BTS' group MVs are almost all filmed in S Korea and are all directed by the same director, Choi YongSeok aka Lumpens.
We definitely noted that the camera guy is almost always the same - at least from the videos we HAVE seen. That's super cool.
The green liquid in the crystal goblet with the sugar cube over it is Absinth, also known as the "Green Fairy"; it symbolizes temptation and indulgence. You see a green drop fall onto JK's finger which he then puts in his mouth, symbolizing he's given into temptation. There is the green smoke in the room with RM and JK, green spatter from Hobi's arrow, the green tears after Jin kisses the angel statue of Abraxis (which also signals his fall to temptation and acceptance of his darker side). There is also the "last supper" scene with the apple on the plate... also a symbol of temptation...
Why green? GREEN is the color of absinthe. Absinthe stands for artistic enlightenment and exploration, of poetic inspiration, of a freer state of mind, of new ideas, of a changing social order.
Well, we've heard a number of different meanings behind the green, but we like this one :)
@@filmbuff000 correct and indirectly it helped cause the death's of 1000's of people in Europe as it lead to many Sex parties where they people pasted on the STD that sent people mad and killed them. Simply because they thought they had recovered so never got the correct medical treatment that would have saved them. When the STD attacks the body for the second time sometime's a few years later it's too late and it attacks the brain sending people mad as well. All very very sad.

If you haven't guessed by now, almost every MV has a behind the scenes and a Choreography video made with it.
BangPD said he wanted the fans to be able to see how its done and to know how hard the guys are working.
The guys also wanted Army to know, just like RM use to go on lives after each album was made and would talk about the making of it, who or what inspired it, what type of flow they used for lyrics, how the got the beat for the song....if you look at the guys YT profiles, you'll see the date each started. Then look at other groups abd you'll see, BTS started years before any of the others did. They have always wanted ARMY'S to feel like a part of each song and album and know what they do.
Suga once said that for him, explaining these things would help get some of the nerves out of him thst he gets after writing and producing. 😂

Green is the color of Absinthe. That’s what they are supposed to be high on. And what RM has in the glass. The song is about the temptations of youth.

I think all their MVs have behind the scenes videos (or Shooting Sketches), including their solo projects. And they are all well worth watching. You do see them play, and joke around a lot, but when it's time to film - or review the shots - they are always in professional mode.

@@HPReact "I drank from the poisoned chalice, knowing it was poisoned" is a line from the song suggesting they knowingly gave in to temptation. I always thought that absinthe explained the intense magenta-colored dance sequence, since it was once mistakenly thought to be a hallucinogen and the cause of dangerous and addictive behavior.
Yea glad you picked up on that, throughout years of behind the scenes, what is consistent is BTS will always be thankful to their crew, dancers, and everyone they work with in general. Also, usually green represents something ominous or sinister, my take here is it represents temptation.
Light vs Dark (notice the door frames being black or white same as the statues), Good vs Evil (notice the angelic & demonic statues and the painting of The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Bruegel, a Flemish Renaissance artist, in 1562), Resist or Succumb to Temptations. Green is Evil, Poison, Succumbing to Temptations.
Jin at the end kisses the statue with the wings cut from the fallen angel (represented by V as evil) finally succumbing to temptation and why his face begins to crack and he starts to bleed green.
That is the "childish" way of seeing it.
"Demian" is about Individuation: "the path to oneself".
It's about growing up finding your own path without bowing to the dictate of earthly or heavinly rules under aspects of the philsopher Nietzsche (God is dead) and the psychologist Carl Jung.
They after all do not leave through either the white or the black door.
With the kiss he leaves his home behind and finds his way in the real orld which till now he was always protected from. He is embracing his other side, too. After all we are more than our good/"perfect" sides.

In terms of the sets, I'm 99% sure they've reused the purple room as well as the two story set. A little paint, a little change in set dressing, and you're good to go. I really respect that they do that for many reasons, including costs (I do budgets for a living LOL).

Always fun to hang with you two. I think it was done in Korea. It was 2016 and they had not yet broken into the US Market. Also I am basing this on my viewing of Kdramas. The production quality of kdramas - Vincenzo, Attorney Woo etc is the same quality as the US. One of the reasons I like them so much. Different story telling but incredible production value. PDBang is known for wanting excellence in all things. They did a Harvard Business Case (2020) on Big HIt before becoming HYBE. And even before that an IVEY business case (Cdn bus school) in 2017. Fascinating

@@HPReact Btw, business case is not about production quality of BTS' videos but their business model. Don't know why my brain went there but PDBang (who guided BTS) is a very interesting person so interesting he and his company was a subject of case studies.

Also, did you notice that video was by Bangtan Subs? Early on this channel is where we got pretty much all of our translated videos (especially the behind the scenes videos). When watching Bangtan Subs, be sure and keep an eye out for the little notes (usually in red) at the top of the video where they do a little explanation of what is going on or the context of what is being said or done. They were our life savers back in the day and we LOVE them.
I love a pro's take on these behind the scenes, seeing through your eyes. And, of course, I appreciate your appreciation for what these guys do. Considering they worked hard constantly for years without a break (no exaggeration), I wonder if military life seems easier.

Another fun thing to watch is THEIR reactions to the videos. There are several of those on the BangtanTV channel.
The behind the scenes sketches and episodes on TH-cam tend to be shorter. They have longer versions on their yearly BTS Memories dvds. For example Memories 2021 was 7 disks and 8hrs & 40 mins (520 minutes) long🤯😁. There is sooooo much BTS content

Im glad you guys are digging into the behind the scene stuffs, Great job for couple of baby ARMYs.
I remember when my father who was a freelance scenic artist in Hollywood for over 45 years took me to the reopening of Culver city studios. I went roaming around the big sets that had lots of props! It was awesome as a kid around 12 years old. It just brought back memories when you were talking about sets! I have been and helped with a lot of them throughout my childhood!

For me the green staff is bliss. It could send you to a peacefull, trance, place but at the same time is something bad for you. it ties you, it became and addiction. And it is absenta, at least, for sure, for RM who is using it in the proper way. The is a story about temptation. About the things that you know, and you realise when you became an adult. I don't know if you have read Herman Hesse Demian. This song and the full album is based on that book. A young good boy called Sinclair from a very religious familily meets Demian, someone free, a kind of demon that shows Sinclair to enjoy and accept himself and his bad sides (I will no tell you more because it is a classic book that should must be read).

The entertainment industry is so big in South Korea that there is a Minister of Entertainment in the government. You should check out the company BTS is with. So many different types of art and entertainment under one roof. It is quite an interesting concept and story behind it.

There are explanation videos you can watch to also give you some perspective the meaning and what the props are symbolic for. As you probably already heard, there is a story line behind BTS music videos especially during the HYYH era so you might notice the same props being used in different mvs. So in this MV, the statues, colours, paintings used all have meanings especially when the song is about resisting Temptation

Just so you know (since you've mentioned their hair color numerous times) they usually dye (re-dye) their hair when they have a come-back. From what I understand, in Korea a "come-back" is whenever a group releases new music. I learned early on not to try and recognize them by hair color. lol
Also, you "camera guys" should watch Jimin's Save Me and J-Hope's More (their new-est videos) because robot cameras were used on those. 🤯🤯

I think you might be interested in watching the explanations that unpack the meaning of the video’s, their work is very deep and everything has meaning. They blow my mind each time!
@5:02 Jimin suffered from Disordered Eating during the filming of this MV. He hadn't eaten a regular meal in Days in order to achieve what he perceived (and, like most Idols, was Encouraged to see) as an "Ideal Look", sharp jawline and bone structure, etc. He was taken to Hospital immediately after the shoot and since then has strived for a healthy balance 🦋
