St. Louie has some excellent batting practice pitchers. I think we can close the book on the Cardinals for this season.
Never really thought they had the pitching to be more than a .500 team even with the Fedde trade....

It's so rare in a St. Louis series where Aranado and Goldschmidt didn't destroy us. Those 2, historically,have always been firestarters vs the Reds. Nice sweep! Big stretch incoming.

@@nunyabidness7547 Cards aren't done. They just caught the Reds after we were saying the same thing, getting destroyed by the Brewers. I have more faith in St. Louis because they, at least, have a very recent history of winning traditions. The Reds have been living off the aura of the 1970's "Big Red Machine." Our owner is literally allergic to winning expectations!! As glad as I am the Reds got the sweep, I'm still VERY worried about what the Cards are capable of. They've generally found a way to dig deep when they needed to. 40+ games left... a lot can happen!

the cardinals top prospect walker was sent down after hitting .270 last season, promoted and hit .270 with 17 HR. is then given 50 AB to start this season and sent back down. only to be promoted after hitting well and then immediately benched. this is one of the worst player development organizations in all of baseball. just a horrific front office.
ok that's your fabricated fiction, now for the reality. He hit terribly in AAA this season, didn't deserve a call-up. In StL, he was only hitting .250 last year at this time, before teams called up Minor leaguers to finish the season, and Walker raised his average to .270 against easy pitching. Walker's strike out rate was 35th worst in all of MLB last year. He sure wasn't hitting at the start of 2024 against REAL major league pitchers, still striking out, his defense remained terrible, and he deserved to be sent down. I don't disagree that Mo and Bloom are about the worst front office in baseball right now (White Sox being the worst by far), but nothing about Walker has been done wrong. He just unfortunately got too much hype, can't live up to it, and is NOT a top prospect. In the off-season, he must be traded or cut. Maybe the White Sox will take him.
They did the same this year to Michael McGreevy? Came up made one stellar start, gets optioned? Gordon Graffeco too? Idk what's up, but it's crazy to me that Mcgreevy was sent back down after 7.0 1R 1BB 3Ks in a decent start... guess they saw something they didn't like
@@s.s.chapter2219 I'm sure they were boxed into sending McGreevy back down. A roster player coming back off IL or something happened and there was no free spot on roster to keep him until later this season, when rosters expand.
McGreevy was called up in an emergency start. The team likely was sending him back right away, no matter how he pitched.
But his performance might allow StL to make off-season moves that allow McGreevy to stick with the MLB club out of next season's Spring Training.
They would've gladly traded him, too, if he had any value to get yet another veteran.

I’ve been a Cardinal fan for over 40 years and I don’t think I’ve seen a more disappointing season. They have some decent talent but something’s gotta give. When we give away players that shine in other organizations that says something about what’s going on with the coaching and front office staff.
Yep and that ends things for the cardinals this season. One look at their schedule the next few series will tell you all you need to know about their chances of making the playoffs from what is currently a 60-61 record

Heck, nice low pitch for a perfect ending double play, yet Indy Jones goes yard to knock a 3 run homer.
This was a series we needed badly to stay in any serious postseason discussion. I yearn for the days when ownership cared enough about the team's success to stay involved with the day to day and not just care about the bottom line like DeWitt et al. Mozeliak is a terrible executive and Marmol really wasn't ready for this job. Bad decisions made by selfish decision makers. I'm really sad for the future of this team.

Seems as much as teams run on them, (Cards) safely, that the concept might work to produce possibly more than a run or two a night.
Miss GM Beane. A paddle would not even touch that outside low pitch. Just swing when it comes off the pitchers hand ? Maybe it might be close on an 0-2 count. Even a catcher might be wise for that trick. Millions.
This team is atrocious. Time for a rebuild. From the top down. They extended a manager for one of their worse losing seasons in recent memory, refuse to get any sort of decent pitching. Behind Gray there's nothing at all. 3 of last years top 5 most hit pitchers are on this team, and ypu expected success? I haven't watched a game since last year. Prolly won't for a while either. DeWitt and co aren't worried about the product on the field. It's all about ballpark village now.

to me he seems like one who will click at age 24
Walker should not have been called up. He did nothing in AAA to deserve it. He strikes out too much to be a major league hitter, and that gets worse with age, not better. His defense is terrible. He needs to be traded in the off-season, or waived. He has not lived up to the hype from Mo. In fact, this call-up feels like Mo and Bloom in full panic mode for their jobs.
I really like Mike Schildt. I hope the Padres make a strong post season run.
Walker is good now and again batting He's no good to you as a defensive player stop with he needs to play every day to be good he does fine and AAA but not with the big boys

6m14s. Somehow 2 outs occur without moving both runners to 2nd and 3rd , maybe you could lay one down 3rd base with Scott II up there, to see his speed and ability taught in triple A. Nope.
