I have tested all types of tweeters, the winner by far are silk dome tweeters, they deliver the softest sound, they are fast, and absolutely natural with a well made crossover. Metallic dome tweeters are dynamic too, but sometimes it can be rough and fatiguing, ribbon tweeters sounds dull and opaque when you are out of axis unless you are a statue that never moves from the sweet spot, electrostatic mid-highs like in martin logans sound spectacular, but they can lack some dynamics and sound quite opaque out of axis, not so much like ribbons.
Has anybody tried to use Ribbon and silk tweeters in a speaker? I'm asking because I want to do some experimentation in my speaker that uses 2x 40W tweeters, is it a dumb question?
@@Neo07070 well, I did it, and is sounding great. I should have gone with a bigger/stronger silk tweeter because the ribbon is a bit more powerfull, but even smaller, it keeps the highs in an omni direction, different than ribbon that is a straight line projection.
Can I use additional external tweeter in my existing 5.1 speaker system? My current set up is AVR :Yamaha 3072,Front speaker :NS 555,Centre :NSC 444,Rear Speaker:NS 333,Sub woofer : NSW 300. Whether my avr can sustain the additional load of the tweeters? Which tweeter will best fit for me? My all speakers are of 6 ohm ratings. I should use the additional tweeters in center channel or front channel?
