I did about 10 years of calligraphy, and very important, DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE USE YOU FOUNTAIN PEN as the nibs have formed to your hand pressure which is unique to you and your writing style. The hand of another will damage by bending the nibs thus destroying how it writes for you. Beautiful pen. I had a very nice Monte Blanc fountain, and I sadly had to sell it. Now I have a really cheap thing off Amazon and lol honestly It writes just as nice.❤
Just ordered the pen and some noodler ink in blue and walnut. I'm looking forward to trying a more weighty pen than I currently have. 🙂 A typewriter led me to use fountain pens. I purchased an Olympia SM7. Included in the sale was a metal typewriter stand that has a drawer. In that drawer was all types of vintage writing and typewriting implements to include two fountain pens, a Scripto and a Sheaffer's. I purchased two Waterman pens because they are 'pretty'. The fountain pens I have are wonderful to write with, far superior to the ballpoint pen. Thanks for the videos. Very informative. :)

I couldn't resist. It writes like a dream and very smooth. I certainly hope this isn't leading down another rabbit hole. LOL

Well, there's a good reason they don't, Sterling. There are uses for digital technology. It makes documents easier to edit and share. But this is a finishing stage. In its pivotal "raw" form, I believe we should write however makes us feel most comfortable and productive. For me, that tends to be analog and I've never had anyone complain yet. I wrote a novel of 180,000 words using a fountain pen. Loved the experience. Hated typing the words into the computer. But I’m trying to learn to enjoy the entry process. I’m now using pens to compose a basic draft/outline of each chapter which then gets fleshed out on a typewriter, double-spaced. I edit that draft and enter the changes into Scrivener on my Mac.
Completely understand and agree, David. I was just talking with a friend tonight and she wondered why I’ve been using fountain pens so much lately. Answer: because that’s what feels right. She said: But I thought you always use typewriters. Truth is I don’t always do anything the same way. And the good news is, when a typewriter feels right, I’ve got plenty. Bottom line, get it out. My editing stage going forward is on an older Mac Mini with every app removed, even the default ones, except Scrivener, Settings, and Terminal. Had to do some fancy stuff to make that happen.

Thanks so much for this video! I bought a Sailor Fude pen and was trying to figure out how to replace the cartridge that came with waterproof ink. I like to use it with watercolors.
Also Damon, try a Pilot Precise V7 RT or a V5 RT. It's not a ball point, it's a flow tip and I have found that it's a kind of fountain pen feeling, but lol with training wheels, like what the safety razor did for the industry. Mmmmm--Hmmmm But they are really good pens last an insane amount of time, and it would seem that other fountain pen (which got its name for endless ink flows like a fountain) Users like them as it too reminds one of the easy way one writes. A much better feeling and contact with the paper. A ball point is like walking on stilts you have no real organic connection to the Earth.❤

I use a needle and syringe to fill my pens. A little cleaner IMHO.
