I am writing an essay on this story and the yellow wallpaper, and I just find the last sentence so heartbreaking; she expresses almost a child-like wonder and innocence throughout the story, and when she just goes to put Little Rogue in its box, she gets hit with how alone she is. I know it's fictional, but how real is that? Sometimes, we think we form part of a group, only for them later to start mocking us, making us feel like we don't belong.
Hope your essay is a hit. You summed it up well. Thank you! It is heartbreaking. It's as if she’s not only packing away Little Rogue but her little (day)dreams as well.
