at all because they may invite thieves.
Did you have to cut away any siding when adding the crown molding to the windows? Or did you just attach on top of the siding?
Great tips for when you have a tight budget. We also suggest changing out your house numbers!
That's Byers Good tip ☺
That's what I need to do mine are way too small for my two story

We took our shutters down and trashed them. They made the house look like the 60's or 70's.
But, I definitely like the other ideas.
Can we get more tips like these and links to the related products? Thanks again.
Thank you for the great tips. I especially love the idea of adding the stones!

This was awesome!!!! Thanks Lowe’s!
Thanks Lowe's for your brilliant ideas
Can I apply the stone veener on the low sides of the house?
You’d be better off installing veneer panels than gluing stone by stone.
Very attractive ideas, thanks!
Can we look at how to improve the exterior of a wood-stucco home.
That's what I need!

These kinds of videos are a godsend for xylophone and hand-clappers everywhere.

Wow. Great tips! Thanks!

Looks lovely although I don't like those stuck on stones - stone veneer.
Aren't flower box windows bad for the foundation?
great job
What if you have any windows and concrete front yard
Thanks for posting! Love these ideas!
Awesome work. Thank you.

1976 called, it wants its hideous stone veneer back. It says it's prepared to offer you an avocado bath suite in exchange.
alifloydtv 🤣
Yeah shutters won’t work the window on my front is 12 foot long
The picture afterwards looks old-fashioned!!!
It’s not ‘old fashioned’, it’s ‘traditional style’ to go with the overall look of the house.
reseal the driveway!

As an HVAC/R technician a would not advise enclosing your air conditioning condensing unit. That's a piece of really bad advice.
I think I heard or read somewhere, that you need at least 3' around the a/c unit?
People in California hide those ugly things all the time. So long as you use the open work lattice.. leave enough room between the lattice and the unit.. and leave the top part open.. the unit should have plenty of air circulation around it.
Andrew Thomas,,, Well technician, the thing is that they really really look so UGLY that you have to cover them 😂🤣

@Billy Ray Valentine Agreed. Esp if you marry a man who is too lazy or can't handle this kind of work. Teach your daughters well.
@Billy Ray Valentine Bet that felt almost as good as that strip mall "massage" you had earlier today.
why would a renter care about curb appeal?
I personally prefered it before, simple and not over fussy :-)
Plain and with no curb appeal, but if that’s your style…. to each their own.
Oh my god my house looks so poor compared to this
Many of these looked worse.
Julie Anderson like?
I really liked the shutter look. Way better than the average flats.
*PLEASE...Height is pronounced like light because both end in 'ht' NOT 'th' like width.*
Drill fake windows in your garage door? Seriously?
You can paint fake windows on the garage. It looks way better with no idiotic drilling involved.
Ugh, I hate how shutters & gridded windows look. I like streamlined, contemporary exteriors
me too
To each their own, you know…
I hate fake shutters that look is cheap, you don't see fake shutters in Europe
Fake shutters and fake garage windows earned a thumbs down from me.
Excuse my comment, but this is typical American. Make it look like something it's not. I like the updates, just use better quality from the start and it will last much longer...
You are excused, but it's improving the looks, not making it look phony.
Do you realize this is about improving an existing house and not building it from scratch?
