Part of the problem is that people don't believe the virus is dangerous enough to warrant all the "discomforts." They believe the death toll is over reported, that if you're under 50 your chance of any serious illness is near 0, and thus if you're in the population that is at higher risk, you should stay home and let everyone else do whatever they want. I think that's selfish and impractical, but that is their "logic."
Hi folk. It is cloudy. 12 degree Celsius. Pretty cold here in Sao Paulo. 99.9 % possibility to catch covid-19. Thank you so much Professor Racaniello and the guest. I like you even you are a bit grumpy.
I read the article Flu virus with 'pandemic potential' found in China www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53218704 thank you for discussing it - sends a little lightning bolt thanks again.
The ineffable cannot be defined. Swift's view of 'progress' or humans wasn't very optimistic. But he did some 'humanitarian things' and his Gulliver's Travels is a great work.
The NHS guy from Wales was asking about the serology test that is part of the SIREN study in the UK. He shouldn’t worry about it. I think the NHS are using two tests for antibodies to the N protein developed by Roche and Abbott. Public Health England test evaluation was for those two tests. The Chadox1 uses Spike only in the Chimp Virus. Your body can’t produce a response to an antigen it doesn’t see. So in my view he should proceed with the serology test. He should make sure though with his bosses and also inform those conducting the trial.
You want to see what these crazy people think? Watch these: th-cam.com/video/DaFSH0K4BdQ/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/41KluMgqE9A/w-d-xo.html Yikes!
The tone of Virology Today drives me crazy. Four loveable "professors" chat congenially. Where is your urgency to defeat Covid 19? Passionless. Where is your love of country as it burns in viral wildfire?
Seriously? they are not responsible for this. They are responsible for educating us and they are doing a FINE job of that. unless of course you are a moron and are not learning from it
TX may be bad, but I live in Florida, number 1 in the US in new cases. A lot of it is at the feet of (R) Governor who is a Trump bootlicker. Other states have sane republican governors, like Maryland, Mass, and OH. Anyhow,...
ROBERT UCHMAN I was just thinking the same thing. This podcast is painfully inefficient. I don't know if it's because of the long pauses mid-sentence, smug political repartee, lack of focus, etc. if I wasn't familiar with this Channel, I would assume the podcast was a spoof.
Thank you all for sharing the science.
The more i listen to virologists the more i think we need to stop eating meat or maybe vaccinate the animals....
Thank you, from a mask-wearing Republican, for taking politics out of this. I am baffled by the partisanship.
When I first watched Vincent, I didn't like him. Now I adore him!

Why do people take 2 hours to get to a point when in this time of need we need experience of information
We also need patience
Step by step we learn more
You may want to experiment with adjusting the speed of the playback. Sometimes I listen on 1.25x speed, sometimes on 1.5.

It's awesome hearing experts having a casual discussion about relevant topics. No need to hurry.
