@@hubermanlab :)7 Please- What are your thoughts on- ¿DMT in association between: Dreaming, Dying , & early development?
From my understanding your pituitary gland produces DMT- when you are within REM; moreover, some sporadic amounts- during early development.. & an unprecedented amount when we dye & even random amounts leading to death…
¿What is your take- on the importance & associations between these DMT, life events?

My partner had been, for decades , afflicted with frequent nightmares.
She had been prescribed several different medications for this problem, with no relief.
As a hypnotherapist, we conducted two hypnosis sessions for this.
Her nightmares have abated by about %90.
Also, THC suppresses REM sleep, and there’s a phenomenon called rebound REM when you quit cannabis

I felt trapped for a while, but a very deep dream opened a door to begin individuation. Dreams are powerful if used wisely. The biggest tools you can have are a pen/pencil and paper right next to your bed. So, I agree completely with your comment. In the words of Steven Tyler "Dream on".

As I commented earlier, one thing that puts me to sleep are your NSDR videos, like I literally dose off somewhere in the middle of the 20 minute video and I would wake up to some ad at the end of the video and manage to pull the ear phone off to go back to sleep ......You have an awesome voice. Thank you. I live in the UK and since 2021 the neighbours and/or people I have lived in shared accommodation with have knocked on the walls whenever I try to sleep. The authorities claim to be powerless to stop this despite the fact that I have carefully documented it and I have moved house many times to different regions of England. Unfortunately I can attest to the negative effects this sleep deprivation has had on my own psychology. The functional impact can be catastrophic and it is rightly viewed as a form of torture. I have reason to believe that I am not the only person who has been targeted in this way and it would be great if we could stop this organised harrasment and make people accountable.

Ah, I loved this explanation about REM sleep helping to unlearn unhelpful emotional attachments. Thank you for the succinct explanation!
I have benefited greatly from EMDR therapy to help my brain release unhelpful emotional attachments from my caregiver PTSD. I could actually feel my brain remapping to a solution-oriented view of my trauma triggers during the therapy. Just one session was an absolute game changer. That combined with exercise and other factors have allowed me to heal and make progress in my own personal goals and career while still being a caregiver. I'm just about to start my first biostatistician job, and it's exciting.

Exactly what I said once. Memories stay, it just that over a period of time the emotional connection goes on decreasing.
Inhave been associated with Yoga and it's practices. Our Guruji Nimbalkarji mentioned about Sakshi Bhavana i.e. witnessing events that comes to one's mind passively or as a third person (who is not involved in the event) that comes post practice of Pranadhara and sitting still and being conscious about whatever floods the mind. My experience is that over a period of time, could feel my emotional connection to the event reduced and could now see how I can learn from the event however unpleasant the event can be.

Many anxiety dreams serve as warnings. I'm a truck driver and regularly have dreams about leaving the hand brake/parking brake off. Or getting out whilst the vehicle is moving and running after the truck to try to get back into the cab.
A lot of dreams where the brake pedal is ineffective or doesnt slow the vehicle quickly.
I dont really have many accidents in real life. Any accidents i've had in the last 20 years have been non serious & i have 22 years no claims discount.
I also grind/clench my teeth at night and clench my fists sometimes when dreaming. I wake up with joint ache in my fingers & knuckles quite often.

What is going on when a person has a nightmare about a very traumatic event and awakens with high levels of adrenaline already deployed - racing heart and extreme anxiety. Do nightmares happen outside of REM? Is it an issue that occurs when coming out of REM (because adrenaline supposedly is not deployed during REM)? Once awake with that adrenaline surge it is very challenging to get back to sleep.

I think it's different from you, but I remember getting treated with retinal detachment, and after that, I had a visual discomfort when I slept with my eyes closed, so I had to sleep with stress. However, as I worked on the activity of enduring with persistence, my eye health improved and I started to wake up comfortably. I think you may need a healing activity to change your thoughts positively. I hope this is a helpful piece for you.

Hhow well do the wearables such as watches track both deep and rem sleep. Can one rely on the data provided from these wearable?

Great question. They use correlated changes in heart rate and breathing. It depends a little bit on the device. Somewhere now starting to rely on temperature which is even better.

i would love to know your take on the jungian active imagination technique. the intentional revisiting of dreams whilst awake. if youve done something on that i would be very interested. i learned about it last year and it is fascinating to me. ive done it a few times and found it quite helpful but not a little terrifying.

I’m really enjoying learning about the correlation between sleep and memory, on the Coursera app. Thanks so very much for introducing us to the world of Coursera. Im so excited about it. The hardest part of it is narrowing down the list of courses that I want to take. Love that problem lol.

So, what do we think the effect of cannabis is on this function of REM sleep? I'm 60 days clean from a heavy daily use pattern, and my dreams are still very wild and emotionally distraught. It's very strange

Aside from God and my kids my dreams are my favorite thing in life, the place I go back to , what I want most and lend me hope peace and solace. The only thing that could be better is if they came true. I will not do anything to stop my dreams. I will be filled by them the rest of my life. And so what. They are everything. I love the study of sleep and dreams. And I am grateful for mine

I guess it's because you've watched too many movies about an event, or because you're so imaginative in your dreams that you're a person whose future story continues even though you're asleep. But I think that's sometimes the case.

I'd love to see Dr. Monika Wikman in your show. Monika received her PhD in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and then deepened her knowledge of Jungian Analysis at the Jung-Von Franz Center for Depth psychology in Zurich. She is an expert on topics including archetypal phenomena surrounding death, dreams, active imagination, and alchemy. Her work with the dying culminated in a research project called ‘Dreams of the Dying’ at UC San Diego Medical Center, which is the foundation of her most recent book, Alchemy of Life, Death and the Wedding Veil.
    Thanks for considering my request.

I’m a psychic medium but have no control over it. It just happens randomly. Like at my mom’s funeral, she told me something important via clairaudience. My deceased brother visited me in my sleep when I was younger. And since 19, my deceased best friend/soulmate has visited me off and on, mainly in my sleep, however once through clairaudience while I was awake and once when I was able to go into a trance (which I’ve never been able to do again) and only tried it because I knew he was trying to connect with me. I have some videos on my channel about some of my psychic experiences. My question is, is there something I can do to activate this ability, to increase the frequency, rather than letting it continue being random and much out of my control? I do have other psychic abilities but I am more interested in increasing the frequency of my psychic medium abilities. As for the messages I get, they’re quite clear and very profound, so no problems there. Also, I don’t use any cards or tools or anything else. Thanks.

@@chuck4714 Isn't it because you've been worried lately? For example, I like to have a break even when I'm active. Then, I feel the effect of feeling comfortable before and during sleep, even after waking up dreaming.

The video discusses the role of sleep and dreams in learning and emotional processing. It explains how slow-wave sleep aids motor learning, while REM sleep helps uncouple emotions from experiences. The video also compares REM sleep to trauma therapies like EMDR and ketamine treatment.

But I have a question: how can you explain those dreams that are full of anxiety, I mean nightmares ? If anxiety in dreams occurs strongly most people tend to wake up shocked and after a little wgile recognise with relief „ This was only a dream!“ 34:57

Curious to know if the therapeutic use of MDMA mimics REM sleep/EMDR therapy? The fact people who do MDMA therapeutic treatment talk about being able to experience emotions without being overwhelmed by them makes me think of this. Also, could increasing REM sleep for people with mental illness like schizophrenia , help reduce the impact of the illness when awake?
