Dire Straits were playing at Wembley Arena that night - so they did Live Aid at the stadium, then Mark was interviewed, then they played at the arena a couple of hours later. Quite a busy day for him.
That night’s gig at the arena was a full house, just like all the other nights on Dire Straits’ tour that year. They were doing a residency at the arena, something like 10 or 12 shows in a row, and by coincidence Live Aid fell on one of those days.
Yup, Bowie played two acts after Dire Straits with Queen sandwiched between them. If you watch the last five minutes of this video it includes an similar interview with Bono of U2 with Queen playing in the background. th-cam.com/video/E0lfwvPm9cE/w-d-xo.html
This is better quality than the other upload of the same interview. Are you the person who recorded the BBC broadcast of Live Aid right from beginning to end, and later used it to compile the 4-disc DVD set "The Unreleased Live Aid"?
Andrew Smith thank you. No unfortunately I have about six hours recorded on VHS tape from the BBC transmission. A good chunk of this was released on the official Live Aid DVD but the bits that were not I have tried to share via TH-cam
paul andrews - Could you put the whole six hours or so on some DVDs and send them to me (for private use only)? I want to experience that day as it was broadcast as much as possible. I can pay you for the DVDs and P&P?
Andrew Smith I don’t have ability to burn DVDs but if you send me a SDcard or USB stick I can copy the files onto that for you. It will need to be at least 8GB
This is the guy that wrote Telegraph Road. Very few writers can capture beauty such as this.
Telegraph road is up there with Bohemian Rhapsody, Free Bird, Comfortably Numb and So bloody on! That song changed the way i look at music.

genuinely don't know why they decided to still play their own concert, did anybody even go while Live Aid is still going on?
