I stayed here back in the 90’s, for a High School Band trip. One of the most amazing places I have ever been. Getting high and exploring in the middle of the night is one of my most fondest memories EVER. Around 2am, my buddy and I discover this little stone cave with benches and a waterfall flowing over top. Our minds were blown!!! When we thought it couldn’t get any better, we discover a pond with boats, surrounding a mansion and little town street with shops. 30+ years later, and I have never had an experience quite like The Opryland Hotel.
Round trip Gas to MAKE it to Tennessee: $80 ($35 per tank, plus gas) Unavoidable government Toll fees: $30 ($10 per toll camera/toll booth) Hotel cost: $500+ (I’d just sleep out of my car like a rat, so we can avoid this one.) Restaurant in Tennessee: $50-$60 Window shopping in Tennessee: free (but at that point, I may as well just bring my own food, and watch videos online of rich people exploring it.) Entertainment/services: $80-$200 depending on how many you do, so we’re gonna call this one “optional.” Tours: free Parking fee: $35 Souveneir: somewhere between $25-$40, so we’d have to skip that. So for a single day we’re looking at a *minimum cost* of $155 (where the trip feels more like a homeless trek across the country) and a *maximum cost* of $1000 (after taxes), *PLUS* the lost income of taking 2 days off to make that trip since 1-way would take me about an entire day from where I live. $2000 for that trip. Can’t do it man, that’s a vacation for the wealthy. I’m working class and got a housing bill to pay, I’ll just view from online, thanks.
