I think it’s important to note for people that if you don’t want to do what Tae does, you don’t have to! Financial independence is all about finding what you value and going in on that, and as Tae explains in this video, finding things that you don’t value and ruthlessly cutting them out.
I am a former hell raiser and you are a great role model for me. Now I’m a family man tucked up in bed 8 pm Friday night, and your other ‘boring’ life style habits are my aspirations! And I’m serious. Keep the videos coming! 👍
Tae, your video was spot on. Wish you lived near me in SC, we’d be great friends! I’m a 56 yr old ER doc. I discovered minimalism 6 years ago, and it has become my passion. Yes, I too am boring, and I love it. Now debt free except for my mortgage. I live for the simple pleasures in life. Time with my wife. Walking my dog. Working out. Audiobooks/Podcasts. Language learning, etc. Money=financial freedom=peace of mind. Keep up the great work! Keep preaching!

Your videos are so well made. I also appreciate the subtle humor you put in your videos. Like you, we are debt free except the mortgage. This allows me to be a stay at home wife while my husband works. All the daily chores are done during the week so we can enjoy our weekends together without any major appliances running. I wish I had your love for tidying up. I do ok but definitely could be better.

The older I got, the richer I got. When I realized I had F-U money, I cared less trying to impress others. I bought and did less stuff. Life now is so simple, boring, and even more rich now……it’s really weird to realize this but VERY nice to be honest……

I love it all! Smart. I wear same shirt daily unless a zoom meeting or podcast. I essentially eat the same thing daily. I do purchase fresh premade macro meals to stay in calories. This is not cheap but I like the variety and ease. House paid off. Only index funds. I wish I loved cleaning. Gifts! Great idea but wife and kid would override me. Lol.

I stopped drinking almost twelve years ago. Complete waste of time, money, brain cells and ambition. Plus i like waking up at 5AM on the weekend to go road/mountain biking.

I pretty much eat the same thing every day, I don't drink alcohol, I have a small wardrobe and love organizing!!!!!😅 It is not boring, makes life simple and easier.

I am very boring with my diet. Keto, and grass fed steak. I avoid chicken unless purchased from a farm directly. If it isn't grass fed, or at the very least organic. I won't eat it. Sometimes I add a little change to my diet like an occasional fast food indulgence, but this is only on occasion.

10 years ago I graduated college with 100k in student loan debt. Today at 34 yrs old the only debt I have is a mortgage. Just paid off the car loan. House is 136k at 4.75% 30 yr. Should I pay the house or invest more?
4.75 is not that low. Stock market returns are projected in the 4.5-6.5% for the next decade. Could gamble and look for gains, or get a guaranteed 4.75% return on extra mortgage payments.

I imagine you're the type of guy who enters his 50's and missed out on doing really cool stuff but at this point, with health declining and interests in exciting stuff fading, you may never be able to do what could have been done at your current age. Live a little and continue to save as well. Read the book "die with zero" to make sense of it all.

Although eating the same thing does save you time and money, id argue that eating a VARIETY of nutritious foods will actually benefit your long term health! Which in turn saves you health costs in the long run.
