I love how you told us to do it all again. Seriously though, you’re right. It will 100% look better the second time. I wish you would have affiliate links with the products you recommend so we can support what you’re doing.
This is on our list by if things to do. Affiliate links and other ways to support. For now please share the channel with the Transit community. I’m not a big forum guy so we have an audience that doesn’t know we exist.
Really appreciate you helping others to help the themselves. Altruism is getting rare these days. When possible, can you include supporting information to the process or item you are demonstrating. Example: purpose of foam blob, places not to cut and why, other options than tweed, paint?, other ways to repurpose the item, etc. Very nice to see more tutorials on Transits.
This is a great idea. These videos are new to us, so these types of comments help a lot. I’ll try to think about how to add these details into our upcoming videos.
I agree that it is great to see the tutorials. Honestly speaking, he has reinforced the need for a professional buildout. I’m sure I could do it (eventually) but I’d rather leave it to his team and his expert leadership. Interesting video nonetheless. 🏆🏆🏆
Couldn’t find the 3M 74 at local supply places. Tried 3M 77. Did not stay stuck in Florida heat. Tried ordering the 74 and could only get the 74ca (California approved - meaning won’t stick). Any suggestions?
They can be, but I only recommend them wrapped in place on a Transit. Sprinter blobs secure differently and can be wrapped before or out of the van. We wrap these in place and secure the ceiling (that is trimmed to fit around them) after they are wrapped.
The answer is sort of. The airbag is really in front of the foam blob. The blobs cover the area and conceal the mechanism. If you search for crashed transit pictures you will see often times the bottom 3” snaps off even with a fabric wrap.
Is there anyway you could provide information on the spacing of the roof rib (?) locations on the ford transit 148 wheel base high roof? I can not find info anywhere and I would love to have it as I plan my build for options on where I can or can not place roof fans and windows. Thanks!
Hey Louis, I double checked the color and we used Woolen in the video. It looks like the fabric sample image on our website is incorrect, but if you want to order the matching fabric like we used, the WOOLEN is the correct color.
Yes. They are really hard to get back up nicely after being wrapped out of the van. It can be done, but the seams look really bad in my opinion. Big gaps and stuff. Much cleaner wrapped in place. You can remove them to trim them. I’ve just done so many trimming and wrapping in place is easier.
It would be wise to do what AVC says. I removed my blobs, applied all my panels and then tried to wrap the blobs and reattach them. It sucked. Wish I would have seen these videos prior to my build. With that said I would like to thank AVC. I may have been one of the first to purchase their panel kit. My build is looking great! Couldn’t be happier. Thanks for giving the Transit some loven!
@@darinanderson4859 My thoughts too; remove blob and reapply. I still think, until I do/see otherwise, it to be easier as long as it is securely reattached with an appropriate adhesive, and in this case would not be 3M-74. My thought goes to a spray foam insulation. So, what was it you used that satisfied the re-installation of a removed blob after all? Thanks ahead for the reply.-Doug
Why don't you simply remove the front blobs? What is the function of those blobs? Haven't I seen you removing them when you install a full shelf on top of the front seats?
They are difficult to re attach after being wrapped. In the Sprinter they are easy to wrap and reinstall. In the Transit I think they are best wrapped in place.

@@AVCRIG totally understand! One step at a time. I’ll try to share your videos on the forum when I see your video answers a question that was asked.
@@landrover827 that would be awesome! Thank you.

Your information is priceless! I should have my transit by June or July. Keep the tips and trick coming. Mahalo
Thanks!
Does alterations to the foam effect any type of warranty do you know?
Nice job, Matt! You are a true professional! Looks amazing!
Really excellent tutorial. Slashing through fabric with that utility knife makes me nervous. I like scissors for upholstery.
He makes it look so easy..
Lots of practice….lots.
Looks great
Great video! 🤘🏻
Thanks!
Great thanks
Does wrapping the blob to the van body have any impact on the airbag function?

very impressive! great content!
Thank you!
Great info thanks. Can those be taken off and put back on for installing ceiling ?

Thank a lot for the information, keep up the quality creative work.
@@PaulCarterArt thanks Paul! Will do.
The adhesive remover shown at 8:35 is not sold in Calif. Do you have an alt adhesive remover you can recommend? Thanks
I’ll ask my rep! Great question.
@@AVCRIG Me too. Thanks, and GREAT, brief, informative stuff you're putting out. Think you're driving the FORD market for this stuff.
Thanks for your amazing videos! How many yards of fabric do you figure is needed to do a Transit High Roof Extended (walls, pillars, blobs and doors)?
I’d say about 35 yards. Should be enough to completely wrap everything and the ceiling. If you do a wood look ceiling 28.
What is the name of the fabric and what grade level as well as were can I buy fabric
Quick question - isn’t there a side airbag underneath the foam blob?
The answer is sort of. The airbag is really in front of the foam blob. The blobs cover the area and conceal the mechanism. If you search for crashed transit pictures you will see often times the bottom 3” snaps off even with a fabric wrap.

This is a good suggestion. We have a new van coming in and we can use that for some roof layout info.
Still trying to find some decent priced auto carpet/fabric. Please share where to find yours.
We sell it on our website. Both complete interior kits and by the yard
Which style of byrne is this you are using - silver-grey?
Yep!
Yep!
Im interested in buying the fabric from you. I’d like to know which color you used in this video. Thanks
We sell the fabric - Byrne, Woolen (and more) on our online store: avcrig.com/collections/all-products/products/byrne-upholster-fabric
