@@DeepSpaceAstro @deepskydetail, Just downloaded B2.1, Does this version support 32bit tifs or just 16 bit as indicated? Many thanks for this and look forward to your future efforts... Thanks for your videos Rich, U.B.D.Man.
@@bonzer2u You can upload 32 bit images (I think...), but right now it will only output 16 bit images. That will probably change in the future. If you can't upload a 32 bit image, let me know.
@@deepskydetail Just wanted to say it takes the 32 bit tifs fine and produced outstanding 16 bit results for me on some historic M101 and NGC7000 data I had laying around. Sincerely appreciated Mark and contributed to your continued efforts this morning. M.J.
I have been piloting the colour version of it. The program has come so far in such a short amount of time. I am looking forward to testing it in the future!
Wow! I had completely forgotten about this tool. I was playing around with reprocessing a wide field Orion photo I took recently and tried it again. Worked like a charm. The data was already pretty sharp but this really made the stars pop.
I'm glad that someone decided to create a tool like this for free. The price of BlurXterminator is totally ridiculous, as well as the fact that it only works with PI. I know a lot of astrophotographers argue that the price of these plugins, and PI, are worth it because you spend so much money on gear anyway, but I'd argue that they should be cheaper because we all spend so much money on gear, and a fellow astrophotographer/dev should understand that.
Fantastic. Thanks for these videos, you've introduced me to some great tools and techniques and all in a way that a beginner like me can understand. Love your work. I'm particularly excited to try this one out.
Thank you for circulating this video and sharing the tool. Looks very useful and will try it as I'm just getting into astrophotography and been frustrated with my postprocessing!. Great video btw.
You're welcome, and thanks! I don't know where you are on the learning path, but I have lots of videos around Siril including a start to finish tutorial, if you haven't come across them yet.
Good demo. Contrary to some comments I say use it whatever and whenever if it makes you happy and makes things easier ! There are no rules in this hobby unless you’re doing science. Bravo rich
I'll have to play around with this a bit more. I tried it out on an image of M31 that I took last year. I had already done a fair bit of processing on the image using SiriL tools. It did sharpen up the dust lanes but it seemed to me it sharpened up the noise in the disk of the galaxy. But to be fair I did use the noise reduction tool in SiriL and the astro sharp tool does say not to try and sharpen the image before using. And the image I used was taken with my old camera and was fairly noisy to begin with. Thanks for the video! Nearly all the tips you have provided have really helped my processing work flow.
Hi Rich. Just downloaded the latest version. They have added a bunch of processing types, more sliders and a bank of boxes for changing numbered values. Will play with it, but if they are not careful they will have to publish a users manual :). It's getting pretty complex. They are putting a lot of work into it.
Hey Rich, I finally decide to download this and its very different from your video here obviously bunch of updating. A little unclear how to run it through the new version..Thanks Danny
I am using it and have me going through must of my photo files. With very few exceptions It has made a nice improvement to most of the pictures. By the way, it would be great if this tool is eventually integrated in Siril as StarNet ++ is. Great video as alway. Thanks!
Can you do a video in the future showing a full processing video using the latest release of Siril with all the new tools? I'm unsure which processes to do in order. I will be using a Player One Ares -C Pro IMX533 when it arrives (thanks to your video on the Player One camera).
Wow this works great. FYI Norton really doesn't like it. I had to restart my computer before each time I used it until I figured out how to go into Norton and mark it as safe. I found you need to do that separately from just saying "go ahead and run" when you first install it.
Rich, you have been using Siril's Deconvolution tool to sharpen your images in the later videos. Does that mean you prefer Deconvolution to Astrosharp? What do you think about Astroclean?
Great Video! I find your tutorials and techniques so easy to adapt. I just have one question and if you can make a video for that if not already. I use a Newtonian telescope and I find it so hard to keep my blue stars blue and yellow stars yellow in SIRIL. How to go about it? Thanks 😊
Shows great promise but I can't get it to work on my PC system unfortunately (which is pretty new and fast). I use high pass filter on photoshop and blend layer 'overlay' to achieve something similar instead.😑
BlurX is not supposed to be used on processed image. BlurX is supposed to be used on linear images because it is deconvolution tool. Any processing will not give optimal result.
Hiya Rich . We all love free Software and this one looks good . When you mentioned wavelets I thought of planetary imaging . Have you tried this on any planets yet ? It will be nice to not have artifacts like Topaz Sharpen AI sometimes introduces . Good stuff !😊
Sorry, you compare Apples with Oranges. This tool might be a great sharpening tool and it is great that it is free, but it is sharpening while BXT is a deconvolution tool. And this is a HUGE difference! So you could compare this one with the Unsharp process of PixInsight or the Topaz Sharpen AI, but mentioning it with BXT in a sentence makes no sense at all....
This example was in an image that was already completed. I'm going to play more with it and try after stretching and PCC, and then maybe after I remove the stars.
Thanks for sharing the tool! Great video :)
You're welcome, and thank you!!

Understood and that's why I said it may not be a fair comparison. But for people looking for a free solution, it works out nicely.
This is cool, but it needs a LOT more training. It sharpens the noise too much and creates many artifacts in the noise. It's still interesting.
Yep, it's still beta and the dev just announced that he'll be working on improving it more.
have you tried the Topaz Labs Sharpen AI? i really like their denoise AI - its very subtle
I have. Last I tried though, it seemed to aggressive for my taste anyway.
