Co-Worker threw a pair of heavy metal tongs at me and struck me in the neck when I was washing the dishes to clean them. His excuse was since the area was blocked by freight it made more sense than to simply wait or hand them to someone who would then hand them to me. Made zero effort to get my attention first, and had to go get checked out by a clinic after. Feel bad the kid got fired but had it been a vat of oil or something more volatile I'd have been badly injured.

I was a part of one of my coworkers being fired, my supervisor to be exact. She was trying (and failing) to enforce religiously-motivated rules in our workplace and bulled me relentlessly for being openly non-christian. I was known as the “fun, friendly atheist” for intentionally taking shifts on sabbath days to give people their holy days off. She tried taking away my life-saving medications from my locker because “Jesus cures all”. And then told me I needed to burn in hell.
At the meeting with my manager, a man I had known since the turnover of staff, she told him to my face that I had no rights to be protected because I am a “white atheist”. If I was male, i’d have a three-in-one in her eyes. My boss saw me chuckle, and told her point-blank, “So…we are adding racial discrimination to your record, is that right?”
I sputtered trying to keep myself from laughing. Supervisor supremacist was not amused. So she was let go after a “Do you know who I am? Who my father is?”
He replied with “Yes. He’s a captain. YOU aren’t in the military. We don’t give a crap who you’re related to. Please leave.”
I miss that manager after I had to move states.

Coworker was my roommate. She was chronically unemployed and I managed to get her a job as a secretary at the industrial paint manufacturing plant I worked at. She was being trained at the job, but the moment she was left alone, she started playing solitaire on the company’s computer, in full view of the owner’s big window office. She also kept the general manager on hold for over twenty minutes when he called, and just sat there fooling around. She was immediately fired by the general manager, who was actually a really nice man, as soon as he back into the building.

I was a Senior Manager, one evening, about 9 pm, i received a call from the Wife of one of my junior professionals in which she “complained” her husband was having an affair with a client, the clients estranged husband had “surprised” them “en flagrante” with the result our employee fled down the street partially unclad. I called the employee into my office the next day and read him the Riot Act, not firing him, but pointing out the ethical problems of his actions. I found out the next day the employee and simply “walked away” from his Wife, the Girlfriend, his job and the State, he got on an aircraft and disappeared.

the airport ramp worker who got fired for foolishly approaching a running aircraft engine is lucky to be fired from their job and alive rather than being sucked into a jet engine and shredded

My brother is the kind of person to get a new job and be late to work twice in the first week through no fault but his own and then get mad like they were being unfair when they fire him. I don’t even know how many times he’s been fired, but at least 3 times.

Story 21 hits a little to close to home. Stepfather had a brain tumour I saw him degrade in front of me.
    I miss him.

I met a guy at a care facility my mom was working at. He had been a brilliant attorney, the county attorney for our county and did legal work for his political party on a national level. When I knew him he had suffered from a massive coronary with accompanying brain damage. He could remember what he had done and everything about it except how to do it anymore.

My brother-in-law is one of those people who work somewhere a week and then think they can tell the boss what to do!!! He has had to get a new job at least every 2 months and in one county no one would hire him at all!!!

Seen it quite a bit 1st time was when I worked as a barista at Starbucks had a friend get fired over $1.50 soup. The most messed up 1 was when my job fired a whole dept at once in the middle of a shift. Worst of all they had security escort them out so they're walking thru the building for every1 to see

    • @stevedavis5704
      @stevedavis5704 หลายเดือนก่อน

My brother worked at a company that did a lot of work for the military so you needed a higher than average security clearance to do the work. One of the rules was no sharing passwords. One of his coworkers was sitting at his desk when security came up with a box and started clearing his desk. When they were asked why they said that all they knew was that they were told to clear him out. He went to HR and asked what was going on and was told that while he was on the clock at work someone had used his password to access his company computer. Turned out his wife thought he was fooling around so she used a catcher on his home computer to get his password and waited until he was supposed to be at work and checked up on him. When it was sorted out he divorced her, was rehired to work the front office for about a third of what he made before and he was put on a list that will make it so that he will never be able to get a government security clearance again.

As someone who had someone else tip a bucket of soapy dark floor water into the sink then not tell me she'd also left the kitchen knives in there
    I understand the fireing
I picked that bad boy up by the blade, the only reason it didn't cut through my finger was because I was wearing thick rubber gloves (the washing up liquid had the effect of paint stripper on my hands)
The when she was reprimanded she said "why didn't she just look before she stuck her hand in"
There was probably a good 1/2 foot of soap foam

Refilling liquor bottles is a violation of Federal Law under 26 U.S. Code § 5301, specifically in subsection c. All 50 US States also have a law that prohibits refilling liquor bottles.

I worked in a factory building small flatbed trailers. This co-worker stunk like rotten onions (was warned by HR) but that's not why he got fired, dude was supposed to hold this bar I was grinding down so it didn't fly out and hurt us but he was barely holding it and not paying attention at all. I got my supervisor and the guy got fired on the spot for working in a dangerous manner, everyone there could finally breathe. Dude got replaced by a kid with so much hair gel/spray and I told him "As long as you hold the bar down, I won't complain that your hair is more flammable than a can of gas, if you get lit on fire that's your problem!" Kid turned out to be a great worker and was one of my favorite co-workers.

manager caught coworker who had above average amount of work done per day and customer reviews taking drugs(insulin) and fired him when we were low on employees. then owner fired manager. amount of work done per day tripled, employees were no longer tired, customers were leaving slightly better reviews, all because there was no longer manager screaming at them.

Okay so I have one question for story 16. Would it have been better if the op for the story actually stopped and explained things to the co-worker? I say this because ignoring the coworker like that makes it seem like to them that now your upset because you missed them. If it was explained then perhaps they would have calmed down.
