I always classified AVG as malware in my book. AVG is (or used to be a few years ago) a *huge* bitch to uninstall, sometimes reaching rogue levels of user oppression. It's right up there with Norton as far as how much it restricts the user.
***** Avast is rogue-like too. It gives you a big red warning to tell you that your trial is gonna run out and has some of the same characteristics as a rogue.
@@fxckrio Time flies. I remember watching this video years earlier and when this channel was active. Normally I wouldn't reply to old comments, but since Tim already did so, I see no harm in replying to this one.

Just noticed AVG's icon is the EXACT same as the Windows 7 Logo, they just rotated the colors... and changed the sides of the icon, other then that its the Win7 Logo... now with Windows 8.1's Blue logo, its not... but the Microsoft logo uses the same colors...
Kyroheart Well then whats your point? Im saying it looks like they copied the Microsoft/Windows Logo, since MS was a thing far before AVG, meaning AVG made their icon after MS.
I love this removal trojan. It removes a rogue and some backdoors. Normally I don't like rogues or viruses, but I might have to install this in a virtual machine or sandbox just to mess with the "tech support".
idk man, my computer came with a rogue antivirus that popped up one day telling me my new tab page was hijacked and that i need to pay them to remove it. this is a computer from hp by the way
whenever i rewatch rogueamps videos i never actually realise how old they are until i'm whiplashed by something like that 2011 microsoft website and the old malwarebytes😭
You got to admit, for a rouge, you would think that they would only allow the people who bought the fake AVG to live chat with them, but it seems they offer free support. Classy. :P
Heh, if you go on IRC alot that just becomes normal :P Also, staying up late just watching it go to 0:00:000 is like a car's mileage going to 1000. A rare moment :D
Callum Mihaly dont be scared.Get a mac or install linux on your existing pc then you will be safe because mostly virus makers dont care about oses other than windows
As Mal-ware goes it's not the worst I've seen. I would like to put together a DVD of all of your rogue video's and force my relatives to sit and watch it before I agree to fix their computers. Honestly I don't know how they keep finding this stuff.
No, trap them in a room full of angry Giant Asian Hornets. The sting can be lethal due to its many toxins. Here are four interesting facts: a: Its sting has a higher concentration of the pain-causing chemical called Acetylcholine b: An enzyme in its venom can dissolve human tissue. c: Containing at least eight distinctly different chemicals, the venom itself produces one such that actually attracts others of its kind to the victim. d: Like all other hornets, it can sting repeatedly ;)
A similar thing happened to my grandmother, she was called on her phone about her pc and viruses, but she said she knew nothing about that and my son in the city knows more.
I got caught by a rogue like this, but it was malicious. My PC did not boot no matter what I did, and I had to use Safe Mode to get it out after two hours when I didn't know what I was doing. ...It sucked, but I'm glad I know about this now.
You know, "Mary's" first instructions might have worked. If you read it carefully, "she" says to go to the overview tab in fake AVG and then in the settings you change an option to stop it from protecting "antivirus core" (itself) and then after that you remove it with add/remove programs in control panel.
@GrellesLicht28 of course not, it is a fake antivirus and a fake removal program made by hackers. Apparently, the antivirus (which is a virus) is gone, but it is actually recording activity on your computer and sending information to the hackers, that's why it is better to have a good licensed security program, it is the only solution that can completely get rid of the malware in your computer.
got a question, can you direct me to where i can download that for say trashing a virtual machine? I do this sometimes to learn about removal techniqures.

Eventually removed manually by selecting files in avg folder. Now am able to update windows, but all Internet browsers still dead. Could you tell me where to look on the registry for traces of avg on vista? Regards Andrius
Well lucky for her she told me about it before it was too late and I was able to warn her about them being fake anti virus scammers, and she alerted her card company about it, and they told her that no charges had yet been made on her credit card and that they would be on the lookout for any suspicious charges.
I admire your guts to go ahead and for the sake of teaching the rest of us how to uninstall malicious software you went ahead and got your computer exposed to it in the first place.
Removal how-to: 1. Say everything Amp said in chat 2. Delete the rogue registries 3. Open the link 4. Install 5. Install Malwarebytes and do a scan 6. Remove infected files (including removal exe)
Theres a 2012 version, anyone got an idea how to remove it? it completely locks the start bar even in safe mode and things like hijack this etc are useless. cant reinstall windows/new hard dirve into the laptop either. please help
@1tengku believe me, you don't want to try it. One of my friends had it and it was a total pain removing it. I DIDN'T SUCCEED!!! Not even with support from Comodo, nothing worked! You don't say

@Night10101 I doubt it, considering "Mary" said they were called "World Wide Software" and were from Britain.
So I know avg is freeware, but could they still sue for something like this if they had the needed information?
Yes.
Sadly in places like China and India while copyright laws do apply, they don't for overseas manufacturers. So the suing wouldn't work.
I wonder if the chat is still active lmao
“Yeah this program might not be the real AVG..”
Mary: So here’s something unrelated
Malwarebytes is awesome!
I wonder what happens if you were to use something like waterfox, which is a firefox based browser, but isn't quite the same.
Hey. What are the specs of your PC. Were you running a VM at the time of making the video? Your PC looks really fast. I subbed as well.

@MrShoy Yea your right. If no one else does, i will.
No, trap them in a room full of angry Giant Asian Hornets. The sting can be lethal due to its many toxins.
