They're great to fly with when they don't see you as a threat. I've heard that attaching red ribbon to the canopy can help to ward them off but have yet to trial it.
Hi Gary, thanks for your comment. Wedgetail eagles are majestic birds and can be amazing to fly with. Your suggestion to attach a red ribbon to the canopy has been tried unsuccessfully. Many attempts to prevent an attack including various objects (streamers), different sounds (shouting and whistles), etc. ,to my knowledge, have only been marginally successful. Unfortunately, there seems to be no fail safe way to avoid an attack.
