Anthoine Hubert (22 September 1996 - 31 August 2019) was a French professional racing driver. He was the 2018 GP3 Series champion and a member of the Renault Sport Academy. He died at the age of 22, following an accident during the feature race of the 2019 Spa-Francorchamps Formula 2 round at the.
Ahead of him rival Giuliano Alesi crashed due to a puncture as he climbed the notoriously fast Radillon curve. Drivers immediately behind him braked, but an unsighted Hubert clipped one of the slowing cars which sent him into the barriers at an acute angle.
That impact put Hubert’s car on its side and sent him into the path of Juan Manuel Correa who struck the Frenchman’s vehicle in the area around the cockpit at around 160mph.
That collision tore Hubert’s care in two and ripped off the front of Correa’s - which was also launched into the air before landing upside down. Frenchman Hubert was sent into the barriers for a second time before he eventually came to rest.
Doctors and marshals reached the drivers within seconds with Hubert and Correa both taken to the circuit’s medical centre where Hubert was officially declared dead at 18:35.

RIP Antoine. He didn't deserve to die that day, but that incident still reminds us of how dangerous the sport still is. Rest in Peace

Was waiting for this.Formula 1/2/3 is very safe these days but series of unfortunate factors can make a crash deadly. Sport lost future star that day

IIRC, The car is designed to withstand those side impacts. Sadly, what killed Hubert seems to be the impact with the barriers. An already damaged car could no longer sustain any side impacts.
Actually he was still awake while the impact with the tire barrier Correa didn't hit the back of the game he hitted the main part of the car that Hubert was in so no impact was reduced while the hit he was already unconscious and he had a 1 hour battle with his unsurvivable injuries

honestly I feel like this video is very disrespectful to the point of re-enacting the crash. the maker of this mod also said that he found it disrespectful.

Can you please do Tony Renna's testing accident at Indy back in 2003? I can imagine, it will be quite hard to simulate, considering that there is no footage of the crash.
I already tried. but I didn't succeed. Maybe I'll try again in the future.
@@CRASHSimulation From what the IMS people told me, you'd be hard-pressed to do it justice. And there is still some discussion about how the car lost control prior to impact.
Im so surprised that there was a fatal crash in the formula series, these cars made it seem like nothing would ever happen fatally again after Jules, but then you never think of the factors of a different kind of crash.. rest in Peice Jules..
Getting a POV of the drivers involved in the crash would have been the cherry on top for this video 👌🏻
DAMN IT'S BEEN OVER 3 YEARS SINCE THAT CRASH HAPPENED IN FORMULA 1 BEFORE QUALIFYING ALL 2019 F1 DRIVERS WHERE AT THE TRACK IN THE FUNERAL OF ANTOINE HUBERT THEN ON RACE DAY CHARLES LECLERC WON HIS 1ST GRAND PRIX IN BELGIUM AND A PART OF IT HE SAID THIS "THIS ONE IS FOR ANTOINE"
Sad because he was just a kid; I watched the actual crash video and dang that thud when second car hit him was sickening.
Props to all involved making this video. Not sure if it’s done before, and if not it might be difficult because it’s something like ten cars but good project would be Dan Wheldon fatal accident in 2011 at Las Vegas speedway.

The 0.26 update has broken a lot of custom instrument clusters because of new code for working odometers.
This fatal crash was not the only one, in 1995, the case of a brazilian who shocked the country, thats right, it's Marco Campos, who died in the last round of the International F3000 category in Magny-Cours at the last lap when he was trying to pass the italian driver Thomas Biagi, then his car gone airbone and the head of campos hit the concrete wall getting basilar skull fracture and cerebral trauma, he was taken to the Lariboisière Hospital in Paris, France, where he died in the early morning of October 17th 1995 at the young age of 19, it was the only fatal crash of the Internacional F3000 category, and the Best result of Marco campos was a 4th place in Enna, Pergusa

1. Not a popular opinion but the number #19 shouldn't have retired, because it wasn't a chosen number (like Jules #17) and now the #18 also didn't featured, so it's a bit strange. For that year it was ok to use number 22.
2. How did you destroyed the car so much? For me (when I played BeamNG) it was much harder to rip apart
3. For me this was the moment when I realised why we need the halo. Because I did not think anybody in a car with it can injure, sadly I was proved wrong.

The FIA should've changed the specs for F2 cars after this, but I don't know that they have. That crash should've been survivable, and no one's feet / body should ever be exposed after an impact. Granted, this adds weight, but it is already done by another Dallara spec chassis (IndyCar).

The issue was that the car hit the barriers before getting hit by the other car, which damaged the crash structure. Were it not for that minor initial impact, he would have survived
@@nothanks8368 Such accidents have happened all the time in that other series where everyone runs a Dallara chassis and the same motor and same tires. FIA just didn't spec this thing to withstand the impacts.
