Word of advice as an owner of one. Don't bother with the 25 TFSI! Just go straight for the 30. As well as that, the regular tech pack is basically a must. Ideally, I would say get the Sport trim with the 30 TFSI engine with the tech pack. If you don't spec tech pack, you will regret it! I am! Other than that, lovely, premium little motor. Absolutely brilliant.
Love this review and came across your channel looking for an A1 review. There will be no replacement after this model goes EoL, maybe next year(?), which is such a shame. I too love the ‘old fashioned’ tech and the lack of bleeping at you and this is on my shortlist to replace a Honda E as primarily a city car but for occasional long distances. I wish I was 6’2 but lack of height will work here- lol. Thanks for a fab review 🙏🏽
That’s different to daytime running lights which are on all the time, regardless of how light or dark it is. Auto lights turn on the headlights and rear lights when it gets dark.
nice looking car, great video 👌🏼I do own the latest vw polo, and believe that in vw they preferred to save space espaxially for back passenger on the polo, and keep the A1 smaller but lower and sportier.
@Bambotb the i20 is the best handling small car relative to the class, but make no mistake, if you're after sports car handling you won't really get that in the supermini segment.
Why do Audi interior plastics always look cheap? There already appears to be marks on the interior & this is virtually a brand new car! I think we will stick with our BMW F40 1 Series 118i M-Sport for a little while longer, as it is a similar price to this car, similar spec, but the build quality of the BMW is on a other level.
@@BuckleUpShow ….yes, I understand that they are both in the same class, but my point being the interior plastics & build quality of the BMW is a lot better than both the Audi A3 & the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Scratchy plastics on the Audi & rattling & loose parts in the Mercedes-Benz. It’s just one of the reasons why we’ve stuck with BMW.
@@BuckleUpShow Correct, saloon (sedan) only. I think the only one they do is the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron--which might even be all older models! Sad. I was just in England and loved seeing all the various models. :)
Your comment said the A1 has nothing to do with the Polo. That is factually incorrect whichever way you look at it. They share every component under the skin. It’s just a different body on top. Same for the Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia. It’s the car equivalent of putting on some makeup.
@@BuckleUpShow i said the a1 is way more premium mate, the materials are more premium the engine is more responsive and the car quicker, the driving experience is completely different, the handling as well, the look of the a1 is much better and sporty than the poor in every angle vw polo. That is my quick review.
And you also said it has nothing to do with the Polo. While materials are more premium, the chassis and engines are identical to that in a Polo, so it’s no sportier or faster in like for like spec.
Wireless only optional. I did my order feb 2021 and had to wait one year for delivery. If i wanted to ad witeless they said i had to wait several month more. This was durint the time there was a massive lack of semiconductors and everything going on with covid!
Guess it depends whether you’d rather spend the money to make your interior nicer or not - the A1 definitely sits at the premium end of the market though!
@@BuckleUpShow It is not the best I agree - but, you have do have "voice command" also it is only one swipe down from the main screen for you to add "favourite" function apps. A friend of mine has new Golf and went through everything and I was quite impressed..
@@BuckleUpShow Audi have said they will remove some of these numbers. But how will you compare ICE cars to EV's ? EV's have no cubic capacity. Many agree with you - I don't. I think the Audi numbers make sense. Why not change them to one tenth of max bhp ? To what would you change it ?
After driving a Peugeot 208 and looking straight at the instrument console with its lowered steering wheel I couldn't go back to the idea of peering through a steering wheel to look at the dials. It looks so archaic and impracticable.
Can you sit in the back 'not particularly well' is a massive understatement, the actual answer is 'no, not at all. It's sh*t'. It's not a 4 person car, let's dredge up the 80s description '2+2' actually for 2 people and maybe for a short drive 2 extra people can be transported in the car as well.
I disagree, it’s definitely a 4 person car. The majority of people are not as tall as me, and during my time with it, 4 people were comfortably travelling along in it.
I have the A1 35 tsfi 2023 model. I agree that is not a true 2+2 people car. At least not if you are of normal size. Im 183cm. Only a child have space behind me.
They’re both built on the same platform with the same engines and same electronics, so it’s really down to which you prefer the look of and which one you can get the best deal on.
A1 was worst brand new car I ever bought, broke down day one, dealership hopeless, repair after repair, after two years I was glad to see the back of it. Every fault would be described as a characteristic of the car, later I saw Audi bottom or close to bottom for reliability.
I agree a dud but when I saw that Audi were bottom for customer service and reliability in one of these JD Power or Warrantywise surveys I realised the brand’s success is a triumph of marketing.
Great video as always Rob!

This is so helpful, I'm actually considering the A1
I drove for a while the 30 TFSI version. It's a fun little car :) thinking of getting the 40 TFSI variant.

In my head this is the size an audi A3 should be
It would have been not so long ago. Even small cars are now big.
Well it is a baby a3 what else do yiu want more horsepower ? They got S line trip for that
does the A1 model have also daytime rear LED lights?
No, that’s not required by law

What is that fabulous looks mum van in the background?
That would be the dogger
so what is the reliability track record of the A1? Nice review btw

is it worth 14k more than i20 on same specs ? if yes why thanks
Only if you want an Audi badge

Not in the UK they haven’t

But the numbers bare no relevance to anything about the car
