- This 70’s inspired Granny Square Vest is a GREAT scrap/left over yarn project! I didn’t buy any new yarn for this vest, just used the left overs I had from previous projects (“Grateful + Thankful Cardi” and the “Fall Picnic” Tote Bag. Both tutorials can be found on my TH-cam channel!)
Written pattern with sizes XS-5XL:

These are so much fun, I made dozens back in the late 70s. Think I will make some more, thanks for bringing back an oldie but goodie.
Aww, how fun! You are very welcome!💕
Do you have a pattern to share from the 70s? 😊
@@ddandthegirls there are a few on etsy - i think ones called the rib tickler
I feel like these types of vests would be awesome with big hearts
Absolutely love the size inclusively in your patterns as beginner im always afraid to adjust patterns to my size so thank you
🥰
Just spent about 7 hours total making one for myself, I went for an all dark green vest cause I had sooo much to use up. I often struggle with making crochet tops fit around my bust and not be all floppy at the waist, but it wasn't that much of an issue since I could adjust not just the main front/back panels but also the little side panels that connected around the waist. It was so fun to make and I look forward to making more of these in the future, both for myself and for the lil guy we're fostering.
Just finished making the front and back, now to weave ends and sew them together! I made them in Valentine's Day colors and then I am going to make matching scrunchies to wear with the vest on Valentine's Day!!! Thank you so much for this pattern.
i looooved your video you are so good at this i hope u continue shinning❤❤❤❤
TYSM ive been crocheting Amigurumi for 2 years, and this was my first clothing piece!
9:30 straps! ♡ (bookmark for myself)
I made one and I’ll be making another (2 teen aged granddaughters). Thank you. Came out beautiful 😊
I just finished mine. It is perfect to the 1970's NYE party I'm attending. I followed approximately 2X and it fits great. I adjusted along the way.
Thank you for the tutorial! I have finished one and it took me only 2 evenings! I love the design.❤️
Super cute! I adjusted mine slightly to use thicker velvet yarn!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Recently found this video, whipping up the vests like mad!!! Super easy!!!
This is so easy! Thank you! I had soo much left over yarn from old projects and mine looks like rainbow vomit, I mean pretty rainbow vomit hehe. Good way to put those to use.✨🦋
Just finished one and I love it!
I added extra rows for the shoulder straps to make them longer.
i think i’ll want to do the same!! how many extra rows did you add??(-:
My main square count was 14 and then did 16 rows total for the shoulder straps. Was still cropped but just sat a little lower then my collar bones 😊
I can’t quite make the straps work for me but I think I’m getting there. Thanks a million for the tutorial! I’ll be wearing these all winter
Just finished sewing in my ends! In LOVE!!!! Such an easy pattern and love the video support!!

I love this. I would like to continue this pattern so that it would develop into a dress. Any ideas how to continue this pattern into a dress. Thank you
This looks good cause it's 2 granny squares jot 17 😅❤
Hey, i loved your tutorial video it's so detailed and nice thankyou so much....love you work
Hello :) I am almost finished the front panel and realized I totally ignored the hook size you used and I have been using a 3.5mm (silly me)! So now it’s super tight knit and seems more like a Jersey/jumper. If I wanted to make long sleeves would I still do the straps/sides like you did, or would I just work the sleeves off the 2 squares? Thank you!!
i just came across ur channel and ohmygod i love ur content!! everything u make is gorg
Thank you so much 🥺💖
So pretty, i love your job. Thaks you so much. ❤❤🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you! ❤️
I was looking for the brown colour granny square sweater with the sleeves it was in one of your shorts video clip😊my sleeves look like it can jump up and hit me 🤔😁😲🤣🥴😠🤦🏾🤷🏾but then it's like look back at me and says I forgive you your first time crocheter🧶🧶(especially when it comes to doing clothes, but blankets and scarves I'm okay)😂😂😂😂😂
I love this pattern and can't wait to try it! Do you know roughly how much yarn you ended up using for the entire pattern? (I normally buy yarn in 100g balls so was wondering how many I might need for a size S :)) x
I have the grams I used for my size small in my blog post linked in the description!
Have you seen this on J. Crew right now? I've been looking for one to make after seeing it on J. Crew!!!
Hi. Just wondered if it would be ok to make this in DK? Instead of Arran. Thanks. X
Thanks 😊 so much
maybe a silly question, when sewing the panels together do we just sew together the strap pieces and back pieces? not the entire piece?
I would like to know that how many grams of yarn were needed for each color.
I was hoping for an edging around the neckline. I’m not sure how to edge the corners of the neck 🤷🏼♀️
How do I determine which size to make? Are there any guidelines based on busy size?
How do you sew the pieces together?
Love ur videos like I adore them can you please tell me the exact amount of yarn u used for love yaa
I want to make it today but I'm not feeling well to go outside to buy a 5mm hook.😢 Will a four or six work ? ,😭😭😭🥺
My granny square for an XS came out to be 11 inches. But if I add another round it would be between 12-13 inches what would I do
Ill add sleeves so it can be a sweater
Wait is this cropped?
Can I use acrylic yarn for this?? Or should I stick to cotton?
Is there a sizing chart for this? I didn’t see one on the website.
Please can you tell me the Measurements of the first 12 row
just wondering, is this in American or Australian/ British sizes?
Is there anyway to add sleeves to this??
Do you have any tips for the panel to not fold up? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but it keeps folding and is hard to work with
Thanks so much for the tutorial btw
Are you making sure you have 3 chains in all the corners?
How much yarn did you use to make one? Thanks
About how many grams or yards of yarn did you use for this?
Newb here...I finished the front and back panels. I am going to work on the straps and sides today. When you say "sew" what exactly do you mean? I have never made an item like this so I am not sure how to attach it together.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for getting me this far!
i am no expert but there are a lot of tutorials om how to connect/sew granny squares etc. hope this helps
if this size in the video doesn’t fit us do we add another row of the white color? i’m a beginner and I don’t know how to read patterns yet
You would add another row or two of any color. In the written pattern it says how big your square should be depending on which size you're making.
How many skeins u used ?
Hello gonna start this today
Just wanted to ask if I can use 4.5mm crochet hook?
Yes you can! But depending on you tension, you project might be smaller, which might result you have to do much rows and use more yarn.
@@hayhaycrochet thankyou for replying so quickly 💜 I love your crochet work!!
Lindíssimo trabalho.👏👏👏👏🧶
How to sewing the front and back part?
I just used a simple front and back sewing technique. You can also just single crochet the pieces together
Help how do I sew them together haha
How to sew it
How to make for size M
My blog is linked in the description with sizes s-5xl!
🥳🏆❣️
Made mine but it didn’t fit me
If you're larger, add more rows around, if you're smaller, make less
Some groovy threads, man. Far out video. Peace.
Alguma brasileira para fazer um vídeo assim ?
