@@NeilNoble-z7e I would argue Richard has had some type of commercial success. Also commercial is overrated. It takes some kind of appreciation to still be around 50, 60 years after you started. Ptherwise noone would ever hire you and you would get a regular job. Also - though people rarely know them you can often find their records stocked in stores. They're not hard ti find if only you want to buy them, which means they are less marginalized than many others.
I just saw Ralph at the Cambridge Folk Festival in July and he sang this song there too (I guess he did mostly the same set - minus Kenny the kangaroo). Didn't film it, but it stuck with me. Now today I saw a clip of Missippi John Hurt on Facebook and wondered "who sang that song about him? It was something about his home town" and found this video. Thanks for filming so I can relive it ❤
What a trooper. He really is timeless and still more than got it!
He's still got it. Great singing great song and I love the ragtime Guitar too
Glad you enjoyed it, shall upload a few more later
Why don't artists like Ralph, Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, ever get commercial success ? No one I know has ever even heard of them !
