U brakes and side pulls are the easiest to install imo. I never really knew anyone who could actually install or dial in gyro brakes other than myself. I always screw up those v brakes every single pair i ever worked on 😂lol. Brake pads are all color coded . Clear is for painted, anodized, and chrome. Salmon is for all weather conditions. Blue and Black is your basic pads. Gray is for e bikes and scooters. Any cable will do but always use the right type calipers with a matching style pads and levers otherwise you get a spongy feel or cable snaps eventually from moving too much cable.

This video is just about perfect for ke right now.... one of the bikes I am considering is the Fit Spriet...but it doesnt have a rear brake.... I'm guessing besides the mounts in the back for the brake arms, there must be a threaded hole in the bottom of the top tube for the end of the straight cable, where you showed the little bracket and barrel adjuster....
My son and I like the looks of this bike, and it is Chromoly frame, forks, and bars....the only thing it didn't check is the double wall rims, amd no brakes...but, when he starts doing tricks we can get a good set of rims to have on hand for when one tacos or he starts goimg big enough to worry about that...for the most part it seems like it would be a good option he could grow into...
    Keep shining bro...

Clear pads are great! But if you have Chrome rims, do not ever run clear pads!! I'm sure Brant mentions this in one of his brake videos, just reiterating for those that may not know.

BMX Ubrakes work much better without the straddle cable part. Just run a new longer cable straight to the brake using a Vbrake noodle. Stick that into the claw side of your Ubrake and run the cable to the bolt. The reason for getting rid of the straddle gubbins is simple. Way better simplified geometry for a more efficient pull.
Since I made this adjustment I have my wheel locking with a one finger pull. Oh yeah and clear pads!

@@Brant_Moore I ran mine on the left for a while, that's how the racers do it and a lot of bike shops set up their bikes that way. I didn't know it was a thing until a read that Steve Hamilton always puts his on the right. That's the only reason I put mine on the right to be honest, but it's a good one Hamilton rips. I do the one finger thing because of Doyle, and he did it because of some rider be looked up when he was a kid.

brant, i purchased the haro baseline which uses a very stiff metal arm/spring in lieu of a straddle cable. However the angle of it won’t connect to the brake cable unless I bend those “straddle cable” arms. Is that correct, or do they simply not fit my bike? S&M Tall Boy 21.5 gt.

I just swapped out my stock brakes on my cult for some oddessy Cleveland brakes. Them seem ok, but I'm using these koolstop 2 brake pads. And only the tail end of the pad hits the rim. Is it possible to bend the pad (on purpose), so it hits more flat on the rim? I can't find any info on this. Or even what to search for.

    • @v4riab1lity77

It should be the NOSE end of the brake that touches first and with added brake pressure the rest of the pad will seat against the rim.
