Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through TH-cam videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

Not sure if you are trying to "correct" the video but you might want to watch it again because nowhere in this entire video did it say Islam invented algebra...

She said "got into..." (algebra, among other subjects), not "invented". Plus, Islam is a religion not a country so why would a religion "invent" a branch of mathematics? What you're saying isn't very logical.
Fun fact .The golden age of islam started when the Iraqi christians opened their library to the muslims , most of the muslim scholars are Persian not arabs .

The word algebra comes from the title of al-Khwarizmi's book Al-Jabr.
It derives from the Arabic term الجبر (al-jabr), which originally referred to the surgical treatment of bonesetting. In the 9th century, the term received a mathematical meaning when the Persian mathematician Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi employed it to describe a method of solving equations and used it as the title of a treatise on algebra, also known by the name The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing.
Musa al-Khwarizmi is also the name bearer for "Algorithm".

Algebra and algorithms were in use by the Babylonians 4000 years ago. That's over 2500 years before men invented Islam and authored the Quran.

It's almost as if this video is parodying the tendency of many (not all obviously) Islamic scholars to make easily disproved claims about the achievements of their religion.

I know the Taliban turned Afghanistan back to the stone age but the Taliban have only controlled Afghanistan between 1996 and 2001 and then again from 2020 to the present so what reason do you have for all the other years when women _DID_ go to school and _DID_ become TV presenters? (1923 to 1996 and 2001 to 2020).
If you had ever tried a path other than ignorance you might have known that Afghanistan was actually one of the most moderate Muslim nations for most of the 20th century with women granted equal rights in 1923, in fact it was due to being such a progressive/open nation that both spawned the Taliban and made the country an easy target for them.

Universities were first segregated by some curtain between male and female, because too distracting. Then the women were told to go home. Girls in school above a very young age were told school was too dangerous for them, they’d have to stay home until things were safe. Didn’t happen. Girls attending clandestine schools on the sneak are attacked, the teachers flogged and imprisoned, or raped and murdered. The usual.

Not far short of true - algebra is an Arabic word! When I was doing my Master's thesis, the oldest references I had to use were by Ibn Al-Haytham (also known as Alhazen), who lived in the 11th century!

The Quran declares that the Torah and the Gospel of Jesus were revealed by Allah:
Surah 3:3-4 - _“he has revealed to you the book with truth verifying that which is before it and he revealed the Torah and the gospel aforetime a guidance for the people”_
And yet, Muslims say that the Torah and the Gospel of Jesus have been corrupted, and yet the Quran says that Allah's words cannot be corrupted:
Surah 18:27 - _“and recite what has been revealed to you of the book of your Lord there is none who can change his words and you shall not find any Refuge besides him”_
Surah 5:47 - _“let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein if any do fail to judge by the light of what Allah hath revealed they are no better than those who Rebel”_
Why does Allah command us to judge by a corrupt book? The only Gospel we have contradicts Islam, so in order to obey Allah's command we would have to judge by the Gospel and conclude that Islam is false.
