Interesting...hadn't seen this performance. Great tune and a nice change up on the normal MMEB arrangement. And damn, does Chris Thompson have voice made for rock!
A fan from France
Yep, and the fact that he also plays guitar as well as he does (especially considering the standards of the day) almost feels unfair. The 70s and 80s had so much talent.
Bloody hell, I knew Chris was one of the all time great lead vocalists, I did not realize he was also a sh!t hot lead player (I thought he was just the rhythm guitarist).
The whole song has been dumbed down since the 90s. First it became a ballad and now it's just a shell of its former self :-( Nothing compared to the original dynamic arrangement
Can anybody identify Manfred's guitar rig? I see a Minimoog Model D, a Yamaha CP70, and maybe a Korg CX-3. What's the bright box left of the Minimoog? What's the keyboard on the left where the Melotron and Rhodes sounds come from?
The box to the left of the Minimoog is an Oberheim expander, which ended up with my friend Roy Weard who was one of the crew and did the robot mime at the top of Blinded By The Light
Whenever I hear this song, tears fill my eyes...I miss my love! Rest in Peace, my love
Me too. I can definitely relate, my friend.
As well.
Looked for a past soul mate hoping to chat, instead, I found her obituary.
Devastating.
CRIS THOMPSOM YOU ARE THE REAL VOICE THIS BAND
Best live performance ever...
Interesting...hadn't seen this performance. Great tune and a nice change up on the normal MMEB arrangement. And damn, does Chris Thompson have voice made for rock!
We just had such amazing music in the 80s. I sure miss it.
Thank god for TH-cam..
It‘s easy to get back! Just listen 😘
@@beanmchne Right? Back then we had to live in the moment. If you missed it you missed it. No replays on the net.
This is live..... real musicians ... real music...................... talent rules!!!
and the Awesome singer throws in a Guitar Solo!!
To think that Manfred Man has been around since the 60's .. he is Phenomenal .. and gets no credit... a real rock star!! It's the fucker on the Keys!
correction....... Manfred Mann
No Lyric monitor, pitch control, crazy lights or videos, sequencers or loops. Bunch of great musicians laying it down. We grew up with the best music.
Only good musicians.
Such a great band..

A great rendition of this song!
Oh this just kills me, eyes full of tears. Everytime they came to Brighton UK I was there !!!! ❤ (& I’m a folk singer)
I know this song is not about death or the Grim Reaper but for me it is.
Stunning CP-80, CX-3 and Minimoog...and of course, the FineTune just like mine...¡¡¡ NICE...
Fantastic!!!
I saw Chris Thompson last weekend in Wilhelmshaven. He is still magic!
......NO 'stumblin' in' for HIM ; )
what a masterpiece... and live... 👍😎🙌
One of the best Keyboarder of all times
This is SO MUCH BETTER than the studio recording.
I thought like you.
The lead guitar line...
IKR
The great ones make it look so easy.
The ending is fucking solid
Great vocal power
Or rather better than the Bruce Springsteen version.
What a fantastic voice - absolutely divine!
Yep, and the fact that he also plays guitar as well as he does (especially considering the standards of the day) almost feels unfair. The 70s and 80s had so much talent.
Wow. What a performance. His voice is amazing live
Beautiful..
They were such a phenomenal good live band
Chris Thompson is like Christopher Cross -- behind an angelic voice lurks a guitar monster.
What was it about Budapest bringing out masterpiece performances.
Headlining after the Puppet show
Tell you from experience: nothing hypes you up as much as a bunch of wild magyars partying to your tunes, they're the best :D
For all it's problems l would go back to the 80's in a flash.
Nice piano intro, a well put together song covering Bruce Springsteen original
Didn’t know Chris Thomson was such a great guitarist.
I had never realized he was the singer (all along) on this one either. I even HAVE this CD and it says it right there. Doh!
Thank you 🙏🏽 ❤
Very beautiful song. I can feel the beautiful emotion.
THIS IS FOR ME THE BEST VERSION OF ALL SINGERS IN THE WORLD ...
Definitely. Chris Thompson's voice is phenominal.
pretty amazing for sure
Bloody hell, I knew Chris was one of the all time great lead vocalists, I did not realize he was also a sh!t hot lead player (I thought he was just the rhythm guitarist).
sad day when chris left the earthband, Noel McCalla was last great singer fronting them
......WOWwowwowWOWza - that's just a MINDBLOWING live take.....
What a fantastic Guitar Solo
Was gonna say that but you did first :)
Yup!
His guitar playing gets overshadowed by his terrific voice but you really hear what a great lead guitar player he is here.
totally agree
Chris doesn't think he's a good instrumentalist. Go figure 🤔
Of course written by the Greatest ever mr Bruce Springsteen
amazing song. cosmic sounds.
Absolutely Mantastic love MMEB
I was born that year. Great sound

I think this song is actually the best one of the Earth Band’s Springsteen covers.
Chris thompson.Manfred on keys.
The drums are upfront
Can someone remaster this version? The tone is like listening to mono
He’s no Mick Rodgers.
Balls Balls Balls!
Brilliant
Musica linda adoro!♡
Nice guitarsolo.. Why only in this old live version?
Cool isnt it! I like the one over the record too but it's over different chords and i think it was trevor rabin... Chris solo is much more gutsy
shame about the bad edit near the end of it though.
The whole song has been dumbed down since the 90s. First it became a ballad and now it's just a shell of its former self :-( Nothing compared to the original dynamic arrangement
I like the studio version a lot better
okay lol
Vocals. Vocals. 👏👏👏
What a great memory for me. I saw the show on 12. March 1983 in Cologne (Sporthalle). Special guest on this concert: Vitesse.
Unübertroffen....
I miss my dad playing this 😢
80's Gold
God bless you Mary.See you when I get there.!

@@wrekker69 that your friend's name is Roy Weard is as cool as him being crew for Captain Manntastic 😎
Absolutely amazing!
omg i love manfred :) lisen to him for over 40 yr !
My favourite one nowadays
This is the the real deal
I like it
!!)))
