I have one of these as well.
Not the greatest little shortwave radio, but better than some others I have played with.
I like the audio quality for the size and use the Bluetooth mode quite a bit.
Thank you for the great in-depth review. I've been deciding on different models but I think this one packs the most features with the solar panel and hand crank. I think everyone should think about purchasing this item as the weather only worsens. Thanks again
Very nice product. BTW, there is a great arduino project based around Si4735 multiband radio chip. If anyone is looking for a great DIY radio I haven't seen a better project yet.
I have this radio and shortwave does work, you will get stations but you have to move the tuner very slowly and you may even need to move the position of the radio. I was able to get chicago on this with patience and small movements of the tuner. It's a generalist radio not a dedicated shortwave or dx'ing radio so i never expected perfection. It only brings in strong broadcaster type shortwave stations, you wont be able to hear ham ssb communications on this. I dont know if maybe a shortwave reel antenna was clipped to the telescoping antenna if the shortwave might come in better? As a survival radio to be used in the middle of a blizzard in the northeast, or being in a cellar in the middle of a twister in the plains, or being in the gulf states in the middle of a tropical storm it does its job fine. You can tune am, fm, and weather strongly and clearly, it has a light, and it also has a siren if you need rescuers to hear you. It is also compact and takes up little space--it fits in your hand compared to other survival radios. You can power it through solar, hand crank, or by connecting the usb-c to usb-a charge cable. I only wish it had a space for coppertop batteries and a fine tuner. For serious shortwave listening, ssb ham communications, or dx'ing please get a specialized shortwave radio.
Is the shortwave AM only?
Yeah, no SSB or any other modulation.
Love it
It lacks a FMRS [??] feature for 2-way coms.
it is a radio, not a transceiver.
@@IMSAIGuy Midland has one with FRMS band... ~$120.
Is it a 'CW...' or a 'ZW...' - radio?
It's so hard to understand the difference of a 'ZED' and a 'CEE' in American English!
Why , and yes, why do all the US-american citicens don't pronounce 'ZED' and 'CEE', the right way?
Take a look at the brave English man, who is coming around the corner, ... and I have no problem to understand him well, ... !

Hope you understand my little joke, ... I could not resist!

This is an easy fix but I feel a survival radio really needs to be an easy to see color, possibly with some retro-reflection. Making it camo colored makes no sense.
For another $1, they could have added a BFO on shortwave.

You should see if it's rugged by throwing it at a brick wall as hard as you can...
You did all the work for me , trying to find the best cheap lab scope for young tech
I have Sony's version. Fully analog tech. A little bit smaller. More round corners.
Could you tell me the model number of the Sony version please?
