Attended this game. And the only thing that I can say is:
Julio Rodríguez.
In the first of the last three times Rodríguez is at bat, a player steals 3rd with 2-outs. No production from Rodríguez.
The next at bat, bases are loaded with one out. Rodríguez hits into a double play. And who is hitting behind Mr. Rodríguez? Raleigh, one of our best hitters. Again, no production from Rodríguez.
And then there's the bottom of the 9th. A runner is in scoring position, on first. And who's up next? Again, it's Mr. Rodríguez. And again, what was the end result? Yep, no production, zip nothing game over.
How many home runs is Mr. Rodríguez hitting? I think it's 14. At this point of the season? And he's supposed to be the Mariners franchise player?
Mr. Rodríguez had the most at bats, (5). And his stat line was:
0-0-0-0-0. No production, zip nothing. The numbers don't lie.
Yep, it woesn't like the team didn't provide any opportunities. And again who was hitting behind him?
What made this even more frustrating was this..... Houston lost at home to the A's.
Now the bottom line is this. There are about 17 games to go. Each and every game is basically a playoff game. And we're going to see if Mr. Rodríguez is our franchise player or not. That's right.... stand in that box and deliver. Prove that he is worth all of that money the Mariners are paying him.

Then, 3 against Oakland (2-1, depending on how much either team even cares). Going 9-8 down the stretch isn't going to be enough. Go Mariners!
They will win tonight, take the series with Texas, take the series with NY (Because for some reason they can score against the better teams), take the Texas series and be within 3 games of Houston going into Houston and will win 2 of 3, be 1-2 games back and get swept by the A's while Houston loses 2 of 3 in their last series which would have given the M's a chance. Basically, they will get our hopes up one last time only to fail in the last series and remain out of the playoffs.

I knew the Padres were somewhat pathetic before the last few years but Manny Machado becoming their all time home run leader in less than 5 seasons, including the 60 game 2020 season is absolutely pathetic. How is that even possible?
