Great stuff, so on a Canon DSLR set camera mic gain to low as possible ( to reduce hiss) and Boyas Gains to +26 on both TX & RX

When you record two mics in stereo, does it seperate each mic to one side of the earphones? Example "Lav A" is in "Left earphones" while "Lav B" is in "Right earphones"?

Thanks for making this video. I'm thinking of getting this set for use with my Zoom H6n on film sets. Question: When you have both lavs active and set the Boya receiver to stereo, will the Zoom H6n also record the two signals as stereo, so that the editor can separate the actors' voices in editing?
You have to use splitter: stereo XLR email - to - 2 mono XLR. Or just use kit minijack stereo cable 9:28

1. Для скромых задач и по цене система вполне сносная. Думаю, что вполне пойдёт для блогеров, видеопроектов, лекций, обзоров и даже для первых фриланс - ТВ проектов с невысокой, НО(!) только там, где есть возможность остановиться, исправить проблему (напр.: заменить радио-микрофон на проводной) и при невысокой интенсивности эксплуатации. При этом бы по возможности заменил петличку на более качественную. Мне нравится Mic J44, у него ЧХ ближе к Sennheiser me2, а чувствительность даже повыше. И цена подходящая.

Каов ресурс новых недорогих систем - покажут годы. Поэтому:
2. Для ежедневной работы, где остановка съёмки стОит дорого или невозможна, ниже Сеннхайзера EW-100 и Sony UWP-D11 я бы не спускался, - рабочие лошадки (но даже и с ними бывают проблемы).

Во всех случаях, где только это возможно лучше писать звук микрофонами на записывающее устройство с балансным входом, т.к.: надёжнее передача сигнала, ниже белый шум, качественнее звук.

I notice that the 3.5mm - XLR cable has a XLR plug that looks like it has something in it. Probably a mic transformer line level unbalanced to mic level balanced. Excellent for mono use, but if that's the case, then it will complicate an attempt to connect a stereo signal to 2 separate XLR mic inputs, since it will need another mic transformer. Simplest would probably be to obtain a 2nd Boya cable. Anyone know if this is correct, or had/had not issues when connecting stereo output to separate XLR mic inputs?

I use alcalaine batteries.
ISSUE?! My receiver acknowledges both transmitters with blue lights? They never turn green and they are all on the same channel? I haven't overcome it once and I haven't seen anything written in the manual about it in trouble shooting. Any help appreciated... Had no success with any sound through my DSLR and yet my Senheisser one mic set up always works..
Sorry Alex, I forgot to say that green LED belongs only to the old (prototype) system. New system has only BLUE LEDs. They turn red when batteries are flat.
I have no idea what is wrong with DSLR connection. You can try to connect system to other unit for the reason to check lead issue. Do not forget to switch off built in power on your recording device.

Thx a lot. Noise floor became times lower. It is 100% acceptable for my projects.

Hi, Mammad. Yes it does send stereo to recorder. There are 2 output leads in the set: one is stereo minijack, another is stereo XLR. Just do not forget to set receiver to stereo mode: 10:12

They said that all original BOYA - WM8 systems are new at the moment. My new WM-8 has only blue LEDs. An old one had green.
Old one was one of the first test prototypes without any package. )))

Are there two variants in the market? I've seen it is offered with slightly different frequencies:
1.) Carrier frequency range: 584 MHz-608 MHz (transmitter A) 576 MHz-599 MHz (transmitter B)
2.) Carrier frequency range: 576.4 MHz - 599.9 MHz (Transmitter A), 568.6 MHz - 592.1 MHz (Transmitter B)
Wich one is in your test? My (maybe defect) Boya has an range at channel a 45m and channel b 10m(!). I give it back and hope the new one will be better. At wich maximum distance work your System without noise?Thank you for your Information.
I just saw in your video that you use a device with the frequencies of point 2. But why do they offer different models? Is one of both an old model?
My very first (OLD) video was about pre-production version. They adjusted something in serial model, and they said : THERE IS NO OLD MODELS ON THE MARKED, BUT ADVANCED VERSION.
hi very nice video and very useful . i just buy wm8 new version and i have two questions .
first ,the receiver after about 10 minutes the battery indicator drops one bar and after one hour drop to one bar and like anyone i change with fresh batteries , you have any idea ?( only with enellop batteries stay at two bars a lot)
second, during recording, i hear some hiss, any idea to solve this?
i only use them twice and they are brand new.

Hi Petros. My receiver did hold 4 hours on unknown brand alcaline batteries more than 4 hours without any problems. (I did not have real active recording longer than this).
1. I`d recommend to try low consumption earphones for monitoring. Some earpfonrs can drain batteries very fast. (I use 32 Ohm earbuds for the level adjustement, then unplug them from system). When I have monitoring jack on camera or recorder, I ALWAYS use one in order to spare BOYA-receivers batteryes.
2. Most of the batteryes will die fast in the frost.
If 1. and 2. did not help, then I´d ask seller to replace the set. Good to support your request with video-test, for merchants not always good with terminology, but they have to inform manufacture about the issue.
whats the best config for the level ? 26 for all ?
can i have 2 separate audio mono track with a voice on each from this or do they get mixed into a single stereo track together?
There are 2 output leads: stereo XLR and stereo minijack. So, You can record "stereo" (left track from one transmitter and right track from another).
If You like to record 2 signals separately, and if your recorder/camera has 2 sockets, then You have to find splitter: ctereo to two mono.

No, Dave, You can not. One transmitter sends one mono signal.
No you'll need both transmitters, One for Left channel en the other for Right channel
But please be aware for To High Input on Line input of the transmitter.
I've experienced distortion like if I was sending a line level signal into a mic level input. (Which was not the case)
I used a behringer XR18 for rerouting the signal back to the performer and use 2 busses to send the same signal wireless to my camera.
My experience was that I needed to set the master volume on the XR18 bus at -20dB to avoid distortion in the receiver.
Changing the volume settings on the transmitter didn't help, as the distorion started at the line input itself.
I haven't tried a DI-box solution yet to attenuate the XR18 output by -20dB prior to directing this reduced signal into the transmitters.
By doing this my intention is to keep the whitenoise levels as low as possible, as the attenuator on the DI-box is designed to cope with such as situation.

I do not have iPhone to try. But it seems it is possible.
BOYA and Sennhiser systems might have similar outgoing signal levels.

I have the WM-6 and always thought it was the same thing as WM-8 but single. However, I've had some problems with clipping, and you write that WM8 has the clipping effect fixed - that's why I asked.
Right, Mateusz. Clipping on my new WM-8 is way better.
But I do not know if they changed somthing abot clipping on WM-6.

Anyways: new receiver I tested has blue LEDs, the first prototype I tested had green ones. May be it is the rule. New system I tested has slightly different frequency range come to old one.... Again, may be they manufacture different freq. systems for different areas.

1. Almost every product in the market is new version, because our old version is just about 50pcs, we didn't sell them, they are just for test.
2. Compared with old version, new version has a big improvement. It has four mold: STEREO, MONO, MONO-A, MONO-B.
My place has a noisy environment and also the air conditioner is very loud, will this lav be a good option ?
All lavalier mics are very sensitive to environment sound. Handheld DYNAMIC microphone is the solution:

It will be even better if You can use headset mics, well not always

How long is the run time on a set of batteries
I did run it slightly under 6 hours on alkaline batteries.
Then I changed batteries for the reason to keep signal safe.

I just bought this system off eBay, too much hiss to use for a studio interview.
Hi Joseph. Bad to hear. Long ago I bought BOYA-1000, a shotgun mic from eBay and it was bad! (There were sparks and ghosts, sort of broken capacitors effect).
Later on I got another mic looking like a twin brother and it was OK. I did open both and realized that first one was FAKE! Components were different, with very low quality soldering. I tried to contact seller but he disappeared from eBay.
Second mic is in use for about 2 years and it runs good. Looks like someone made copy.
My WM8 is not bad at all. I did compare WM8+ZOOMH6 to Coss 111+Makie mixer+Samuraj Blade. The noise floor was almost equal.

And also I got a question about dual recording:
I also want to buy zoom H4n or H5. I want to use xlr cable to send audio from receiver to Zoom. But zoom will wright 1 track from 1 xlr input, so as I understand there will be no possibility to adjust 2 microphones separately? Or there is another possibility to do it?
And also about transmitter:
You mention in the video about Boya wm5 that the input in transmitter is 4pin mini jack, as using in iPhones and etc.
Is it the same for wm8?

1. I have no idea why allegro.pl offers lower prices.
About my new system: all units are provided with
BLUE LED light, receiver screen is also blue.
An old system had green LEDs and all screens are YELLOW.
Good to ask seller about this details.
2. Stereo signal can be taken with minijack to minijack cable.
