It's ridiculous that in a world full of magic, advanced technology, aliens, cosmic beings, and LITERAL gods, they couldn't find a way to cure Shadowhawk.
I believe image comics try give realism Marvel has fantastic stories Dc has stories amazing with adult air but image with this hero make one step more in realism
Spawn and Savage Dragon are the only two Image launch titles that are still being published today. Savage Dragon went on hiatus for several years when Erik Larsen became publisher of Image, but it's been back for some time now.
Such a cool throwback! I had a few of these comics with the holofoil covers and I remember thinking Shadowhawk had one of the coolest looks in all of comics
Right!?! Shadowhawk had some of the best covers in the game. I still remember those holofoils. Man... I miss those styles of covers. You never see those anymore
I loved Shadow Hawk when I was a kid and I still have all of the first two series. It was violent and edgy like nothing else at the time. I remember my older brother and I discussing who Hawk was before his identity was revealed. I anticipated that reveal like nothing else in a story line from that period. I still read them from time to time and am still impressed how unique it was. Great vid!
Thank you, E! I'm right there with you. The last thing I expected to see under that mask was a whole ass black man. I loved that character even before the reveal but then it just all became even more hype.
Man I used to LOVE Shadowhawk! It was one of the first comics i collected regularly. Everything else was kinda hit and miss, even Batman. Thank you for giving him some shine. Also, Alan Moores run on Supreme was really good. It was a deconstruction of Superman and his history. If you have a bit of time, check it out.
I've checked that one out! Supreme was one of the other good ones out of Image. But yeah, man... Comics were so crazy then. Image was doing some of the wildest shit I had ever seen lol
@@BlerdWithoutFear You are so right. They were drawing bowling ball tits and doing anything they wanted to do as far as the plot. There were some Witchblade comics I DEFINATELY did not want my mom to see.
You brought up the crow I think is a great comics and movie Brandon lee one not the others but I also thought of it as a spirt of justice great reference oh also the other shadow hawks felt like they was jus trying to revamp the character cause all the other image comics character was damn near op super hero’s or anti hero’s and don’t let me get start on spawn lol
Yeah, Shadowhawk seemed like such a random powerless guy in Image back then. Everyone else is an ancient evil, a demon from hell, a super freak, a giant rock dude... Then there's SH... Regular guy... With AIDS lol. He was already behind the 8 ball 😂😂😂
Really good video I'm a shadowhawk fan myself and I've recently started rereading the run on shadowhawk as well I hope you end up covering more of this character at the Eddy mantle, and going from there
Johnstone met Spawn twice: (Shadowhawk #2 and #17). They didn't fight, as you noted. The first appearance was more or less Spawn telling Hawk to get his ish together and take down a pyro, or else. The second time they actually fought a demon together. I liked this team-up better because Johnstone pleads with Spawn to use his power and cure him so he doesn't die, and Spawn tries to impress upon him that dying is the easy part... it's what happens after death that is the killer.
Never read the comics but I remember coming across trading cards with artwork of Shadowhawk - also had those cool Judge Dredd cards - forgot his name after all these years (Knew it was something Hawk lol). Came across him again on pinterest the other day, now I want to read em - and I never knew he came from Image! Spawns been one of my favorites since I was a kid, so I'll definitely give these a go!
I've wanted to see shadowhawk as a film for so long. Maybe if spawn gets off the ground we can get an image universe type thing. Or at the very least a few movies.
Shadow Hawk was one of my absolute favorites. I had to have every single one, and even stole one from my fav comic shop because I was poor. (Still regret that today).
I have to admit i totally wrote this guy off back in the 90s as another cliche chrome plated anti hero. I didn’t even know he was Black (as am i)! Turns out I totally missed out on what was probably a pretty solid book - almost seems like a Milestone type of story. Thanks for the info! 🙏🏾
Tell me he wouldn't be an awesome movie, especially how he treats the villians he sees doing crimes,I've been a giant fan buying #1 when it first came out, including his first appearance in youngblood, loved him for years, especially the first one Paul
You mentioning Star Wars reopened some wounds man lmao. I really wished they focused on Finn's character more in the trilogy lol. Anyways, Shadowhawk has always been an interesting superhero to me due to him being a hero who has to deal with HIV/AIDS.
I doubt that they would bring back Shadiwhawk on the image title, with being more on story then action..... but I could be wrong......(Just subscribed)

Right? That's the one thing I always thought was so strange about his arc. Spawn can't cure you???? Whack...
I imagine it's for the same reason nobody could cure Captain Marvel's cancer.
@@BlerdWithoutFear I agree wholeheartedly. I understand if Spawn didnt want to do it, but he cant??? Naw shawty. Not buying that.

Loved all the black heroes image pumped out when they launched. Spawn and Shadowhawk being my two favs.. miss savage dragon too

Thank you, Dean! Its feedback like this thats makes it easy to keep bringing the heat. THANK YOU!!!!😁
My favorite Shadow Hawk story was when he went against the Trencher in Images of Shadow Hawk

Shadowhawk was one of my childhood favorites. After watching this I remember how violent it was and I probably shouldn't have been reading it hahha.
They NEED to make a live action Shadowhawk movie!
What a badass hero
I want more shadowhawk, let's pressure the owners for this to happen.
One of my all time faves!!! I still have my copy of issue 6, that shit blew my mind when I read it the first time. Thanks for another great video.
One of the most underrated characters in comic book history and his story is probably the most interesting. Glad someone covered him

crazy, I had all the early issues of ShadowHawk and I don't think I ever saw this whole backstory.
This was one of my favorite comics too! I LOVED the artwork! The stories were pretty good. I just wish that it lasted much longer than it did.
O.G. Shadowhawk is one of my favorites!
I've had Shadowhawk, Spawn and Savage Dragon comics back in the 90s!
Possibly my favorite none marvel or DC character
Same here. He had so many layers. Something about his character just checked all the right boxes. Still reads good till this day!

Huge fan of Shadowhawk. He was one of my favorite anti-heroes from Image Comics. A Shadowhawk movie would be amazing!
I want movies & shows, live & cartoon...NOW.
I forgot that the first ShadowHawk was black!
This was one of my favorites back in the day. Thanks for this highlight.

All of that *Hateoracy* towards drugdealers? And still couldn't get the villians who injected him/beat him down? Neat character!
Oh,Shit The🔥! HAHAHAHAHA!
Throwing it back! I haven't read any Shadowhawk since the '90s. May have to dig through some back issue boxes.
Dude, it still holds up. Especially that Hawks Shadow arc
@@BlerdWithoutFear that Hawks Shadow story is exactly what I'm going to seek out.

Image Comics Was Always Very Underrated Which Pains Me Seeing Is How They're So Fucking Good With Alot Of Unique Characters
Love that intro! Dope video bro, I forgot all about Shadow Hawk 🤦🏿♂️
I loved Shadowhawk's story. He deserved better
Nice job on the history!!! It brought back some great memories!!!
Shadowhawk II #1 WAS MY FIRST COMIC, Absolutely enjoyed Shadowhawk as a kid.
I collected a card set of his comic.
New intro ok I see you Dare Devil
I'm just trying to glow up the channel a little 😁
That has to be the best looking armor I've ever seen only second to the apocalypse armor from the bat
Great video!! Shadow Hawk was one of my first comic books I got, if not the first.
Yyyooo you are taking me way back brother....love it
Hell yea John Boyega is the goat. Hes got the acting chops.
Right??? I always tell people watch that Attack the Block!!!

That's when I first saw him. Wish they made a sequel to that movie
Awesome video bro !! 💯💯💯
Image was way ahead of the game.
They Really Were
they should just make the movie set in the 90'S
I wonder what would be the perfect actor to play shadowhawk?
love this shadow hawk
Yeah This One Was Very Edgy
I liked his books
They were pretty damn good
Shadowhawk is dope! I remember this when I was a kid. I just looked up my issues a couple months ago

One of my favorite superhero comics ever 💪
I had all the shadowhawk comics plz cover the last person to wear the armor b4 resurrection
I'll put him on the list and see what I can come up with 😉

What a throwback
Had to go back to that 90's extreme era lol
I grew up reading him also!!!!!
I always feel like he was one of Image's best kept secrets. He didn't get the same love WildCATS and Spawn got, but man... he was awesome
@@BlerdWithoutFear Cause Of The Lazy Ass Writing And Lack Of Development He Got
Nostalgia on 💯 right now! This was the first hero I drew.🥺
This sounds interesting
It was really good. Definitely one of Image's better comics in the 90's

I thibk Shadow hawk could be done today.
Can you please do some videos on some variant comic books or heroes
Has awesome stories
I really like this character I wouldn't mind seeing Him in the movies or perhaps a Television series Too Man!😉☮️
You mentioning Star Wars reopened some wounds man lmao. I really wished they focused on Finn's character more in the trilogy lol. Anyways, Shadowhawk has always been an interesting superhero to me due to him being a hero who has to deal with HIV/AIDS.
Image got the holy trinity of black characters...
Spawn
Shadowhawk
Savage Dragon
Chapel
Micheal Cray
Go Bros!
don't forget the bitter root characters
Killing them is more merciful than paralyze them
I thought it was Gotham city where we all know batman from.
ShadowHawk Does Feel Like A D.C./ Batman Based Type Of Character
He's a character that needs a reboot or remake.
Shadowhawk crazy as hell... I'm surprised he wasn't throwing blood... nigga breaking spines...lol
I mean, he could have but I think that might have broken the comics code lol
8:47 I thought Brigade was more of a Justice league, and YONGBLOOD= AVENGERS. The NEWMEN would be more the X-FORCE.
What do you think about Image running him better again or let Marvel have him? Petition?
#Shadowhawk was my favorite Comic book character when I was like 12
still have some shadow hawk early comics
I agree with seeing him on screen
