Hey friends and welcome🌞 I got to Cape Town in the middle of January 2024 and to be honest, I've just been trying to normalize my life after so much travel and craziness prior to getting here! This is my soft girl era, the era I just want to drink warm drinks, do yoga, draw, watch sunsets and be in nature. So welcome to Cape and to the soft life I've created in this busy, hectic city 🌿

Hello friend! Since you're in Cape Town, it could be really cool to see you try to veganize some of the more local dishes if that's something you're interested in! Love seeing different cuisines around the world made accessible to plant based folks.
I came for the recipes, but actually - especially since you are traveling - enjoy the mix of vlogs with some cooking in between so much!!
Sp, if you wanna do a yoga channel do it, I rather prefer you putting your time and effort in here, since I do yoga but never with videos, but oc, that is just my wish and you do what makes you happy :)!
When you took a deep breath and said let's just be thankful. I actually felt that in my soul.
I recently took an employment position. It wasn't the one that I wanted but the one that I was guided to. I kept trying to defy and question the feeling and even did other stuff and nothing else worked out. So I circled back and did what I was being called to do. It's decent money and decent benefits and I could actually retire in about 8 years if I wanna (I'm 35).
I'm just being thankful and not questioning why I've been lead here. I'm just going with the flow. All the ins and out of this new position has been quite a bit to take in and it's caused me a little bit of anxiety. But again. I'm being thankful.

Well you look adorable in your sunny hat! A yoga channel would be great. Every place you live/visit/travel I always wish you would do a Q&A or backstory to how life is or why you chose the place or why you stay. Since you have been there in South Africa I have read a few statistics and curious as to why you stay?

Awe thank you! That’s a great idea:) but to be honest sometimes I just pick somewhere because it sounds cool lol, there isn’t always much logic or thought behind it! For South Africa, I could stay here for 6 months without to much trouble, so it just made sense for me! Because I wanted to get to know a place and stay longer. South Africa, although dangerous, is extremely gorgeous and full of so much diversity and culture.
I’ll be here until the middle of July, then see where life takes me😊

Julia, I’d love for you to start a yoga channel! But I’m just curious, have you done a yoga teacher training? I don’t think I’ve heard you mention that before. I think you would love it a lot and it would do a lot to inform your teaching if you decide to do that. I’m about to finish my 500 hour training in a couple weeks!
I completed an online 200hr yoga training during covid, but I never shared my practice as I didn't feel "ready" ... After a couple more years in my practice I feel more confident in myself! HOWEVER I would really like to go to an in person training ( this year ) because the value of that is just 10 fold! 💕 an early congratulations on finishing your 500hr, thats so incredible! ✨
Do you feel safe there? My husband goes there on business and he doesn’t. The company he works for have several car jackings every week.

You're so right, the amount of people I've met here in direct provision, basically refugees, here in Ireland, from South Africa is actually nuts, I had no idea before I started getting involved about five years ago. Mainly women, the lack of policing and all the rest, they basically said if I didn't leave I'd be dead and even worse if you're basically anything but straight. I find it maddening that South Africa enjoys the same standing on the first world stage as others all things considered, like even when I was a child we had South African friends, loads of them came over here to work on upgrading our electrical system nationwide and again they alluded to the fact things weren't good over there, especially with a family but it didn't sink in until I befriended South African refugees, the first ones are my age and they are gay and non binary so I thought right okay that explains that, why it was dangerous for them, but then I started meeting more and more, older straight couples with kids, older single mothers etc and in the end I just asked outright what is going on in South Africa that's made you seek refuge here, the stories the reality, people being m*rdered and nothing being done, just the tip of the iceberg. Please, please do mind yourself girl, you mean the world to us, stay safe 💚 you do you content wise, you already provide us with amazing content, letting us share in your life and travels
Yes the reality for people here is rough. The government is extremely corrupt and with an up and coming election in May things might go rapidly down hill.
I don’t just travel to go to nice coffee shops or see cool monuments, I travel to see the world for all its realities ( as much as possible without putting myself in to much danger )
This place despite all the awful things going on, is extremely beautiful, unique and culturally rich. I find it fascinating! But it is scary and I hope as many people as possible can leave to seek a safer, calmer life, if that’s what they desire. But there are so many people here that will never get that opportunity and the more good people leave, the less good people are here.
