Miss brill found the scarf rather exquisite and it really suits her Also It’s quite interesting how a woman in her age still has her spirit and energy and likes to see things from the bright side
she is also really living through other people here, like when they overdid her reacting to the kids in soccer. that sort of happened in hte story, though it didnt focus on it THIS much
Beautiful...Lovely...Sad...but IN NO WAY does it break my heart the way the short story did when I first read it in 1980....Thirty years ago, and the words about "that old bag..." stayed with me for forty years, to the point that I am here, "derailed" while searching for the actual writing. Let me see how profoundly it still stands as great literature...Sweet little short film, but the liberties taken, I am afraid, dilute the power of the prose....
BECAUSE OF RUDE COMMENT ABOUT HER NECK.....SHES OLDER WOMAN SKIN CHANGES, SCARF PROBABLY SLID DOWN WHILE SHE NAPPED, HAD LONG WALK, ENCOURAGED ALL SHE MET, HEARD THIS. DISCOURAGEMENT ROILLED OVER HER....RAN TO SOLO APT, THOT.....I WILL OVERCOME, CONTINUE MY CALLING TO ENCOURAGE. grma nanI JUST READ COMMENT ABOUT ORIGINAL STORY..SHE WAS CALLED "AN OLD BAG"...I NEED TO FIND ORIGINAL SHORT STORY, BUT I REALLY CONNECTED IMMEDIATELY W THIS NEW VERSION..IM 83, UNDERSTAND HOW WORDS CAN HURT...❤
Great production. I've been studying Katherine Mansfield this year for Literature, you've done exceptionally well with this adaptation - still as depressing and futile as ever. I couldn't help but feeling great sympathy for poor old Miss Brill.
good job! i would just like to see the difference in the narration instead of her voice maybe the narrators voice.. or her thoughts instead of her speaking. only speaking when it calls for it. but still helps paint a picture. not what i pictured from the reading.
I was disappointed in the video too because it is not true to the story. Why not simply call it something else since the essential points are so changed?
The script and short film are based on the story and refer to it, but are a work in themselves. The band and the fur, important elements in the short story, are eliminated. Instead, the movie takes a dark and poignant story and adds something positive. The movie Miss Brill has a similar experience, but as she runs back to her flat, those people she passed earlier all change for the positive as if her presence has had an influence on them. In that fantasy she interacts with them in a positive way. Maybe a kind word or a nod (as she has with the old folks on the bench) or a little gesture, like bringing the old folks their book in the fantasy, do have a positive effect and make the world a bit kinder.Kinda mushy for an old curmudgeon eh. Well, just to stay in character; the actors all hammed it up horribly and the original story was a real classic, the film is just good high school project work.
My favorite story as a child- thanks for attempting to adapt for video- since you are presumably inured from criticism I will say that the movie is much too bright, the character is far younger looking that Miss Brill-- for some reason you have discarded much of the through-line metaphors, no fur is unforgivable- finally, your rinky-dink drop-needke score- well...this does not work much at all, so maybe you learned how tricky any narrative filmmaking can be- surely you had the notion that a famous short story would be a bullet-proof way to fundraise (just read the story) let's face it, you could not have chosen a tougher one
I'm a visual learner this helped me very much to understand the story a little more. Thank you! Great acting!
I watched this instead of reading the book, my teacher said wtf are you talking about
Lol
Omg same here 😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏, the book bored me so i watched this
ayo pass me the answers pls
Tron 爱 bruh I don’t know what your teacher put as the questions and I’m a plumber now and completely forgot about this shit story
Read the short story, this looks like a Shakespearean drama by some idiots. Over acting over loaded.
Thank you for making this, as an adult learner going back to school this has really helped me to understand the character more.
Thank you! this helps me understand her character a little more clearly. Now off i go to write my paper, yay lucky me !!!
+TheLuckyOne I know this is a year late, but I wouldn't go by this if I were you. Although you probably already found that out.

I agree with Charlie, although I am around 6 years late and you've probably graduated post-secondary already I wouldn't go by this if I were you xD
@@levibeselt2068 LMAO. Thanks for giving me a heads up. I wouldn't go by this story lol
The fur coat was so symbolic in this story! Where is it?!
Veronica Biblarz isnt the "fur" the scarf in this?
It was not a fur coat. It a fur that wrapped around the neck like a scarf. That said, the fur was tremendously symbolic.
@@JohnnyRecently Maybe the producers did not have enough money to buy one. :))

WHEN SHE put on scarf, it destroyed the entire piece. The real story has her put on fur. And that brings many symbols. I am out.

0:28 song anyone??
I loved the actress but the script has absolutely nothing to do with the Mansfield short story. Could anyone involved in making the film explain why?

Not exactly the same story, what a shame and the actress is too much to young for the story Miss Brill.
The novel is a good one, the film of it is a bad one. Sorry.
