One of the greatest annoyances for me was the emasculation of Hulk. His fear of Thanos was an insult to his origins. Similarly, the clipping of the Scarlet Witches' wings was criminal. She could have achieved what Thanos wanted without the infinity stones, she could have snuffed him from existence with little or no effort at all.

They have explained it wasn't fear. Hulk was not interested in being Banner's savior all the time, so he was basically on strike.
