So good!!! Brilliant video!! Thank you so much sir. Wish I watched this before I installed all my PVC lines. I made a total rookie mistake and put all my risers directly under where my sprinkler should be. >.< :(

Mr. Hardware Aye, and next time I'll be using HDPE instead of that nasty toxic PVC as well.

Excellent video and tips. Thanks. The question I have is when using those male female adapters in tight spaces how are you screwing them together? Spinning one side clockwise with a pliers while the coupler is inside the poly-pipe prior to tightening the hose clamp? Thanks for clarifying.

Thank you so much! Excellent video. Would you mind sharing what you recommend using for a main line? I am starting completely over and can use anything. Thanks again.

Usually a sprinkler man uses 1 inch lines out per zone because typically that’s all the residential water service per home has available.

I hope you still check in. Question: Is the obstruction of the piercing component of the Blazing saddle equal to the loss in flow of the barbed connection? Thank you

Some professionals think so, at my house I have 9 rotor heads with the largest nozzle running fine on 60 feet of 1" line off a 1 1/2 hp pump. If you had a system configured to the last half gallon of water I would use barbed fittings, maybe. I try not to install systems without some slack in water flow.

Great video, well explained. Is it possible to plug off funny pipe. Long story short, my sprinkler system was put in before city put the curb. Whoever repaired the sprinkler system at that time, buried a sprinkler head a foot inside the earth, and i found the leak during fall winterizing, as the pressurized air was making noise under the sod. Come spring, i dug out to unearth a leaking funny pipe with a big fat sprinkler head buried. The repair person already had put another working sprinkler head around a 1.5 foot away. So I want to cap this off, but cannot find a plug for this size.

I do not plug any sprinkler lines because that will cause a dead-end in a leg of the sprinkler zone. The plug may freeze and break the next winter and cause a difficult repair the following the next summer. If you don't freeze the line is 1/2" i.d. so plugs are available. If no one stocks these in your area use a 1/2" stainless bolt.

@@MrHardware1 Thank you sir, for the quick reply. I got a 1/2" plug, but it did not fit the funny pipe. May be a 1/4" inch plug would help, i could not find it in Home Depot/Menards. I called my sprinkler installer and he suggested to kink the funny pipe and put a pipe clamp and tighten it. I have done that and could not see any leaks. But i have a feeling it will freeze in the terrible MN winter. Do you think i have to dig far back to the main line and remove the funny pipe.

@@pratapbob1 Funny thing the funny pipe, it can probably take a freeze and not burst. The fittings might... and I never abandon a zone without disconnecting it from the main. Just good practice.

How do you remove a coupling from flex pipe (I have a funny 90 that broke and is stuck in the pipe) need to get it out to put a new one in.

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Try warming the plastic and the pipe with a torch. Then using a large easy-out you may thread the fitting out. Typically I cut the pipe and use a coupling and a short piece of pipe to repair that job.

    • @epiphone278

@@MrHardware1 Thank You Sir! Yep I went ahead and cut the flex pipe and put another funny 90 on, worked out pretty well!

    Help
I have a strip where I believe it’s not being watered enough or maybe not at all. Grass has barely Survived in this area. Code calls for funny pipe to be used in this area since grass/strip is between my sidewalk and curb.
Question: 1) how do I know funny pipe is working properly?
    2) if I decide to just replace complete funny pipe only in this section how do I replace it? Where is the end of the funny pipe connected to? The zone also waters another strip which is watering perfectly and also the plants in front of my house which is watering perfectly too.

I never heard of a code concerning which kind of sprinkler pipe to use outside. I would only change a pipe that is damaged. Unscrew the top off the head that is suspect and turn on that zone, water should shoot up 1 to 2'. It could be a crushed pipe or clogged nozzle and filter. Note, always use filters on sprinkler heads.
