Wow, I extremely enjoyed this video. I saw so many familiar places. I attended Port Morant all age. I moved away from St. Thomas in my childhood. Seeing this video gave me so much joy. I saw my sister's house too, and the Leith Hall Baptist church where I used to attend with my dear grandmother. Oh man this video touched my heart. The icing on the cake was when you said crab to mali, OMG, all I can say is thank you, thank you for such an awesome video. And that fish place that you mentioned, I would love to visit it on my next trip to Jamaica. You are doing a wonderful thing. We foreigners that are away for umpteenth years really appreciate them.

carlene, port morant run down bad. i almost never recognise it.
what people getting exited about is bull shit. lets face it, the kind of infrastructor development this parish needs is far from what they are doing. people the be smart , dont you see the government is just scratching the surface.

Barrant Cross Road @27:41 (well at least that's what we called it back then because Mr Isaac Barrant and wife lived in that corner). Place kind of run down. The blue building is now Mass Hue's grocery shop. In my days that shop was on the other side of the street. The theatre/cinema was next to the blue building. I remember the ball-ground. There used to be an old fighter jets at one end. The Rubis Gas Station was a Shell Station and Mass Hue's oldest son used to manage it. The basic school at Chapel Hill was ran by a Mr Bradshaw. I went to church on Market St. I would go to the 7Th Day with my uncle on a Saturday, then the next week I would attend the Catholic Church on a Sunday with my auntie. Loved my formative years in East St Thomas. Such a pity the video did not highlight Land Top and Curtis Bottom.

Interesting developments. I just find myself thinking, wondering whether a hot country such as Jamaica is making sufficient use of solar lighting? portable solar lights could be being used, if it is not already being used, to help provide lighting, even if only temporarily, in rural and isolated and poor communities.
